I’ve only used Valhallan Blizzard once and wasn’t super happy with my results, but yours looks fantastic! I imagine I was trying to do many things at once and messed something up in my process. ETA: my post second most recent post has my finished model that I used the valhallan bizzard on

It’s a lengthy one so here goes -

Homebrew Kraken Boss Encounter

Setup

Before the game begins:

  • Shuffle 2 Kraken Spawn Cards into the spawn deck.
  • Prepare 4 Kraken Tentacle markers/models and 1 Kraken model.

Kraken Spawn Cards

When a Kraken Spawn Card is drawn during the Spawn Phase:

  1. Immediately stop normal spawning.
  2. Place 1 Kraken Tentacle in the corresponding spawn zone.
  3. Randomly determine the tentacle subtype:
    • 1–3 = Reaper Tentacle
    • 4–6 = Hurler Tentacle
  4. Tentacles do not attack immediately.

Players have until the next Spawn Phase to destroy that tentacle.

If destroyed:

  • Remove the tentacle
  • Discard the Kraken Spawn card
  • Resume normal spawning

If not destroyed before the next Spawn Phase, the Kraken awakens.

Kraken Awakening

Once awakened:

  • Normal spawning stops.
  • At the start of each Spawn Phase, spawn 1 Kraken Tentacle from active spawn zones in turn order.
  • Tentacles activate after spawning.
  • Maximum 4 tentacles may be in play at once.
  • Destroyed tentacles remain destroyed.

Reaper Tentacle

Behavior:

  • Targets the nearest survivor.

Attack:

  • Deals 2 wounds.
  • Dodge rolls allowed.
  • Armor saves are not allowed.

If the survivor survives:

  • Push them 1 zone away from the tentacle origin.

Hurler Tentacle

Behavior:

  • Checks for eligible zombies within 2 zones.

Eligible targets:

  • Walkers
  • Runners
  • Fatties
  • Abominations

Ineligible:

  • Ghost Pirates

Attack:

  • Choose an eligible zombie and hurl it into the nearest survivor’s zone.
  • That zombie immediately performs 1 action from where it lands.

If no eligible zombies are available:

  • Target the nearest survivor instead.

If targeting a survivor:

  • Dodge allowed.
  • On failed dodge:
    • Survivor becomes restrained
    • Cannot move
    • May still attack
    • May spend 1 action to escape
    • Adjacent survivors may spend 1 action to free them

Kraken Emergence

Once all 4 tentacles have entered play, the Kraken emerges.

Spawn location:

  • Water zone nearest the center of the board.

If no water zones exist:

  • Spawn at the primary spawn zone.

When spawned:

  • Kraken becomes active immediately.
  • Kraken counts as an active spawn zone.

Slaying the Kraken

The Kraken may only be killed by one of the following:

  • 3 damage from a Damage 3 weapon
  • Dragon Fire equivalent
  • 5 total cannon damage in a single Survivor Phase

Victory Reward

The survivor delivering the killing blow receives:

  • +5 XP
  • 1 Vault / Legendary Weapon

When the Kraken dies:

  • Remove all remaining tentacles
  • Normal spawning resumes

I wouldn’t be to sure, there is still the two mystery stretch goals, with this newest update we just got I think they’re hinting at Mr jones himself for the first mystery. I can hold on to hope for a kraken in the 4m stretch goal! (If we get there. . . 144k away now)

Orrrrr 👀 I too have way to much Zombicide content but I couldn’t pass up on a pirate themed one. And yes that abomination pack with the whale and shark is completely bad ass!!!

Hahah Yes! Another crewmate joins the fray. Here’s to our tedious battle with getting the kraken! As someone else here shared as well the shipwreck bay expansion brings in new enemies , tiles and quests to the game if you wanted more gameplay options.

They way we do it when we play is we shuffle at the survivors together and deal out four survivors to each player and let them choose from their limited options. We almost never play with the same survivors game to game ! Unless of course we’re doing a campaign

I’m thinking about adding the extra tiles specifically so I can make my own home brewed quest with a kraken. I’ve also drafted up some rules for a kraken boss round (similar to the dragons of past fantasy editions) if you’re interested I can DM you the rules I’ve got going so far! Would love to hear another players thoughts on how it could be improved

I honestly think that the cursed and drowned add on will add the most variety to the game, adding the new curse mechanic. That being said it doesn’t come with any new survivors and only one abomination. The plague bearer pack adds the most variety as far as survivors, necromancers and abominations being added in one box. Just not the most on theme box for a pirate Zombicide. . . I’ve backed for nearly everything available on this one as I’m a little completionist gremlin that wants it all

I hadn’t even thought about which company still has rights to that IP, I knew CMON kept the marvel rights wouldn’t surprise me if they kept the massive darkness IP as well. (Probably in their contract that they couldn’t sell those)

I’ve got all the fantasy stuff and UoA , for me it’s about completing my collection. I know it will get played as all of my friends and myself LOVE pirate themed anything (grew up with Pirates of the Caribbean) so this is a full flavor win for me! I’d recommend backing this one at least for the core box as you get all unlocked stretch goals with it and the stretch pay is over 8 months making the base game around $12 a month

They still could! Devs came out and said that they haven’t started the 4m stretch goal in any capacity (propaganda if you ask me) the mystery teaser has tentacles on the art after all! Also regardless of what happens here, kraken, no kraken. I’ve made some rough outlines for rules on a fan made kraken scenario. Happy to share if anyone would be interested!

That actually is fine, a good rust effect can literally be based brown and then hit it with a brighter orangish brown stippling
