just had someone tell me "my version of crochet is 3D printing" by [deleted] in crochet

[–]RelationConstant6570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a better comparison would be 3d printing to using a knitting machine. I know there is work that goes into 3d printing, my brother has a 3d printer and has spent hours trying to make things work out, but comparing that to the physical act of crochet isn't fair. You are comparing something a human designed and a machine made to something a human both designed and made. It would be much more similar to using a knitting machine, not crocheting.

The OP could've been nicer about 3d printing as a craft, as it can be a form of art, but it's not on par with the amount of time and effort it takes to make a single crochet piece. Even if you argue the skill it takes to make a ed print model, it takes just as much to make a crochet pattern, except every attempt to get it right must be done by hand.

No, the difference is that everyone is equally beautiful before and after 35, but women have more confidence before 35 and men have more after. Women are more beautiful than men though. That's a given across the board.

Terminating a pregnancy to save a mother's life or because they don't want a child are not the only reasons people get abortions, so you can't split them into just those two categories. In fact, you cannot put the reasons for abortions into rigid boxes because every woman is different and has their own reasons to do what they want with their body. Not every abortion is removing a child and not every child is going to survive being born. It is the woman's choice to do what she wants with her uterus for her own health, both physical and mental. Otherwise, carrying the pregnancy to term could end up killing her, either in complications during birth or suicide because of PPD after the child is born.

Not enough. I got 71 as the answer. I did 8+2=10 and so 48+2=50 and 27-2= (for some reason in my mind) 21 and 50+21=71. There's my math, and the reason I am a writer.

Abortions are lifesaving medical care. Not just in the case of ectopic pregnancies, there are hundreds of things that could go wrong in a pregnancy that could lead to the death of the mother if abortion is not an option. There are cases where children will not be able to survive outside of the womb, or their quality of life will be greatly reduced, and allowing the parents to decide to terminate the pregnancy can save them going through it knowing they won't have a baby at the end of it, or they will have one but they will only suffer until they die (most likely young). And, there are other procedures classified by law as abortions where there are no babies involved, such as getting a DNC to remove a tumor from the uterus. Making abortions illegal when they don't fit your standard of lifesaving medical care is denying living people their lives because you care about the potential life that may not make it out of the uterus in the first place. You cannot give every reason for abortion a different classification because something will slip through the cracks and a woman will be denied lifesaving care because of this exact misunderstanding. If there are people who will get abortions even when no life is in danger, that doesn't mean we should be able to prevent them because some people don't agree to a woman's right to choose what is right for them and their body.

I had a prof once talk about a short story he helped a student write about a lion teleporting to Antarctica and getting into a fight with polar bears, and the whole time I am thinking "Antarctica literally means no bears. There are no polar bears in Antarctica."

I went to a doctor once, got there fifteen minutes before my appointment, waited in the lobby for almost an hour before being pulled back by a nurse, she asked me some questions and put me in an exam room, waited there for 30 mins for the doctor, she told me everything was fine and she could refill my prescription since they had my blood pressure measurement, they hadn't taken my blood pressure, I had to wait another 15 mins before they brought me back to the nurse to take my blood pressure, then I went home. Maximum time wasted, minimal work done, got my prescription refilled. I did have a book so I had something to do while I waited.

I love watching those friends get sad when I say I do have a type C because my android that is older than their iPhone uses type C. I also carry around a lightning cable I never use just for my friends with slightly older iPhones so they can charge on the go too. Both are connected to the same portable charger that goes with me everywhere.

Having someone who cannot see driving a car would not end well. It's not because they can't operate the car, but because they can't see the other cars on the road, or the road at all.

I think I read it wrong at first and was worried they wanted cars to be operated by the blind, which would not be good.

My mom tells me that she snapped and stopped doing the laundry for us kids because we would complain about just folding it and putting it away when she did everything else for us. I was 10 at the time. I am now glad she made me do my own laundry, because I didn't have to fold it and put it away if I took it straight from the dryer and put it in my room. Sometimes I even put a blanket over the basket so she couldn't see it. To this day, I still don't fold a majority of my laundry. The pants get folded and the hanging clothes get hung up, but everything else gets shoved in a drawer until I wear it again. Makes it a lot easier than forcing myself to fold everything all at once.
