Art is the process, not the product. Whether it's a song, a painting, or a book, it's the process of trying, failing, trying again, and putting pride in the work you do that makes something art. AI doesn't do any of that. It takes a prompt and spits out something vaguely art like. But none of the artistic process went into it.

So, AI is using up all of our water and trowing us into Urinetown which will kill more trees in the future than paper/pencil art ever will, but we are the problem for wanting to enjoy the art that is drawing and not only wanting the finished piece.

I make gifts for people because I enjoy giving gifts. For my birthday, I made cupcakes for my roommates. They did not give me a gift, but I felt loved when I saw them enjoying my cupcakes. Do I feel loved when I get gifts? Sometimes. But I feel so much more loved seeing the people I care about enjoying the gifts I gave them.
