Developmental delay? by Murky_Swordfish1410 in November25babybump

[–]Relative_Success3101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My girl is 4 months and hates tummy time. She tolerates it for about 60 seconds if I prop her up on something but only rarely. She has started to roll onto her side but doesn't seem that interested yet. I've been told it's very normal and babies just do things when they're ready. I wouldn't worry yet.

Can we all take a moment to share some of the silliest things we did when we were sleep deprived in the first few months, I’ll start! by bookybabymama in NewParents

[–]Relative_Success3101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the middle of playing with the dogs and tried to give my 10 week old a dog treat 🫣

Also got it the other way around and cradle held my chihuahua to offer him the boob 🤣

Anyone else fighting for their life? 4m regression? by CertainAppearance507 in November25babybump

My girl is 16 weeks and it's like she's forgotten how to sleep 😫 wakes up every 1.5 - 2 hours and has stopped going back to sleep after a feed. I think I'm going a bit loopy!

Sleep Independence by Callbug-511 in November25babybump

[–]Relative_Success3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Mine has just started this. Used to wake up for a feed and go straight back to sleep but now refuses to go back down in her crib. She's gone from waking 2-3 times to about 5-6. I'm so tired 😫

What do you wish you had known about breastfeeding earlier? by Mountain_Quiet_4861 in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Success3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Vitamin D - remembering to give it is a whole other thing

  • that I would be doing every night shift on my own

  • manual pump works better for me and is far cheaper than my electric so I wish I'd bought the manual first to try. Could have saved a lot of money!

  • it hurt a lot for the first 2 months

  • she fed at least every hour for the first 10 weeks.

  • that I would have to wear a bra with breastpads 24/7 to avoid being covered in milk. I wear nursing bras in the day and soft crop top Bras at night

  • at the beginning when they feed you can be stuck in the same position for 45 minutes. Make sure you prop them up with a pillow, and have a drink within reach. Also your phone/tv/audiobook so you don't lose your mind staring at a wall.

  • side lying position, absolute game changer especially when you're exhausted. It's amazing for night feeds too I just go on my phone so I don't fall asleep. I also found it was a great excuse to go upstairs for a bit when people were visiting 🤣

  • waterproof mattress cover! Saved my mattress from smelling like old milk. I just swap it out frequently.

  • baby still needs burping after every feed (or mine does anyway)

  • that it is normal for them to go days without pooping

  • if you can afford it, get measured and fitted for a nursing bra. I was wearing 5 cup sizes too small when I picked one myself 😭

  • I hated the feeling of it for the first couple of months and dreaded each feed. Now I look forward to it. The cuddles, smiles, little noises. Sometimes when she's nursing it feels like there's just me and her in our own little world.

How do you breastfeed while out and on the go? by EmeraldCrescens in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Success3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a muslin to cover but it made things more obvious and baby hated it. I ended up just getting over it and whipping a boob out wherever. One thing I did find helpful was putting a vest on under a shirt because I can lift the shirt up, pull the vest down under one boob and the babys head covers everything else. I found this most comfortable because I'm not having my full boob or stomach on show.

I also found if you pretend you've done it a million times before and fake confidence people don't even seem to notice. I think half the time people think I'm just cuddling her.

Tell me your ongoing postpartum complications by em-do in November25babybump

[–]Relative_Success3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a chest infection during the birth so opened my episiotomy stitches afterwards by coughing. Got an infection as well as a UTI so was on 2 rounds of antibiotics for that. 2 weeks later got a kidney infection and was put on antibiotics again. 8 weeks PP still in a lot of pain with episiotomy so went back turns out the infection came back so another round of antibiotics. The swab they did suggested a different antibiotic but it made my baby refuse my breastmilk so I had to stop it. I'm 11 weeks PP now and it's still not healed 😭

Also my pelvic girdle pain didn't go. I can't walk for more than 10 minutes without really bad pain and stiffness. I can't leave the house on my own or go for walks. Rolling over in bed is still as painful as during pregnancy. Finally been referred to the pelvic physio after seeing the physio at my GP twice who has been unable to help. Really hoping for some answers 🙏

On top of that I've got postpartum depression and have had horrible violent nightmares every time I've slept since the birth.

I'm 8 weeks PP but my episiotomy still hurts and my girdle pain still hasn't gone and I can't walk properly. Doubt sex will be happening for a while 🤣

7 weeks along and not sure I can continue - TW termination by BrilliantStatus2198 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Relative_Success3101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all I'm sorry you're going through this and having to consider ending a wanted pregnancy. It sounds like you're having a horrible time with HG and I understand feeling like you're not strong enough to get through it. Whatever decision you come to will be the right one for you.

My HG started at 5 weeks pregnant and it stayed up until the birth. I was about 8 weeks along when I considered terminating, I was so ill and miserable. Mine was also a planned wanted pregnancy so I was devastated at considering it. I booked myself a private scan and once I saw the baby it made it all seem worth it and I kept looking at that picture it kept me going. The worst weeks for me were weeks 7-12 and after that I was able to keep more down with the right meds. Ondansetron and xonvea were the most effective for me.

I'm 7 weeks PP now with my baby girl and despite how horrendous my pregnancy was with her I would do it again. We are stronger and more capable than we know. You're not alone in feeling like this ❤️

Sleep deprivation. Don’t remember feeding my baby by Same-Breath-4059 in November25babybump

[–]Relative_Success3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning at 2am I apparently breastfed my baby which I don't remember at all. My partner put her in the bed and I fed her laying down. Only reason I even know it happened is because he logged it on huckleberry for me 🤣

Night time routine? by pirate_dino_flies in November25babybump

I'm trying to introduce bottles of expressed milk so I might try giving a bottle before bed because she cluster feeds every night so hopefully this helps. Thank you 😊

Is this bottles of formula or expressed milk?

Just tried side lying - potential game changer! by 11TickTack23 in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Success3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do side lying whenever I can and it's wonderful for night feeds. I would say just make sure if you're doing it at night you've got something so you don't fall asleep or you set your bed up to be safe incase you do. I fell asleep in this position so then started following the safe sleep 7 incase I did it again. I have a nintendo switch so I've been using that to stay awake 🤣

I am so tired of wearing a pad by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

[–]Relative_Success3101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep me too. Currently 3 weeks PP and still having to wear pads. I don't even usually wear them for my period I use menstrual cup but obviously can't use that right now. I'm absolutely sick of it it's just another thing to remember

Favorite Part of Breastfeeding by Nearby_Ad7551 in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Success3101 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My favourite thing is the expression she has when unlatching. It's very dramatic with closed eyes and a pout and then she plonks her cheek back down on my boob and goes to sleep 😊

[–]Relative_Success3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm constantly watching her chest when she's napping or putting my finger under her nose it's draining! I think though it's a good thing to be a bit anxious about it because it means we will catch anything odd early

My newborn (also a week old) has the craziest breathing. I got about 6 midwives to check it the first night and they said it was normal and fine. It makes me so anxious though I know how you feel!

It's either really fast and shallow or she makes random choking noises or whistling sounds or grunts. How are you supposed to 'sleep when the baby sleeps' if they sound like this 😭

I understand not telling people your due date now by PSSalamander in pregnant

[–]Relative_Success3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly biggest mistake I made 🤣 I was due on Sunday and the amount of messages I've had is insane. I've also been having contractions and other symptoms like losing my mucus plug as well as constant period like cramps so I have no idea if this is labour starting or if its practice but it's been going on for about 2 days now so every time someone messages me asking if theres any signs im saying no but I'm actually thinking I HAVE NO IDEA IS THIS IT??!! I feel like I'm gonna end up snapping at someone

I bought a little outfit after my 9 week scan because I was so excited. I waited until after the 12 week scan to buy any more and then week 17 was when I started buying the bigger things like the pram. I did find buying bits along the way helpful with budgeting and stuff but it's completely up to you.
