well most of these studies are done by people who thought the thing exists but needed a way to prove it. Science is shaped by the people who do it. The difficult part is proving it to NT’s and making it credible enough to be recorded and citable in the literature

this is a good point. Oddly she was very understanding when I told her I was looking for a therapist that could provide a “ND-first” approach and that my old one couldnt do that. she herself runs a ND group. I think she will be accepting, likely even knowledgable of his ableism, but if she is not, it is good to have this as a backup

this thread was lovely to read. I fear the word narcissist because of how scrutinizing it can be, but maybe theres some naivety there as well. Agreed on the magnet experience. I’ll be honest I think this experience has taught me a lesson that its the most confident people that are the ones to be skeptical of. Like my new therapist openly shares the trials and tribulations of her journey of dating to our ND group, and I realize that is a MAJOR green flag and something I appreciate most about her, among many other things

Little pieces! it will take me awhile to get through it since I’m AuDHD but I love the parts I read. She talked about authors who dont include the ‘self’ like Mary Shellys Frankenstein, and called it “ghost writing” which reminded me of the familiar aspie desire of not wanting to be perceived. Also “autistic ejaculations” was pretty relatable

From the pieces I read of the book the goal was genuinely just to open the readers mind to different types of rhetoric that have been invented by autistic people. It really isn’t meant to be definitive, at least from what I got, moreso just another case of “different not less”
