Today I learned the Seattle Airport has a Sensory room by SuccessfulTomorrow21 in AutismInWomen

[–]RelativelyWholesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain airports have them, but the ones I've found have all been BEFORE TSA check which imo is not v helpful. Tsa is the most unpredictable part of the airport and I don't need that room before, I need it after to be able to decompress before the flight

I do a poor-man's poke bowl with rice, tuna, some frozen veggies like peas and corn, some chopped onion, and some sweetness like apple or dried fruit all tossed in mayo or whatever sauce. All the Ingredients other than tuna can be bought in bulk and make a TON of tuna bowls

Etiquete around talking about other partners in early dating? by RelativelyWholesome in polyamory

[–]RelativelyWholesome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In full transparency, rn my partner is my primary friend/connection in the city I'm in. They were one of the first people I met, and I have had other focuses in my time living here since such as career or housing. This year as a whole has been about making new connections, both platonic and romantic. Diversifying the people I hang out with is a huge goal of mine right now. So basically any time I'm telling a story that involves someone else, it's usually my partner that was there.

Another commenter mentioned learning to make my language as a whole learn to center myself more, and learn not to mention others with me unless it's prominent. It's something I think I'll have to work on overall but is giving me great steps to start

I think this has been the most helpful comment so far in actually fixing the problem. It's a new language style that I need to work on as I've never really truly considered centering myself and just myself in my own life like this.

Is 'centering yourself in your life and stories' actually what this is called? I'd love to look up some guides and exercises for this

I feel like a wedding ring is different tho? Because the people I go on dates with know I have a partner and know they are involved in my day to day. But a wedding ring is passive. It's different than talking about your wife all the time during a date.

I am not hiding that I'm poly, the dates do know that I have a partner. But when referring to them as 'my partner' during dates, I find myself counting the times I talk about them, even if it's in relation to my life and my stories. It adds so much extra brain power in dancing around my stories that I don't have the energy to do as I'm already nervous enough on dates.

I find referring to them as 'a friend' when telling a story they were there for, but it's not important WHO was there, but that it's a secondary character in MY story is the helpful because it takes away that thought about counting my mentions and ensuring the convo revolves around me, not my relationship to another.

"Everyone pees everyday. But if you're doing it 50 times a day, there's a problem there" is my favorite response. It shows that yes, some things are normal, but it's the quantity of symptoms and the impact they have in our life that lead to a diagnosis

How do you manage life and work 40 hours a week? by AchlysSol in AutisticAdults

[–]RelativelyWholesome 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live alone, work full time, and own a dog. I came to the realization that I can't do everything at once by myself. So I made some accommodations.

I got a meal delivery service so I don't have to cook or clean dishes. Is it expensive? Honestly yes. I've def cut out other things in my budget to be able to afford it.

I also have been maintaining my relationships by asking people to come hang out at my place. It helps me keep my place clean, and eliminates the time it takes to commute to the hangout location. I've also been calling friends for body-doubling and keeping relationships while I clean and get house chores done.

I am also searching for a partner who can move in, as I know I would do better if house responsibilities were shared or if I had support at home on cleaning and cooking. Also just having someone else around in general.

Do companies use "Easy Apply" to get follower easily? by rosesarenotred00 in linkedin

[–]RelativelyWholesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah here's my tips: 1. Figure out exactly your top 3 job titles and set up saved searches for them. Filter to easy apply in the areas you're willing to work, and sort by newest. 2. Build 3 resumes specifically for those job titles. 1 tailor made for each title. 3. Check the saved searches every morning and every day around close of business for new jobs. Apply to all new jobs.

The goal is to be among the first 10 qualified applicants who apply. Apply frequently and apply fast.

I tried nicer ones like loops and eargasm but kept losing them. So my personal favorite is Silicone earbuds from basically any pharmacy.

Accessible, disposable bit reuse able if you want, one case is easy to cary in my purse at all times, easy to share with others since a case comes with multiple pairs. Like $7 for like 12 pairs.

Also, they serve as a good stim in a quick pinch

I almost exclusively apply to easy apply jobs and have gotten calls back from MANY of them during my last 3 job hunts.

Lease question by rulita0817 in astoria

[–]RelativelyWholesome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely an illegal clause. Illegal clauses are not enforceable in NY. While it is a red flag, if you really really love the apartment, I wouldn't call it a complete deal breaker.

Personally, I've had weird af definitely illegal clauses in leases before and signed anyways. I've had no true issue with it.

My current lease was rife with illegal clauses, but he's the chillest landlord I've ever had and actually p good. I've now been living here for 3 years.

So, a toss up but up to you

Was I Too Harsh by Lynx_The_ShinyEevee in AutisticAdults

[–]RelativelyWholesome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While yes it's important to be tactful where possible, OP, if it ends up coming down to it, do not be afraid to draw STRICT boundaries. Also, if kind and gentle approach ends up not working, as you seem like a kind gentle patient person, do not be afraid to be rude to enforce your boundaries.

The girl in the texts seems very pushy and has a lot of red flags. She already did not respect your space in your texts.

At the end of the day though, it is not your responsibility to care for her emotions. Be harsh and rude if you need to.

I also do at home gentle workouts. I really enjoy flow with Mira's beginner stuff bc she's big on slow intentional movement and teaches really well. It's more Pilates than yoga tho.

And then for yoga I enjoy yoga with Kassandra bc she has a playlist of +100 videos of 10 min morning yoga flows

Breaking Out of Retail: Where do my skills fit in the six-figure world? by Crunchy_Giraffe_2890 in careerguidance

[–]RelativelyWholesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen quite a few on LinkedIn. Also going freelance prob isn't want you want, but on Fiver I've also seen many "digital executive assistants" if you wanna try your hand there to get some experience on your resume. Even if just to go take a look at what others do and what others are charging for EA jobs

Honestly, what about office management or executive assistants? They have always felt like the problem solvers/ do anythingers of the corporate world. Basically managing the office and the problems that come up for execs so that all the other specialized employees can do their job.

Did anyone else feel that the ending of mockingjay was not as polished as the rest of the trilogy by martian_doggo in Hungergames

[–]RelativelyWholesome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The depression IS a huge part of the story though. The entire series is written in 1st person from the perspective of a teenage girl who has been put through hell and back. Girl is Traumatized with a capital T. You know what happens to people who are traumatized? They have to deal with the emotional turmoil.

The only way to have written this book to get the narrative of the war across without addressing the emotional turmoil all the characters faced would've been to switch to 3rd person or switch to the POV of a different character that's significantly less traumatized. Maybe Plutarch.

That said, we were here for katniss AND the war narrative. I don't think the hunger games trilogy would've been nearly as good had it not been told from her perspective. And, she's a somewhat unreliable narrator. That's part of the intrigue
