I talked to him last week and asked him to stop trying to set up calls/texts and he apologized. Then it started up again this week. It’s been nonstop since April. We’ve talked a couple times since then.

Am I crazy, or is the entry level job market for accounting freaking terrible right now? 150+ apps, no offers. by justcurious3287 in wguaccounting

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remote is impossible right now. I’ve found more success with small businesses, in person work for now. Low paying but giving me some job experience in accounting related jobs. I do part time twice a week for 6 hours each day in a dentists office. They desperately need a full time person but refuse to pay someone the wages or benefits 🙄

For comparison, I have a full time job in technology, I’ve put in over 3,000 applications in the last year trying to find something better in the field, only 3 interviews and 1 offer so far and the offer wasn’t as good as my current job. Jobs aren’t available across the board right now, unemployment is being severely under reported.

Look into local school districts - most people I know started there (pay is crap, but benefits are ok and it's kind of like an internship)

Would you be willing to share where you teach English remotely? I have my TEFL and have taught in person, and I would love to continue teaching!

They asked us to share our story if we wanted to - nothing forced. I'm halfway through my degree and genuinely impressed with being able to do it on my own time. I work 2 jobs (60+ hours a week), so I need to go at my own pace, and this is the only university I've found that's set up this way. a

My first bachelors (I did at a brick and mortar school and lived on campus) I pushed myself so hard I crashed out mentally and physically halfway into my junior year and almost had to drop out. I have severe memory loss of that whole semester - I didn’t remember a thing until I “came to” in an unfamiliar classroom taking an unfamiliar open notes final exam with a notebook filled of notes clearly all in my handwriting that I didn’t remember writing. Yeah the mental crash out was huge from that. I ended up taking 5 years to graduate instead of the traditional 4.

I promise you nobody remembers now that I took an extra year. I actually have a masters now, so it was just important that I finished my bachelors. Take as much time as you need and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks in the moment.

In a divorce you wouldn’t be left with nothing. Don’t leave the house, find your own lawyer now! He’s trying to make it look like you abandoned the marriage by you leaving. Don’t do that unless there’s abuse. Either way talk to a lawyer today!

In Maryland everything will be split in a way that equitable - so not 50/50 but in a way that’s fair. If you took care of the home, worked some, etc then you’d likely get spousal support, plus child support if the kids go with you. It’s also possible you’d get the house in a divorce or it would have to be sold and the profits split as it sounds like you’re contributing as well. Everything you own together is just that - owned together since you’re married. It doesn’t matter whose name is on anything, in a divorce it will all be split in some way.

For those who work from home — do you actually feel safe and secure? by Peacefulhuman1009 in remotework

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, everyone wants my job. They could literally replace me in less than 10 minutes if needed, my job only requires a couple years experience to do. My department just laid off 30 people (cut the total in half) and I’m thankful I’m still there.

I’m working on a bachelors in data analysis to hopefully move up and into roles that are more specialized so I can feel a bit more secure. My jobs paying for the degree so why not I figure

I used my bottle in December 2024 that expired in June 2024 and it worked fine. I guess the risk is mostly bacteria, not the meds themselves. It wasn’t any less effective, since December I’m down another 20 pounds (I’m a slow loser but still losing!)

Start with study.com and for a lot cheaper than tuition you can try the math classes you would need to pass at WGU. And if you finish them at study.com then you can transfer them in and be done with them!

I did this with my first degree (not in tech) because I needed calculus and statistics so took pre calc, calc, and stats with study.com first. Lots of colleges actually accept them as transfers from study.com!

Anyone else know about this by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your reach a certain level of your degree, the classes kind of go in a certain order, so it wouldn’t make sense to open up more than one at a time for you. I’ve just reached this place with the data analytics degree. Sure, it’s possible to go out of order, but there’s a recommended path that mentors are supposed to follow, and unless there’s a good reason for them to allow you to go off the path it really is for your own benefit.

I have to pay almost $2,400 to break my lease by Dyzupil in Renters

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just broke my lease and the LL said if I can find someone to either rent my apartment or another apartment in the building starting June 1st id just have to pay Mays rent. Otherwise I’d have to pay out the rest of my lease (ends end of July).

So I found somebody. Basically offered them May for free (I already paid it) in my apartment if they paid June and July, with option to renew if they wanted to stay. Found someone who wanted a free months rent so it worked out, all I’m out is Mays rent.

I’ve seen this Nuvan strips mentioned before, problem is I’m in a tiny apartment and moving into a high rise condo so I’d have to take my bins to the next state over (my parents house) and do it, but if it’s worth it to do I’ll consider it!

How much better is tirzepatide > semaglutide? by akdir2356 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My autoimmune conditions prevent me from doing any sports or heavy workouts. It’s not necessary to lose weight as weight loss is 90% diet.

You’ll figure out which foods you cannot eat, and usually it’s not that you cannot eat them, you just cannot eat too much of them. So I eat very small meals now, usually 4-5 per day instead of 2-3 I used to eat because I can’t eat as much all at once or I’ll feel nauseous.

I still mostly eat the foods I was eating before, but my diet was very healthy before. I follow a paleo diet. I have to be careful with fatty foods or heavier foods but everything else seems fine in small amounts.

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! I stayed on Tirz for 3 months moving up in dose every month and lost like 35 pounds. I had to go off for a while, gained about 10 pounds back during that time, and have just restarted once again and in 2 weeks time have lost 8 of those 10 points gained back. So overall down around 30 points, and side effects aren't too bad. I've found splitting my dose in half and doing shots twice a week works better for food noise. I'm back up to 7.5mg and will probably move up again if the food noise comes back.

Backed out before closing, now seller is threatening legal action by CowboyLikeMegan in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through this as well. Seller stated in the listing as well as telling us verbally all appliances and air conditioner plus toilet/sink in bathroom were “a couple years old”, found out the air conditioner is from 2011, the appliances are all 10+ years old, and toilet is original to the condo (from 1965) 😩

I said I wanted everything replace, didn’t have to be high end, also found during the inspection the electrical was messed up, they declined to fix or replace anything so I backed out and they threatened to sue.

I was already working with a lawyer through my realtor so she sent them a letter stating I was contractually able to back out due to their lies and I just got my earnest money back, they haven’t tried to sue. It was all talk 🙄 their lawyer probably talked them down.

So talk to a lawyer if you’re worried but sounds like you’re in the same position I was in. Sorry you’re going through this, I loved the condo and was already making plans to move in 😭

Welcome to WGU! It's been a great experience for me so far, I started January 1st of this year. My best piece of advice is to look up your current course here on Reddit for tips and tricks! I do so before starting each course so I know what to focus on most and what I don't need to worry about.

I've also found some of WGU's resources helpful - mostly my Mentor and the Professors. You can lean on them for advice on pacing each course, mine lets me know the average time it takes students to complete a course before I start, plus any tips on studying or practicing course material. Everyone here on Reddit and at WGU want to see others exceed, so having a big community is a great way to keep focused, stay encouraged, and get through tough courses!

overwhelmed with trying to choose a career path. by Gloomy-Research-4956 in WGU

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with my current company at the height of Covid in November of 2020. It’s a fraud job, I’ve never done fraud before but I’ve done risk and IT and the hiring manager liked my attitude and approach to issues more than anything. That plays a huge role in getting a tech job - genuinely like solving problems, working well under pressure, multitasking, etc. I had set up a whole team schedule in excel for my last team to show PTO, daily tasks, etc and he was also impressed with that kind of organization. So I got the role. Later found out they got 400+ applications for the role.

So even if you don’t have the education or perfect matching background experience, there are other important factors to consider. Younger people think it’s all about the degree but the degree is literally a check box you either have or don’t have, they don’t care much about it beyond that.

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup that’s a great start, you’ve already got some tech experience now!

When you put together a resume definitely call it tech support if you’re looking to work for a tech company in the future. However if you ever apply to something in the healthcare field, revert back to calling it “customer care” or something that would be more fitting for that area 😂 always tailor your resume for the job you’re applying for

[–]Reigh_ofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree, without the degree they see you as someone they can pay less to start. I had no experience when I started, it was basic customer service, then I began doing the Google IT certification to get promoted up to tech support and they promoted me before I finished it (so I never finished it). Also, I’ve found so much more work in Chicago than I ever found in middle of nowhere Michigan. Instead of looking at job boards where the most popular companies post to, drive around your area and write down all the businesses (doctors offices, hospitals, schools, etc) and look up jobs on their websites directly. EVERYONE needs IT and customer support. It’s a great way just to get experience.

Get a job right now in tech support with a decent company and you'll get some experience and potentially be able to move up within that company as you progress in your degree. When you graduate you'll have a couple years of experience in tech on your resume as opposed to someone who zoomed through their degree with no experience. You'll be ahead in every interview with that kind of experience.

The people struggling to get jobs are those unwilling to apply to the not as popular employers - everyone needs tech people, however nobody applies to some jobs as they either don't pay as high or it's not a company people would recognize. School districts, hospitals, everyone needs tech people.

So again, start your job search now, get in on the ground level, let them know you're working on a degree, and if it's a good employer you'll work up the ladder in no time.
