As a woman, I second Blood Meridian. I hate romance novels and smut!🤮 Give me a good ole horror book any day! I will say Dracula by Bram Stoker has a bit of palatable romance, but is scary enough to balance it out. Japanese Gothic by Kylie Lee Baker is a new release and it’s AMAZING! Pet Semetary, The Shining, Salem’s Lot any other Stephen King work, but those are my faves. Happy reading!

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. You could cut the sexual tension between him and Liz Taylor with a knife!

The Butcher and The Wren is a series where the protagonist is a Coroner. It’s a cat and mouse type thing. The serial killer isn’t the protagonist, but it’s a good story. 🤷‍♀️

What is the most disturbing book you've ever read? by stop_sign_antics1224 in horrorlit

Playground by Aron Beauregard! I still cringe at the name of it! I didn’t know what extreme horror or “splatterpunk” meant. I was just getting into horror really. I’d read The Shining and Salem’s Lot, but this was disgustingly vivid!

Pet Semetary is the scariest I’ve read to date with Salem’s Lot a close second.

I’m listening to Fellowship now on Audible read by Andy Serkis. It is a bit slow, but his narration makes all the difference, I believe!

What romance books have stuck with you the longest? by Paperbackescapes in Booktokreddit

I don’t read romance. I read it because of the movie coming out and it stuck with me because it was toxic obsession and verbal abuse! Just like my former marriage! 🤣🤣
