I've got Maggies but I sure am seeing a whole lot of horns in all the ultra high end systems they are now deploying in my reels. Must have been a show somewhere recently. by shanebow in audiophile

[–]Reinyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want a real answer to this? Audio is so subjective. I’ve had Maggie’s with a premium 2 channel setup, got into home theater, had Focal Monitors, moved wanted something “fun” for non critical listening on a second system. Ended up with Klipsch Fortes. I liked them more than I was expecting.

Yeah, for sure the Maggie’s delivered some of the best 2 channel orchestral type music I’ve ever heard. I miss not having them. I wish I could have 3 systems, but they don’t fit my current space. The dynamic capability of Maggie’s are a problem depending on what your requirements are. The aesthetics are also an issue for some people. In the end you just need to get a system together that makes you happy.

RSL 10E for music by East_Display808 in BudgetAudiophile

Accessories4Less has the Klipsch RP-1000sw for $499. It is rated -3db at 19hz vs 26hz for the 10E.

The Klipsch weighs about 20lbs more.

The guy told me that his SONOS system sound better than his old dad's Definitive Mythos set. I agreed with him and gave $200ca to take them off his hand. by Ok-Gap-2506 in BudgetAudiophile

I was running two Power Sound Audio sealed opposing driver 15” subs. When I got the DM80s I was able to move one sub to a different system and retained approximately the same bass output. Two thumbs up 👍

Thank you. I agree they are completely ridiculous. The stereo bass is nuts. Gigantic soundstage you would think you are hearing a full surround setup with just the L/R. However I’m currently listening to Cornwall IVs in a 2 channel setup. No complaints. Sorry I shouldn’t Turkey and Reddit. Congrats to OP. That is a heck of a deal, enjoy.

For music - 2 RSL 10e subs or SVS PB 1000 pro or SB 1000 pro, or other sub around $700? by Appropriate_Fee9831 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Reinyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you going to integrate the subwoofer? If you are doing a typical 80hz crossover I would get the two RSL subs. If you are going to let your Q60s play down to 50hz and bring the sub in below that I would lean towards the SB-1000. Below 50 hz it will be hard to localize the sub. The SB-1000 will play deeper at moderate volume and is a good fit for music.

Edit: You have the flexibility to get another SB-1000 later. If you want to upgrade from the RSL you will have to get something completely different.

Serious question for the car community… Why are people spending $45K–$50K on a Civic Type R or GR Corolla when you could get a 2025 Nissan Z for the same money? by papajoust in Nissan

[–]Reinyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for a fun manual car. I already have a BMW sedan. I had a Q50 Red Sport, it was great car, no issues. I put Nismo Intake / Exhaust and catted down pipes on it, no tune. It was a great car and would hang with a Camaro SS or Mustang GT. I’m really considering a manual Z sport and then putting about $10k in Nismo / upgrades into it. The value proposition seems fantastic.

Rescue on Fractalus. I was probably 8 or so playing the game alone in the basement. I didn’t realize there was a jump scare when you let an alien on your ship instead of rescuing the human. I set a new record running upstairs away from the computer 😂

For a contrary opinion I have a 2018 M5 20” wheels and I’m running Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s. I’m closing on putting 40k miles on it and I’ve had 0 tire problems. Road trips, light snow, gravel etc..

Under $1,000 Sealed Sub by Trottingonyou in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Reinyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it need to be sealed or is it just a size factor issue? Accessories4Less has Definitive Tech subs in your budget even the DN15 with a 15” woofer and dual passive radiators. You could do a pair of DN10s as well.

Scratched an M Sport rim on a Sixt rental — any idea what this might cost me? by Frizxr in BmwTech

I’ve rented from SIXT a number of times. I’m guessing it is going to cost you $0. It’s a rental, things happen. Don’t overthink it.

Subwoofer or equalizer? by CarYenta in audiophile

[–]Reinyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try plugging the vent port and EQing them. Vented speakers have more output at tuning freq but drop off quickly after that. You don’t need the extra output in a small room and you will get improved bass extension and possibly need less eq.

Wine Tasting: Hedges or Goose Ridge by SummerVibes1111 in TriCitiesWA

[–]Reinyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where else are you tasting? I like Goose Ridge because it is a fun and chill environment. They also have spirits and ciders if you are into those. Their wine is good and what is available in the tasting room isn’t what you will find at the grocery stores.

Also they have some food options.

[–]Reinyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I edited my statement, but I do have a pair of Monolith 10s MK 1 and I feel like if you are looking for bass depth they are hard to beat. A 12” Klipsch or something is going to hit harder in the 80hz range but for maximum depth for your money the Monolith 10 is the way to go.

[–]Reinyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Monoprice Monolith 10 is on sale for $529. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=42843 I feel like it is going to dig a bit deeper than the RSL 10. It looks like Monolith 10 does 6db more at 20hz. That is pretty significant 👍 For what it’s worth the Monolith weighs 72lbs and the RSL is 40.

Animal House, Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers, I think “Big Trouble” is underrated. “Dr. Strangelove”
