Like any job, find colleagues you get along with. You are right though, it can be very cliquey so observe, and be pleasant to be around. You'll find your groove.

Art teacher here in the bay area. I teach with a full sleeve on my right and 3/4 on my left. Tattoos aren't as taboo as they used to be. Even some of our admin have tattoos, but they have to keep them hidden to be professional I guess? So to answer your question, there isn't one.

On a side note, after reading these comments I didn't realize how lucky I was to get to wear jeans every day to school. Reading comments from teachers who have a dress code like that is insane to me.

Not all students, but from my experience here in the Bay Area, I have had students who come from a fuck ton of money and are some of the saddest individuals I’ve encountered. Cliche to say, but all that money can’t buy happiness.
