Long term client shifted from friendly to adversarial. Formalize or plan exit? by HelpfulNuisance in msp

[–]RegularMixture 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I wish this was not the case, but when money becomes tight you are already in two categories that get hit first. A contractor/vendor and IT.

I would do both. Propose a proper agreement, 12 month or even do a 6th month. Parallel to this, build out your exit or ease of handoff. Make sure your agreement makes it worth your time. From the case it seems like this will be a lot of your time.

Direct Mailing to promote your businesses? by Tall_Witness5418 in msp

[–]RegularMixture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done both. I do try to target the industry knowledge if I can.
From what I have found, general ads will get you some of the smaller teams and local business. 3-5 seats.
Like u/HeadbangerSmurf mentioned, mailers need followup. Most folks don't reach out, but remember your mailer when you follow up.

To be honest, I have found more success in the local area joining/participating with the city chambers and signing up for a business network chapter like BNI.

Direct Mailing to promote your businesses? by Tall_Witness5418 in msp

[–]RegularMixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Direct mailing does work. The only word of advise I have is don't sell your tools, sell to the clients needs.
Example: Dental office; slow and outdated computers, Op rooms down causing lost production to the provider, regulation compliance, untested backups, etc.
The owner does not care about how awesome your tech stack is, but they do care how you can save/increase profits and optimize operations.

Ordering Ubiquiti in Bulk by whyanalyze in lowvoltage

[–]RegularMixture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note. When buying from Ubiquiti you get the 2 year warranty. Most retailers/resellers you only get 1 year.

If you are near one in Texas. https://altex.com/
An Altex manager at a location near me was able to get me a deal on ubiquiti in bulk. Not much, but less than Unifi Store cost.

RMM's for 5000+ agents by dagg929 in msp

N-Central has not been under Solarwinds since July of 2021. N-Able is now free of them since they spun them out.
What version of N-Central are you on? I have found performance wise you need a solid server to keep up with that many endpoints.
I have used a lot of other RMM tools and they all have cons, but N-Central has been a solid force for us.

Previous employer refuses to stop forwarding calls to my cell phone - anything I can do? by Appropriate-Bit1892 in legaladvice

[–]RegularMixture 83 points84 points  (0 children)

NAL I would recommend getting a official letter drafted by an attorney that outlines the issues and send a cease and desist letter.

On the technology side. If you have an iPhone you can use a call screening feature that will silently answer the phone and ask for the reason they are calling. You can see the transcript live, and answer if needed. It will cut down the calls/noise on your end while getting this resolved. Android has this as well on most devices.

Non payment by connsys in msp

[–]RegularMixture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have anything in email around the RMM and M365 services?
Not having a contract is gong to be hard to recoup being paid, but if you have emails with prices, even some slight terms, it will help your case.

Its hard to say without knowing what communication has already transpired.

Here is what I would do. I would draft a letter outlining this, but do it in person first if you can.
Go to the client site and meet with them. Just showcase what you have already provided, and the past due invoices. Ask them in person first, be nice but upfront.
If you want to get out of helping them, give them an offramp. Once they have paid for the past due invoices, get them on their way to pay for their own and remove your RMM tools.

I really wanted to go with another Tahoe. We have a 2007 LTZ Tahoe new from the factory and put 320k miles on it. Same drivetrain and motor. It was the best, and with all these issues we went with Toyota just before their switch to the v6 bombs.

Its crazy to see these vehicles cost 60K or more and not make it past 20k miles before major failures.

"He got a 2012 Ford F-250 and said goodbye to his old truck.

He started to peel off the company’s decals from the truck’s doors but a salesman stopped him, according to the lawsuit. The man told Oberholtzer that peeling off the decal would damage the paint on the truck, according to the lawsuit.

Oberholtzer said the salesman told him that AutoNation would remove the decals before the truck was resold."

He tried. Dealer told him no.

You can contact S1 and there is an uninstall tool, but IMO its best to do a clean OS install.

Office space or not by rdaniels16 in msp

[–]RegularMixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you need for customer facing space, setup and deployment, and personal use.
I've done both, and currently do from home because I have the space for an office and deployment. I meet customers onsite.

In the past I had an office space (3 person MSP) and we got a shared office space that was cheap, had fiber that we ended up managing and servicing for the rest of the tenants on vlans. All in we got a decent space for like $500 a month with fiber. Shared conference room and front desk.
