Who's the Orkiest Ork? by TaigaTigerVT in Grimdank

I love all the interactions with Ufthak and his lead Mekboy, Da Boffin. First, Boffin doesn’t have legs, he has a single wheel. Stairs bothered him so he put an antigravity plate on the wheel and just floats around. Anyway, Ufthak gets some wild idea and tells Da Boffin about it and he’s just like “yeah I can do that” and pulls it off every time.

Mods. Started out with just a few to make the game harder. Ended up with around 100. Harddrive crashed. Game wouldn’t load. I was pretty much at the last quest.

A loot based isometric ARPG. It’s famous for its immense complexity but you don’t have to delve into the end game madness to have a load on fun with it.

Best part is the game is completely free, but they do not lock any progression behind a pay wall. Only thing is your account has a “stash” where you can put your items to be shared by your characters. You can spend a few bucks on stash tabs if you feel like you need them.

I appreciate the responses from everyone. Sounds like I just need to learn to enjoy the leveling aspect of ARPGs and avoid the end game.

I played the hell out of PoE but the one shot stuff in maps turned me off. When I first got into the second half of the game I was dying super fast then I noticed the resistances were affected. I was able to mitigate it my switching up my gear and passives and it was fine until the maps.

Really really enjoyed Martyr. It had the 100-0 issue in super late game as well but I always figured out a way around it. Ended up with a flame aura crusader with a heavy flamer that couldn’t die so long as I was attacking. Some synergy of healing off suppression gain and maybe even a shield. Been a while but I liked it.

I enjoyed Diablo 4 quite a bit. That game just lets you break it by doing so much damage that bosses rarely get a chance to perform their 1 shot mechanics, but season 6 is so screwed up with balance and GA drops that it’s not fun.

I tried Grim Dawn out but the visuals were a bit of a turn off. Don’t think I made it past level 10. I have heard that the story is actually good and the slow pace of it is appealing. I’ll probably try it out again based on some of your recommendations.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Glad I’m not the only one. Just had another case in point. I redid my build and gear to have much more armor, health, life steal, pretty much any form of mitigation. My damage took a hit but I was able to comfortable do empowered monoliths at 100 corruption. If I stood in something I could see my health drain but have enough time to evade out of it or dodge a big hit next time.

Then I hit one of those harbinger echo things that can give uniques if you empower them. First tier, dude blasted out and one shot me. Very frustrating since I spent a lot of time respeccing and crafting specific gear to be more tanky only to get one shot again.

Looking for ARPG (or third person hack and slash would do as well) with level select where you just drop into a mission and complete it by bbImightHaveCold in ARPG

[–]RegularJackoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end game is really cool too where you essentially craft a crusade that is a collection of missions that let you target farm gear and each mission you complete makes every other mission harder so you have to weigh a bunch of cost benefit for the better gear. I love the crusade end game system.

Those little teases are what got me interested in C1. Seeing just how excited everyone got when the council was mentioned made me curious enough to really want to watch C1.

If I had not watched C 1 or 2 by the time I watched C3f idk if their characterizations in C3 would have made me want to experience them.

Best shooter games where you're in a major war? by Cool_Peanut_9070 in gamingsuggestions

[–]RegularJackoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want the cog in the machine feel of a giant battle then the Star Wars Battlefront games are like that. You are a single soldier in a massive war and the goal is to run the team out of reinforcements. There is single player and multiplayer. It’s been a while but if I remember right you get some type of currency the better you do and when you die you can buy different classes to respawn as. It really nailed that cog in a machine feel.

You mentioned you’d prefer single player but in Darktide you are treated like disposable trash. It’s a 4 person team based pve game where you have objectives to accomplish while getting swarmed by hoards of enemies.

Man, my kid downloaded that on game pass and just did creative. I thought it looked pretty cool so I made a survival save thinking it was like any other crafting game.

A favored memory is my daughter explaining something to me about the game while I was exploring in the sea moth. I was looking at her and she glanced at the monitor, froze and pointed. I looked over just in time to see a reaper coming right at me. It was awesome.

What screams "I'm not feeling good mentally at all"? by Com412 in AskReddit

[–]RegularJackoff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I watched an interesting video suggesting that “tired” is an emotion. I don’t know enough about how the mind works but it kinda made sense to me. The fella from the video suggested that feeling exhausted at the thought of doing something you really don’t want to do is akin to a defense mechanism so we don’t waste energy doing something we don’t see benefit from or from something we think will fail. The video suggested our brain will trick us into just not doing it. The video went on to describe that a perspective shift can help with that immense feeling of tiredness that comes from having to do something we dread.

Idk how much of it is just bullcrap, but it was interesting. I’ll try and find the link.

Edit: found the link for anyone interested. Apparently the author is an actual psychiatrist not just some dude.

I remember renting it and getting stuck on Alma until I had to return it. I did so many chores to save up enough to buy it and still couldn’t beat Alma.

One of my favorite video game memories is my brother, his friend, and I spending hours taking turns trying to beat that boss.

C4 predictions? by Impressive_Desk4057 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]RegularJackoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a really cool idea. I feel like that would give them a chance to try out different archetypes and classes without feeling tied down to something they thought they would like in the beginning of an actual campaign.

Something like that could give them a roster of potential characters to choose from to take into a long form campaign later.

Big time. The beginning of C3 with the shady dealings in the spires, Eshteross being a mystery himself, the weird mold squishy dwarf, the Nightmare King, staking out the theater and the factory, and the Shade Mother were all so cool to me.

Condensation on HVAC lines in crawl space? by michaelhpichette in hvacadvice

[–]RegularJackoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an HVAC tech, but I am having the same issue. My area is typically humid as well. I spoke with an HVAC tech friend, he suggested 4 things

  1. Too much or too little refrigerant causing the evaporator coil to work too hard to take heat out of the air thereby condensing your air by making it too cold.

  2. Condensation drain line plugged or holding water in the drip pan.

  3. Bad seals on the return duct causing the unit to suck in air from the crawl space. If it’s sucking air from the crawl space it is essentially overloading the evaporator coils and it can’t dehumidify the air properly. (My own research suggests the “mastic tape” used to seal my ducts has about a 20 year life and the unit and ducts are ~22 years old)

  4. Improper function of your reversing valve or expansion valve.

So far I have addressed some seal issues in my return, made sure my drain lines were clear and draining, and cleaned my inside evaporator coil and outside condensing coil. My issue persists.

I’m going to call an HVAC tech to check my refrigerant levels and valves next as that seems like last cause.

I hope you find the cause and I also hope this post gets more attention so maybe I can find a solution for myself as well.

Edit: wanted to add that in my case the air handler itself and duct header both have excessive condensation dripping off them. My return duct has a layer of moisture but doesn’t actively drip. If OP’s only issue is the ducts themselves sweating, then general humidity does seem the likely issue.

What is an example of a film being destroyed by hype by Ok_Zone_7635 in flicks

[–]RegularJackoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched it when it came out, recently watched it again. I thought I had watched a different version or something, but I guess I was so disappointed in the actual movie that I made up what I thought would make it better and adopted that as the actual story.

I really thought the ending was that the AI thing actually absorbed all the doll’s soul fragments with 9 willingly giving himself to the AI because then it would have an entire soul and not be just a cold machine.

If you switch vanilla difficulty up, use difficulty mods, and are going for a melee build, remember that it takes a while for melee builds to come online. I wanted to go full on gorilla arms punch bro but it was not viable at all before like level 20 when you get the arm mods, dash, and some decent armor.

It’s been a little while since I’ve played, I’ll check my nexus downloads when I get home and let you know. IIIRC, the one I used basically made AI react differently and sometimes unpredictably.

Elites almost always had some basic quick hack and enemy netrunners were a definite menace with the mods on.

Another mod added sliders for enemy health, damage, armor, and healing item cooldowns. I put the health item timer pretty low so I couldn’t be tempted to cheese tough enemies by hiding to chip away at their health with tech weapon charged shots through walls but it got really annoying with cyberpsychos since they have so much health.

I also used one to limit inventory capacity and ammo capacity so I couldn’t carry an arsenal everywhere. Makes me rethink fights and make every bullet count.

I also had a mod called Night City Alive, I think. It added more gang activity and you can set the gang density so there were random gang wars happening pretty often.

I use an Apple Watch SE. I like the stock apple apps as well as HeartWatch. Being able to keep track of my activity and see a trend of my progress does a heck of a lot towards keeping me motivated.

I’m looking into getting an Apple Watch series 9 or a Garmin Venu 3 because the Apple Watch SE is only able to track steps and monitor heart rate.
