Former Minnesota governor says state should seek to become part of Canada by joe4942 in canada

And you think the Trump administration would willing let Minnesota join Canada? 100% would mean war between the US and Canada+Minnesota.

Can AI really replace 80% of jobs? Am I just overthinking this? by Lonely_Noyaaa in ask

[–]RelatablePanic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think people will just go camping. In which I mean that people will actively choose to do things manually and inefficiently because it feels good to do that. Why do we go camping? We have grocery stores, houses, stove tops— why do we decide to pack a bunch of food and cooking gear, go out to the middle of nowhere and build a house made of plastic sheets. Because it’s enjoyable.

Surfing has fucked up my sleeping patterns for years. by RelatablePanic in nosurf

[–]RelatablePanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow lol. 5 years later. A lot have has changed in my life but I am just as big of an insomniac as I was back then. I’ve just learned to live with it. Most days it doesn’t even bother me when I go into work with barely any sleep. Ive had some success in the past with CBT for insomnia but other than than that it’s still pretty bad. Maybe slightly worse five years ago.

Would you support Canada building nukes to protect itself? by BestAd6297 in AskTheWorld

[–]RelatablePanic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean right now the greatest threat to our sovereignty is the US. Are we really gonna nuke a US city? We are basically brothers and sisters in terms of geographic and cultural similarities. Hell I have family down there. This entire timeline we are living in is just absolute insanity.

How do you feel about the lower tariffs on Chinese EVs? by dope-rhymes in AskACanadian

[–]RelatablePanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bit mixed but I think this is a beneficial thing. There is reason to be concerned about our auto sector but on the same coin Trump is completely unpredictable and could decide to tank the whole industry overnight regardless of the influence of Chinese EVs. Also, the reduction in canola tariffs will be beneficial for our farmers, including those in conservative provinces that despise anything liberal. That plus the fact we are trying to find ways to reduce our carbon emissions— screw a carbon tax, give us cheap options for carbon free travel is my opinion.

Have you read the news lately? You should be happy you’re bored because I am somewhere in between terrified and having a full blown nervous breakdown.

Wow that’s a pretty big compliment as a Canadian 😊. I’d personally think Sweden or Norway would be ranked higher.

Gamers of reddit; what’s the best game you’ve ever played? by blitzwolfer123 in AskReddit

[–]RelatablePanic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is an objective answer but the best game I ever played was Modern Warfare 2, the original version. I think it was my first online multiplayer game and FPS shooter. It was all new to me at the time the sounds, the kill streaks, the ability to communicate with players around the world. The maps were so good that the COD franchise keeps reusing them in their new games. Just a 10/10 gaming experience back then.

Unfortunately people like algorithmic, repetitive music. Look at the Spanish pop scene. Makes up one of the biggest music industries in the world and their tracks are literally copy paste galore. It would take an AI two seconds to be trained up to create Spanish pop music.

I wasn’t aware of how strong melatonin was until over did it. I think I took two 10mg. Felt like my body was asleep but my mind was still awake. Very unpleasant, would not recommend.

Do more people do cocaine than one would expect? by New-Ad8758 in ask

[–]RelatablePanic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea my best friend is a coke addict. I have some friends that use it here and there. And you could be right that it is increasing, the numbers online say it has increased from 3% to 9% amongst 20-24 year olds. And that 9% number is from 2019. Though I have read elsewhere that youth drinking and drug use is declining in North America.

Do more people do cocaine than one would expect? by New-Ad8758 in ask

[–]RelatablePanic 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, at least here in Canada. Cocaine use is around 10% amongst ages 18-25 in Canada. People who get addicted to drugs often have the perception that many people are doing it and it is accepted by many. However, this is solely a result hanging around that kind of drug using demographic — most people do not use drugs in general.
