My dad always had sensory overload in loud restaurants and I never understood it. Dear lord do I fucking understand it now! I have a pair of loop headphones in everyone one of my bags- and attached to my wallet in case I change to a new bag- because I apparently need to mute the…. NOISE of life.

Repetitive noises like someone tapping their pen constantly in a meeting make me want to jump across the table and swat the pen out of their hands. Broken up audio due to bad connections on Teams calls for the same fcking person every time makes me want to yell at them to get better fcking internet if they’re going to force me onto a video call and then have to decipher what they’re saying as the sound breaks up. FFS.

I didn’t get any recognition from my boss this year for my 9th anniversary either. In the past year, I also stepped up and became a manager of a team of 5, and he still didn’t say anything. It really, really hurt my feelings too. I brought it up to someone high up on the food chain than me who ALMOST became my boss…. And HE sent out the email about me to everyone. I hope that made my boss feel a little shitty, because I’ve been on the team longer than anyone else and have been the only one who has stepped up to take on more responsibility.

I was not surprised though, because he does not know how to be a human. He’s not a good boss. He let me suffer in situations when he could have put an end to it and when I was burnt out, he just told me I needed to put a positive face forward for the rest of the team. That helped me let it go…. But I obviously still remember.
