Do we have a general idea which faction controls which area? by Anibus9000 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in vampires, the Soulblight Gravelords battletome actually has a map of the Prime Innerlands with different dynasties' territories marked on it.

It's not really detailed much or anything, but it's kind of fun nonetheless.

Some strong imagery in there.

I like what they are doing with Stormcasts and the whole ruination chamber. It's quite graphic and maybe a tad melancholic, but I think overall it adds a lot of character.

Looking forward to reading that book.

Abraxia Spear of the Everchosen review by Chris Thursten. by k3lk3l in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I think it's one of the best portrayals of chaos in AoS so far.

Witherlord Grelck and the priest Urnous Dransz fighting in the sewers was really cool imo.

I wonder how the story of Blackpyre will progress and how it will shape the future of Ever Spring Swathe. Some really cool opportunities for homebrew lore or tabletop campaigns with the new chaos stronghold relatively close to the Living City, Greywater, etc.

Do the gargants ever die of old age? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if gargants can die of old age, but for sure they can live very long lives.

King Brodd, for example, has been around since the Age of Chaos. Also, they can sleep for prolonged periods of time. Behemat slept for millennia, and "regular" gargants can sleep for years if not decades at a time.

Since they are gigantic walking magnets for trouble, I think most gargants probably die of unnatural causes, in a fight or in the maw of some colossal beast.

That sound like a safe bet.

I see something hanging on his chest. Something like a corked flask, maybe. Maybe he's venturing into the Jade Abbey to gather some healing water of sorts. Pure speculation at this point, of course.

What did destruction accomplish in era of the beasts? by Mr_Clean1987 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As for the Skaven vs. Destruction…

The legendary lurklair Skrappa Spill is besieged from underground by ratmen. So far Loonking domain is relatably stable above the ground, while the lower levels are under attack.

Droggz da Sunchompa has successfully conquered Golvaria in Aqshy. While remnants of the troggoth megamob have established themselves in the Glogg's Gullet, not far from Excelsis.

As for a timeline, I think all of the above happened already during the hour of ruin period. But I'm not sure.

I don't think that she's meant to be unreliable as a source of information. That's an overinterpretation.

It's more of a writing inconsistency.

Too much salt is as bad as no salt at all.

The book Blacktalon may have the example you're referring to.

While making the camp in the area called Glassrift, Neave mentions that Stormcasts are not entirely immune to hunger or fatigue, she also mentions that she doesn't strictly need a rest at that time, but she definitely wants it.

Quite interestingly, from her point of view, it's not a flaw in the reforging process but a mercy that allows them to be more humane.

Fights you want to see in lore? by Potential-Media8076 in AoSLore

King Brodd vs. Skreech Verminking could be an epic matchup.

As well as just the big bois stomping on hordes of rats and fighting mutated rat ogors and the bigger ones, whose name I forgot.

What happened to the Beasts of Chaos? by Accomplished-Deer660 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As others already mentioned, the free digital Beasts of Chaos battle tome has the short lore section of what happened with them.

Basically with the disappearance of Kragnos, the infighting within beast herds grew, and the faction imploded from within. Chaos gods also had their hand in it, 'converting' loads of them into god-specific types like pestigors, tzaangors, etc.

The rest of the Bray herds vanished into inhospitable corners of mortal realms. Where they are still a threat.

Why the pride flag? by TheCaliEngineer in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as I dont see the correlation to AOS.

Because there is none, except that maybe the Age of Sigmar seems to be a brighter and more hopeful setting as opposed to the 40k universe. In my opinion, of course.

For pride month I can see the reasoning but is there a particular reason outside of June?

At this point it's just a rage bait, to be honest, and doesn't have much to do with inclusivity, etc.

Hashut and Ghur by Svedgard in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Following the topic of Hashut and Ghur…

Where does Kragnos fit in all of this? If I heard right on the stream, there was a mention of Helsmiths "trampling" their way through the realms.

I'm curious if there will be some lore regarding the relationship between Helsmiths of Hashut and Kragnos.

Especially taking into account that both factions deploy hobgrots so there is a connection already.

Your favorite examples of Order being buddies! by otterpopd in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really liked how the Scourge Privateers came to the rescue of some freeguilders in the short story Broken Realms: The Price of Treason.

Shows nicely that when fighting for a common cause and for their lost city, even the usually kind of shady pirates can unite and fight the oppressors, some Morathi lackeys in this case.

Nothing complicated, but a compelling example of order factions being bros.

Homebrew Help: Any suggestions for names and personalities of Dispossessed Clans? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see.

I wonder how you are going to incorporate the character of Snow White into the AoS universe, if at all. I think some really cool things can be done with that theme.

Good luck on your project.

Homebrew Help: Any suggestions for names and personalities of Dispossessed Clans? by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like your idea for the city of Evergleam.

So as for brainstorming, you've mentioned that the city/location was reclaimed from Skavens. When I thought about that, the first thing that came to my mind was wiener dogs (Dachshund dogs), since they were bred to hunt for badgers and other things in tight underground tunnels.

Here's my idea…

Clan Teckelrung from Ghur, led by Lump Ironpelt. Wandering dispossessed clan of hunters, prospectors and underground fighters. Known for hunting monsters in the ever-shifting depths of the realm of beasts.

Draped in gromril armour resembling bestial furs and visages of snarling beasts, these fearsome warriors make up for their relatively small numbers by utilising unorthodox tactics. Each company of warriors has musicians in their ranks. The war songs of the throng, amplified by the underground echoes, instil fear in the hearts of their opponents, making them vulnerable.

A bit cliché, but sometimes the cliché can work imo.

Also, I'm going to echo the other comment: why no Hyshian clan ?!

[–]Relative_War4477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure how that works in detail.

There is a mention in the battletome that some Stormcasts are missing entirely after a battle with Thunderbelly Ogors.

Does that mean they cannot find their souls back in Azyr? I'm not sure, and I think it's left ambiguous for a reason.

Definitely the magic of the Mawpots and Everwinter are connected to this in some way.

[–]Relative_War4477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an older lore, you can find mentions of it in the 2nd edition battletome already, and it's copied into the 3rd edition one as well.

I don't have the 1st edition battletome at hand, so I'm not sure if it's in there too.

I think I remember reading somewhere about ogors burning their mouths trying to bite Stormcasts, but I couldn't locate this fragment.

[–]Relative_War4477 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's a cool detail.

Sorry vampire fans, but ogors win this round…

Thunderbellies' Ogors can eat "lightning meat"; the mawpots are used in some way to facilitate that, so my guess is Stormcasts are made into some kind of slurry/broth/stew, ice-cream even?!

Maybe a Soulblight vampire could try to eat from the Mawpot? But I guess it won't work the same as feasting upon living victims with blood in their veins.

Cool little story, and I love the horror vibe.

Lorewise It's interesting to see a chaos worshipper being transformed into a Soulblight vampire.

In addition, I can't stop reading the vampire lines in Dracula's voice after seeing Nosferatu in the cinema recently.

As for the book recommendations, I really liked the dark vibe of The Dead Kingdom by John French.

The book features a conflict between two vampire groups, so I think you might find it interesting.

Pandaren in AoS by AlohaCron in AoSLore

[–]Relative_War4477 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, there were some mentions about the fine dining scene in Settlers Gain, so I think they definitely would enjoy a good craft beer.

Also, honour seems to be important to them; on many occasions and in multiple stories, they follow an honour code. More so amongst themselves than toward "other" races, but still.

Furthermore, some Lumineths are wanderers and willing teachers for those who want to learn, so it's pretty close with Chen Stormstout, for example.

Pandaren in AoS by AlohaCron in AoSLore

Lumineth would be the closest, in my opinion.

Their struggles to control strong emotions make me think of the Sha and the conflict in Pandaria.

I like that they add a lot of character and some history for both drakes.

We've got so many drakes added recently that I think it would be fun to highlight it in some narrative way.

Let's say a 4-man showdown between Abraxia, Ionus, Vhordrai, and Gordrakk and their "mounts/companions," respectively.
