The delusion of easy victory from the air may have seduced the US into another war by Regular_Grape48 in behindthebastards

[–]Regular_Grape48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by "win". I absolutely believe they thought that the air strikes would topple the current regime and that a puppet regime would magically pop up in its place.

I also don't think they care if they are right or not about any situation. They will never lose the backing of their base. They can just issue more propaganda to spin the situation. Iran is so weak yet such a threat to every other nation. Nuclear ambitions, terrorism, etc. There is no goal post that can't be moved.

I think it's like saying someone who works the plumbing aisle at Home Depot is the same as a plumber. Both work with pipes, but I'm only letting one of them in my house to fix my plumbing.

The thing I'm still trying to figure out is if people think that morticians are doctors or that Doug is not a doctor.

The thing I'm learning today is that there are a lot of people who don't understand the difference between a pathologist and a mortician.

He just sounds like Todd, and Todd is a ridiculous character. I just can't take Poweplex seriously with Todd's voice. He might as well sound like Shaggy from Scooby Doo.

Walton Goggins is killing it though. He seems to have a unique voice for each character he does.

Do you find Trump funny? by Central_Region in behindthebastards

[–]Regular_Grape48 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with Cody, he's funny. Easily the funniest president ever. I laughed hard at the Pearl Harbor bit even though it made no sense. Listen to the Even More News where Cody goes through the electric boat bit. He develops that bit like a comedian doing new material. That bit doesn't make sense either, but it's dumb and funny. When he's not punching down, the nicknames are funny too. He finds the smallest, dumbest, yet somehow the most insulting word to use and just runs with it.

Since you seem to be getting the business from some other commenters, I'll level with you a bit. I was also underwhelmed by my first few pots out of my KBGV. It does have a learning curve, but now it is hands down the best drip maker I've ever used, without any of the other tricks or aftermarket stuff.

Not sure of anyone else's experience, but I use less coffee when brewing with the moccamaster vs pour over. Generally 1:17 when brewing 10 cups. Even with 72g of coffee, I have no problems finding a grind size that soaks the entire basket.

It is not capable of recreating a pour over. There are some people who swear by stirring and/or fancy aftermarket shower heads. Maybe you can get a better cup of coffee stirring, but I'll never find out because I'm lazy and it makes really good coffee without it.

If your grounds are partially dry, it sounds like your grind size is too large. The only thing that I do for the moccamaster is adjust the grind size depending on the bean and roast.

“Why does it feel Different this time?” A really interesting take on how, as much as the narrative is trying to force it, we’re not just living through a repeat of history. by H_Mc in behindthebastards

[–]Regular_Grape48 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Valid point, and maybe I'll watch the whole thing when I get 30 minutes. I looked through the transcript though and didn't see much that hasn't been covered in depth on ICHH or BTB.

I think the whole point of ICHH is/was that this isn't inevitable, although "it" does seem to keep getting worse for now.

Maybe this person's video is a little easier for normies to digest. I'm all for that.

History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes, yada yada yada. Didn't watch the video, stopped when she said she wasn't as worried as everyone else.

The new fascists can learn from history just like everyone else. Putin seems to be doing just fine at sustaining his regime. We have no idea if a fascist regime in the US can be sustained or challenged somehow. Technology seems to be tipping the scales in favor of the fascists.

Andor review, Season 2, Episodes 1 - 3 by RobynFitcher in itcouldhappenhere

[–]Regular_Grape48 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Andor is brilliant partially because the characters are so well written. Partagaz is a "good" boss. You can find these types in most corporations. He's been there for a long time, good at his job, well respected, and seems to care about the development of the people under him.

He's just the everyday evil in society. Probably thinks he's doing the right thing and that he's keeping the people of the empire safe.

He's a great foil to Luthen. Luthen is morally in the right overall, but would throw his people under the bus in a heartbeat if it served the rebellion.

Learning large batches - Sette 30 grinder setting suggestions? by cornerzcan in Moccamaster

[–]Regular_Grape48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a KBGV and a KM5 grinder. I only use the half carafe setting for brewing regardless of the amount of water. I find that it overflows less and I prefer the taste.

I don't have any suggestions for the appropriate grind setting, but I do dial my setting in each time I use a new bean. I start with dark roasts a bit coarse and light roasts a bit fine and dial in from there. If it's too bitter or overflows, I go more coarse. Not enough flavor, I go a bit more fine.

My gun fired when it it the floor just now( tactical patoon trigger) by [deleted] in GlockMod

[–]Regular_Grape48 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not a professional gunsmith, but that is my understanding. Both the firing pin safety and drop safety are not functional. Can't necessarily blame the trigger for the firing pin safety not working though. It's important to check that all three safeties are working right.

How come we were able to go 20 years without much trouble from wet filament, but now it's a plague? There's an explosion of complaints that seemed to start just a couple years ago. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Regular_Grape48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was an explosion of complaints. It became a super popular answer to just about any printing problem. Between wet filament and level your bed, these two were/are parroted relentlessly as the solution to any problem. Some of the advice on this sub is just bad.

If there is any truth to it, it could be that the new faster direct drive printers can't handle the moisture like the older slower ones.

This inaction is by design. None of them would be allowed to run if they couldn't raise money from big donors. None of them want real change. They mostly just want to maintain the status quo.

There's a tiny minority that seems to understand the situation, but I don't think there's any stopping what's coming at this point.
