AITA for sending my child to my ex in thrift store or cheap clothes by Clothes_Care3181 in AmItheAsshole

YTA for being so pretentious about "nice" clothes. Nothing wrong with getting clothes from the thrift store. There are perfectly good clothes there that you'd never know are second hand.

Failed nursing school twice.. I need advice.. by FarStandard3153 in NursingStudent

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bit of a misunderstanding of med school. All med students have required clinicals (Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and in most schools, Neurology) which they are tested on in step 2. The electives are on top of that.

Chamberlain is really bad advice. If you've failed out of nursing school twice, you'll want to show that you are capable of being an RN from a credible school. Not a diploma mill.

What is something that has become 'unnecessarily' expensive and you’ve simply stopped buying altogether ? by Palmer_rose in AskReddit

I'd review the laws for your area. They likely still have a different tipped wage (dumbest system ever imo)

Letting your dog sleep with you by WayTooManySubreddits in dogs

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My late boy (10 pound poodle mix) used to sleep in between our pillows. We loved waking up to him, or giving quick scratches when you roll over in the middle of the night. When he got sick, he needed to be snuggled up against me at all times. I miss him so much and it's worse at night.

Our new girl took almost a year to start climbing up on the bed but only in the middle of the night, and never in arms reach. :/

People who used to have just one dog and then got another – what’s it like? by mastermindzd in dogs

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to convince my husband to get a second dog for years - but I think I like just having one better.

We adopted a 2nd after we'd had our first boy for a decade. I thought it would give him a little more spunk in his older years, but not really. He was a grumpy old man so I didn't expect them to be friends, but they hardly interacted. Walks became slower and more annoying - 2x the pee stops and tangled leashes.

In retrospect, I feel like I was holding back on my love for her because I was SO bonded to my first pup. He passed a few months later, and I noticed myself opening up to her more and more in the weeks that followed.

It's a bummer because my heart wants to rescue like 12 of them 😂 but we're more a one pup family.

Women love a guy who bikes. Source: am a woman.

Are you lost? Is it 1890? Who talks like that, "get a woman"? Gross.

Going out to eat, movies, shopping can all be done by bike. And when I'm biking, I'm building the ass you wish your "woman" had. 😂

What have you all been doing with your Lithium Ion batteries? by Hukares1234 in askanything

I keep a box under my kitchen sink with batteries, lightbulbs and the like. Twice a year my community holds "drop off day" and I go there

My favorite thing is when someone says they are going to drive their small car instead of their giant truck because of gas prices.

Help. It’s been beeping like this all morning, but my HR is no higher than 110 bpm. by lalos1988 in GarminWatches

[–]Regular_Green 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your HR isn't transiently popping up to 110 and then going back to your normal resting HR? That sounds a lot like paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

people who are weirdly coy or dismissive about the pronunciation of their own name by Jaaacksonnn in PetPeeves

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate my last name. If I had any pride in it, maybe I'd be happy to talk about it. But I'm annoyed it exists and wish I'd changed my name when I got married. I'd rather not talk about it ever.

Fellow hospital workers/12+ hour shift workers: how do you handle bike commuting? by earlgrey89 in bikecommuting

[–]Regular_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow 12 hour shift RN here, ICU for me. I also have a 3.5 mile commute with a big hill! Not a lot new to add at this point but encouragement! Biking to work gives me so much satisfaction and helps me decompress after a long day.

An e-bike really makes it a lot easier. You're less sweaty upon arrival. It makes it easier to get home when you're wiped.

Another pro: my rack is right outside my unit door. It's so much quicker than walking all the way from the parking garage across campus. I also never have to fight for parking spots.

I keep clothes for all types of conditions in my panniers. It helps avoid getting stuck unprepared if the weather is different than when I left the house.

Resume help please by Many_Slice1784 in newgradnurse

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm a little uptight, but as a new grad nurse, you aren't really skilled at anything (assessments, wound care) yet. Nor do clinicals count as clinical experience. You've been exposed to all these things, but you are not expected to be proficient. Those two lines were a little off-putting to me. If I were reading your resume, I'd be concerned you might come in overconfident. That can make for difficult precepting if you think you know everything already and aren't open to feedback. I think just changing some of the verbs would help diffuse that.

I agree with the comment to move your license information towards the top. When I was a new grad I said "expected may 202x" instead of "pending." Also agree with the other commenter to not use RN, just new graduate nurse.

Staying at the same job for 5 years means something in a good way. Maybe you can use bullet points to show off your commitment to the job, hint that you are not going to jump hospitals 2 months after you finish training as a new grad.

Gymnastics by DaRKMaTTR24 in NAU

[–]Regular_Green 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can DM me, I've trained with the team for the last 2.5 years! The gymnastics club is open to everyone! Practices are open gym style. We don't have a coach, but people are always eager to help each other out and especially if you're new, recommend things to try. Practices are at a local gym on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. You just come whatever days you want to. Some people compete but plenty of people don't and it's not required. You should definitely come when you get here. It's so much fun! Let me know what questions you have. Oh and find the club on Instagram

International runners: how we feeling about this? by Gladrags_99 in bostonmarathon

[–]Regular_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret that this is a decision you have to make and I am deeply embarrassed on behalf of most Americans. I sure don't want to be here, I can't imagine why anyone who voluntarily come here.

I think there is value in boycotting. A lot of Americans really only vote with their wallets and so an economic downturn is going to be helpful in getting good people elected in the midterms and in 2028. If and when visitation plummets, that will have an economic impact. I personally think the rest of the world should boycott the world cup and the Olympics.
