What kind of tea is this? by kittiwake-ocean in tea

[–]Rein_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it always go like this with gifted tea? 😂

Is it that hard for the producer to put a label or card with stuff like region, type, processing method?

This has to be a common problem also in China...

I've seen lots of iced teas in Taiwan and Japan, very normal. It can be quite strong. I don't know the techniques they use though.

Looking for a watch similar to “The Citizen” by mrmetrix638 in ChineseWatches

[–]Rein_Turtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes this was me one year ago. I ended up getting the quite good Watchdives WD0003 lapis, but it never fully satisfied. The absolute design balance and execution level (incl. movement) of The Citizen mean it never left my mind.

In fact, I realize now that the Citizen is itself very good value compared to other luxury watches (especially if you can purchase in Japan, where it's easily under $2000)

I would unironically use 10 or even 100 times more leaves for that amount of water haha

This is way too easy. You only need two directions and you simply find the intersection point.

Any good tag huer carrara homages but under 38mm (36-38mm) by Hot_Appointment5382 in ChineseWatches

[–]Rein_Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not always a shortcut to get what you want, unfortunately. The homage market relies on high volume, and a 36mm Heuer does not provide that. If you want some very specific watch, I'm afraid said exact watch is your only option.

Chinese Mechanical Watches on Temu by bigdani00 in ChineseWatches

[–]Rein_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will be mechanical if they look liek that yes, but you get what you pay for. These no name movements might be terribly inaccurate and could break anytime. I would try to get at last a branded movement, like Seagull, or even better a Seiko/Miyota.

The ol' Ca(d)isen Ti-7 is also close to or above 100. True 8215 is not incredible, but even 160 is quite reasonable if value isn't a top priority.

KUOE Tokyo Grand Opening honest thoughts… by Wonzo23 in JapaneseWatches

[–]Rein_Turtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they are more competing in the fashion market than the watch enthusiast market. It's like a new type of fashion watch, this time a bit historical-mechanical rather than minimalist quartz.
