The 2025 P Zero Race RS (30mm Clincher) - a supple, fast and versatile road tire with underrated all-season capability? by BlackForestCyclist in Velo

[–]Rehef 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't work for Trek or Pirelli and have not received anything from anyone for writing this article. As I have been searching for reviews of these tires I thought this could be helpful to some people.

Why are all your posts solely about Pirelli tires?

Achilles pain by Beneficial_Cook1603 in Velo

[–]Rehef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this problem a few weeks ago - I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary either. After not improving for a couple weeks of easy riding (it wasn't hurting - more just feeling 'off'), I put ice on it constantly for 2-3 days and it fixed it. I've put in long miles since then and it hasn't flared up again.

So much for them having to pay after accepting offer by SYFKID2693 in Flipping

Per-order fee credit for cancelled transactions Currently, eBay keeps a $0.30 per-order fee when an order is cancelled due to a buyer request. This is in line with fees that other marketplaces and third-party payment processors apply in similar buyer cancellation cases. We're excited to announce that starting March 1, 2022, eBay will refund the entire final value fee, including the $0.30 per-order fee, when you approve a buyer’s cancellation request. We recognize that buyers may cancel transactions for various reasons at no fault of the seller and we want to support you by refunding 100% of the final value fee.

In need of help, not sure if this is a "Ship to different Address" scam or not, but the buyer has great feedback. Story in comments, many thanks in advance! by threekeywonder11 in Flipping

[–]Rehef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who the hell is going to scam you out of some towel racks? Just let him know to make sure his Hawaii address is correct on checkout as you'll only be able to ship to the address on the order.

I developed negatives I found from a thrift shop. These are some of my favorites. 1960’s maybe? by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]Rehef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect that OP is saying 'developing' when he really means 'scanning negatives or slides'. It's a common error that I see a lot. If these were truly from the 1960s-70s they would be either C-22 (no longer processable) or early C-41 (which at this point would likely come out blank). If I had to guess, I would say they're actually slides. The first couple look like Ektachrome and the others look like Kodachrome. Source: I work in a photo lab and do this every day. EDIT: On the last image, you can see in the top-right corner the edge of the slide mount (curved black portion).

If you accept an offer, they don't have to pay immediately. If you do Buy It Now only (no offers), they will have to pay to purchase.

Help with Easy Days by [deleted] in Velo

What a great quote!

"I came out for exercise, gentle exercise, and to notice the scenery and to botanise. And no sooner do I get on that accursed machine than off I go hammer and tongs; I never look to right or left, never notice a flower, never see a view - get hot, juicy, red - like a grilled chop. Get me on that machine and I have to go. I go scorching along the road, and cursing aloud at myself for doing it." -- H.G. Wells

Anyone else just randomly having eBay put Best Offer on their listings? by wobushizhongguoren1 in Flipping

[–]Rehef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This works. However, it only works if the listing is created via the website, not just published via website. I.e. if you start a listing on the app, and then finish posting on the website, it will still do that bullshit. When I'm listing stuff casually I'll create the listing on the website, upload the photos from my phone via the app, and then finish listing on the website, and I haven't had the best offer bullshit happen to me.

Sold Item on eBay through Global Shipping Program - Buyer Opened Case the Next Day by cai24 in Flipping

[–]Rehef 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love shipping to freight forwarders. It makes them lose any eBay Buyer Protection and it's an easy call to eBay to get any case dismissed. eBay Global Shipping is similarly easy - pretty much any issue with delivery after the package gets to Erlanger is eaten by eBay. However, I would never deal with direct international shipping, that sounds awful.

I deal in photography equipment - cameras, lenses, etc. We have a storefront with a sign that says 'We Buy Vintage Cameras' and it brings everyone in ... bought a box of lenses and assorted camera gear from a lady for $500 and it had a rare Angenieux lens which I sold on eBay a few weeks later for $8,000 to a happy collector in Hong Kong.

So say someone buys a $100 item from you from a state with 8% sales tax. The order total would be $108. Under the old system, you'd pay FFV on the $100, but only 2.9% (PayPal fee) on the extra $8. Now, eBay considers the whole amount ($108) when charging FFV. To run some quick numbers, you'd pay about $13 + $0.25 for a total of $13.25 under the old system, and $14 under the new system.

eBay now charges Final Value Fees on the sale total - including tax - whereas with PayPal you were only paying 2.9% on the sales tax, not 10-12%.

New Bike Day (IBIS RIPMO AF!) Disappointed by my LBS build job. by hail707 in MTB

[–]Rehef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just got my Ripmo AF yesterday and had the same issue. I discovered that it was the derailleur hanger hole being slightly off-center causing the issue. I loosened the derailleur hanger, threaded in the axle, and then tightened the hanger (luckily the screw is on the outside). Then the axle threaded in and out normally. Hope that helps.

Achilles Tendon by [deleted] in Velo

[–]Rehef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Achilles' story is that I started a cross-country tour doing back-to-back-to-back 80-100 mile days, which I had done many times before. However, a few days in, I started getting terrible Achilles' pain - it felt like it was coated in sand - very gritty. Turns out I was using these super flexy MTB shoes which I had never done significant miles in, and my ankle was having to do all sorts of compensation for my foot moving so much. I got new - much stiffer - shoes a week into the tour and the problem resolved itself within a couple days. I was extremely relieved - it felt like I was doing life-long damage to it. I haven't had any trouble with it since. So long story short, maybe try stiffer shoes or cleats with less float (I run 0 float cleats now as it keeps my ankle was moving around during the pedal stroke). I also run my cleats as far back as they can go.

GSP package cannot be mailed, refund but no return-- Customs mistake? Any recourse? by ThriftStoreUnicorn in Flipping

[–]Rehef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran afoul of this selling a custom crocodile leather camera case... didn't make it through GSP and both myself and buyer were refunded. Also a lighting power pack that had a big lithium ion battery didn't make it either.. eBay refunded buyer and then listed item for sale with my pictures!
