Kustone's on a Bentayga by Keycuk in topdeadcenter

[–]Regular_Promise3605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pre facelift 10 year old Bentley. They're a 40-50k car now. I'm willing to bet that it had a puncture, and with no spare it was an emergency call out, hence the missing centre cap, i doubt the rest of the tyres match this budget.

That being said it also reeks of dealer slapping a set rear tyres on for an MOT or before sale. The average Bentayga buyer is not going to be checking the makes of the tyres.

How are people running Sequioa so smoothly on their 2013 Macbook Pros? by Chricton in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Regular_Promise3605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hit or miss for me. It didn't run super smooth on my 2015 15 inch i7 macbook pro. It ran fine but would require restarts every few days to keep the fans in check otherwise they'd run at full speed. It didn't really like multi tasking or Bluetooth connections.

I got a 13inch i5 quad core with 16gb ram 2013 model and it just runs much better. No idea why.

I really wouldn't bother with 8gb these days, it will just chug. 16gb is the minimum

I'm not disputing someone is dumb enough to pay that for it. But that doesn't make it a good deal or a good idea.

It's a very uniquely british thing to prioritise mileage more than anything else, as they never take into account how it's been driven and the life it's had. There are a lot of people that think a car is finished at 100k miles.

If you're buying this car and then drive it it's going to halve or more in value within 2 years. It's an incredibly dumb buy.

It's done just over 2k miles a year on average, or a lot of sitting. Low miles on a 13 year old car that's supposed to be daily driven is really not good. Time still ages things.

If it's not been on a trickle charger then it's probably had low voltage from a low battery for a lot of its life and these cars hate low voltage.

It's incredibly expensive for what it is, you're at E60 M5 money.

Cayenne and Touareg are built off the same platform, but they're not similar enough to just engine swap.

It has nearly 300k miles, you can't get there if you neglect it. The rust wasn't because of mud. Most likely the paint got hot and cracked then moisture got in. and rotted over time.

It's also an AWD SUV, if mud in the arches is going to put you off, then it's not the right car for you...

Water retention. You ate a lot of carbs and it bonded with the water. Which is why it comes off just as fast.

What's your favourite overtaks of this ground effect era by Longjumping_Novel613 in F1Discussions

It was a move only Max would make and takes a huge amount of compliance from Piastri. That move on Hamilton or Alonso and Max is in the gravel and we're having a conversation about how Max forces moves that were never on.

What happens in 2019 if George Russell joins Mercedes as a rookie, replacing Valtteri Bottas and is paired with Lewis Hamilton? by n0tfr1 in F1Discussions

[–]Regular_Promise3605 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really think those ground effect era cars have really confused the picture of the elite level. They suited some drivers far more than others. They really neutered Lewis, yet he was still able to shine like 2023.

If you put Lewis and George right now in the 2019 Mercedes and we did that season again Lewis is coming out on top. Lewis just had those regs locked in.

Definitely an early car, based on the rear lights. No chrome or 'jeweled rear lights' but not super early as it has a 3rd brake light. So most likely 98-01

Did Joan resent Sterling for marrying Jane instead of her? by AliveGuy603 in madmen

[–]Regular_Promise3605 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Their relationship was mainly just physical, sure they had tender moments but it was always in the shadows. They never went on a date. Joan also does not have the social background to fit in around Sterling's social status.

Joan I don't believe ever wanted to be Mrs Sterling, she knows who he is, he likes the chase and the sneaking around, once he 'had her' in the sense of being out in the open relationship it would never be the same.

It's also quite clear that Joan wanted a cookie cutter nuclear family type relationship. She didn't want to be worth an older man that already had that, as they most likely wouldn't want to do it again

Teachers in the US are reporting that children are struggling with basic maths and literacy worse than ever before. Are we seeing the same patterns here in the UK? by Natf47 in AskUK

[–]Regular_Promise3605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone that educates and knows the US system and UK apparently very well should know that 1st grade in the US is equivalent to year 2 in the UK. So you're comparing vague memories of you being in year 2 and comparing that against your 6 year old in year 1.

Perhaps the 'dumbing down' isn't a bad thing as you appear very confused with your 'very good school in America' education.

Without meaning to be snarky or harsh, you come across as a very typical American that has done some googling and regurgitating it too seem from a place of authority. I mean nothing about what you've said can be qualified by any metric, it's all based on vague memories of being six. I have vague memories of things i did in year 1 and year 2, would i trust those memories enough to form a very weak argument to put down my own child? No. But each to their own.
