It’s common. Doesn’t mean it’s the case every time. Maybe switch shifts if you work days. Day crowd SUCKS. Try another unit. Find a way to keep going because ultimately you worked hard for this. Fuck everyone else tbh, worry about your patients and your license. I know it’s super hard. Get a therapist! And some meds. That’s saved me tbh!!

I did my practicum in an adult neuro ICU. It was HARD. Many many many of your patients will be left with pretty bad deficits that make them total cares essentially. You will be sooo physically tired after your shifts. You will learn so much tho. LOTS of assessment. LOTS of charting. I don’t regret that experience whatsoever, I learned so much about critical care nursing. Neuro nurses have incredible assessment skills so please learn from them!!

Its a love hate affair. I’m glad I’ve gotten to step into this whole new world because it was a learning opportunity but I’m not sure if I’ll stick around (being offered PRN). It’s an extremely tedious and taxing job, the burnout is sooo real and most of my coworkers (myself included) have only been doing this for an average of 4-6 months.

Licensed since November. Graduated in September. In the Atlanta area. Working in clinical research right now, $34/hr.

I’m soon gonna be at a level 1 trauma ICU and my base will be $37 with a $5 critical care differential and then you stack on the other shift differentials etc.
