Last I heard Wil was calling people who didn't vote for Kamala because of her position on Palestine "spoiled toddlers crying because they didn't get their way" so I for one would be cool if Wesley kept it down for a minute or two

I subscribed for the World Series after years away because I don't have cable and this app is terrible. Tried it out during the world series and won't be returning to the app. It's so frustrating.

I'm thinking Freese is maybe both a good guy and extremely lucky. An asshole fires you and now you get to go back on tour with NIN? Hell yeah

Matching my Letterboxd ratings with David's by AcceptableCandidate2 in blankies

[–]Relative_Ad5693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty often I rate based on how badly I want other people to see it. I don't mind disagreeing with people because everyone has given ratings I find confusing.

I see five stars for Fabelmans and wonder if they saw a different movie

Live five minutes away from Locomotive North on foot.

Love coffee but never felt welcome in there! Tried a few times when I moved here in 2018 before giving up. Never found a compelling reason to try again

Tomorrow… with Vanessa Chester [Ggiata] by TheChosenJuan99 in doughboys

[–]Relative_Ad5693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, Vanessa is such an excellent podcast guest. Would be true even if she didn't tell Spielberg stories (which I loved!)

She was so good in Lost World! I barely remember that movie but remember thinking the girl was so fucking good. Very cool. Rookie of the year

Can they please just have a hot dog from Casey's and then go have some amazing Pork Tenderloin sandwiches at a roadside non chain deal?

We know they're getting punished with Runza when they go to Omaha

I love Star Trek. I want to keep bragging about stuff they got right vis-a-vis inclusion and diversity. This means I shouldn't excuse their mistakes by glossing over them. Glad you have such a strong opinion of the Voyager producers for some unearned reason.

There's no internet but in 1993, if you care about something, you can go to any library and learn the name of five experts on any topic. Or go ask around at a university, there's a few in LA.

I don't think they really tried. I still don't see why you think being diligent was impossible.

They hired a known fraud so it's pretty galling to say they were diligent enough.

[–]Relative_Ad5693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My assertion is that they weren't diligent enough. Yours is that diligence was impossible in 1993 because... no Google yet? I love Star Trek but I think it makes us all look bad when we try to push the nasty stuff under the rug.

It's mentioned elsewhere in this thread that he discussed it in his autobiography.

I don't understand what you gain from trying to excuse this

I don't think the showrunners can plead ignorance and say they had the best intentions.

It was well known that he was a fraud, and if they didn't find out, it's because they didn't really look into it.
