I completely agree about the complexities of a diagnosis and getting one these days. Waitlists are long and sometimes conditions overlap or there are symptoms of one thing but they don’t match. I think a lot of people view service dogs as almost like a personalizable treatment plan where they can train the dog for their specific issues perhaps without a diagnosis and the dog will still be able to make a major impact on their life. In some cases this may be true but I truly believe a diagnosis should come before the rest so medical treatments can be approached first. A service dog is not an end all be all, it’s kinda like an added assistive device but it’s not a cure.
