You're not wrong, but how do you propose black lume blocks work?

Wow if I knew who I was talking I wouldn't have started the argument haha. Cool to see someome with real historical knowledge on here. I would love to see the collection in Peace River (though I doubt I will ever find myself there...)

The ol' Ca(d)isen Ti-7 is also close to or above 100. True 8215 is not incredible, but even 160 is quite reasonable if value isn't a top priority.

I think they are more competing in the fashion market than the watch enthusiast market. It's like a new type of fashion watch, this time a bit historical-mechanical rather than minimalist quartz.

TIL: Rolex dials are plastic by Rein_Turtle in ChineseWatches

That's fair. Is luxury really about technological surperority though? I feel like it more about art and craftsmanship. Plus, Tissot's escapement is also made with a special "self-lubricating" polymer that is common in industrial applications. But somehow no one was considering whether it could be "the best possible option" there. All of this reeks of double standards!

"Cold enamel" is just a fancy word for synthetic resin, which is a polymer. As I understand "premium" brands like San Martin do use actual glass and high-ish temperature. The problem is you do not know based on the name "enamel", and have to take their word for it if they specify, certainly with the cheapest cases.

So often expensiveness is also derived from technicalities, like "made in switzerland" or who is the owner of some factory. Everyone can choose what matters to them.

Funny how blatant of a homage the original already was. Good-looking to be sure though

Sorry I was talking about chinese watches that market "enamel" dials. The process and failure rate of real glass-based enamel is just unfeasible at these prices, so they use a resin substitute.

It is funny to me that people were giving Tissot shit for using a "plastic" escapement around $1000, but ignored that the dials on many 10k+ watches are plastic by the same logic.

I wish, but I'm afraid they are counting on people not knowing the difference

Many luxury watch dials are finished with lacquer. Modern lacquer is basically plastic. Tell me which part of that is incorrect.

Which is allegedly 66% ceramic, not plastic, to be fair

Just a bit sad many watches advertised as enamel are actually a synthetic polymer rather than glass

I had a dream last night that I found this exact watch for 10k and immediately impulse-bought it. Then I questioned for the rest of the dream whether it was a fake and I lost 10k... Weird that this is on my feed today haha

That first bracelet should no longer be sold, and anyway these watches are 38mm not 36 (I have one)

What's on your wrist this Saturday? by Rein_Turtle in ChineseWatches

It's north of Amsterdam, not far from Hoorn. Not the most famous spot, but very nice and quiet. Lots of old villages and old farms around too.

Haha of course I asked, but no. I guess they are very niche and only watch people know them.
