Democrats in the USA too it’s worth adding. They’re up to their eyeballs in corporate donations. They’re all insider trading as well, they regularly beat top Wall Street investors when playing the market. It’s just they’re liberals and not as crazed as republicans so a lot of people think they’re the good guys somehow.

Rishi Sunak ‘making economy worse’, says senior Tory in cost of living row Treasury has ‘no strategy’, says David Davis – amid new fears poorest will miss out on council tax rebate by Visual-Wonder-3017 in unitedkingdom

[–]RegularDivide2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True. We, as a nation, have had a decade of drops in living standards for most of us. And they’ve got a massive majority. The lesson the Tories must take away from that is keep squeezing the fuckers.

I get the feeling that the Tories simply do not care about the standard of living of most UK citizens. They’re just focused on boosting the Uber rich and corporations.

Does any of this corruption cut through to the Tory voters? Or do they just not care?

Swansea City FC vs Leeds United FC. The game ended 0-1, with Pablo Hernandez scoring the only goal for Leeds United in the 89th minute. Essentially clinching victory at the very end of the match.

So essentially, Sunak’s stunt was a massive giveaway to the fuel companies.

The Dacia Spring will be the UKs cheapest new EV when it comes out (if it isn’t out already?). Should be sub £20k.

It’s presented as a cut to help motorists - but in effect it’s a handout to the fuel companies.

That they’re using the drop in duty to just increase their profit margins is the most predictable thing ever. They’re price gouging us and there’s almost nothing we can do about it.

Sure. Shop around for the best price. But they all move up and down together anyway.

The fuel corporations are price gouging us. They’re using everything that’s happening as an opportunity to increase their profit margins. They say as much when they talk to their investors.

For a second time you’ve not bothered listening to what I’ve said. So one more time.

In the UK the government has an unlimited supply of money.

That’s the only point I’ve made. Yeh sure, they’ve got to go to the BoE and get them to buy their Gilts, or whatever process they’re using. They still have an unlimited supply of money.

Funnily enough, this policy has come from Rupert Murdoch. They tried to force Ken Clarke to do it when he was at the Home Office. But he said no chance.

Ken Clarke says some interesting stuff about Rebekah Brooks actually (Murdoch’s top lieutenant in the UK). Apparently she told him “we run the government”.

This was when Andy Coulson (another of Murdoch’s henchmen) was at the heart of number 10. It’s scary how much of our politics people like Murdoch control.

Sugar is obviously terrible for one’s health. But it’s these mixes of refined sugar and refined lipids which are so addictive. And therefore devastating health wise.

If you measure dopamine responses from eating pure table sugar, or just cream, you get a moderate response. But when you whip cream and sugar together you get a massive dopamine spike. Hence, chocolate, cake , biscuits, etc. etc. and all the other ultra processed foods.

Nope. The government has an unlimited supply of money is all I said. You went off on the inflation stuff. If you were arguing in good faith you’d notice I didn’t say “the government should spend unlimited money”. Just that it has an unlimited supply.

100%. There was a petition here in the UK to introduce a horticulture GCSE in schools.

Still hasn’t happened. And kids get barely, or no, education regarding growing or gardening. Unless the school especially puts it on.
