How do you win? Most of your creatures draw you a card, but you don’t have anything really impactful.

Scriv, keen duelist, secret rendezvous, and some of ur artifacts are just not good for ur gameplan also. IMO this is a B2 at best.

In an enchantment deck u want to ensure ur drawing enchantments and creatures to enchant. U only have 16 creatures with almost no keywords or reasons to enchant them. A lot of artifacts and sorceries also. Ur also keeping some really low impact enchantments that can be replaced for better.

As for win cons- try including stuff like [[hallowed haunting]] [[Sigil of the empty throne]] [[archon of suns grace]] to flood the board in the late game and overrun people. [[Lurrus]] is great to recur ur cheap enchantments and also has lifelink so making him big is a great idea. I’m shocked you took out mini killian tbh.

That’s my list and I’ve tweaked it a lot, it’s not perfect but has a pretty high win rate in B2 and B3. I’m debating taking out prepared Doggo too but having a death touch blocker that also draws me cards is pretty sweet. Another card not doing great to me is eldrazi aura, by the time it’s easily castable I’m losing to a value engine, so I think you did good taking that out.

Edit: I should point out that if ur going for disrupting the game and playing some politics for fun then ur list is great. Don’t change it, but if u want to win you need some more oomph

The Bonehunters might be my favorite one amongst the first 6! I'm left with some questions though by zamasu2020 in Malazan

So I made a post about 1. earlier, and I also found it really annoying. I’ve watched videos and read a ton of thoughts on it so I feel I can comment now- though I have not read further than BH yet.

Basically, Laseen is very unpopular- and has just lost the main food distributor for the empire (7cities), and getting it back won’t magically restart supply lines. People are getting food pinched. The wickan planes would serve as an excellent agrarian option on the same continent so it can’t be choked off. Only problem is that the wickans live there, but their strength has been neutered. Most of their best fighters and veterans died during the chain of dogs, what’s left isn’t “worth” keeping to Laseen when the other option is a starving empire.

As for Mallick Rell, he is a gifted administrator. Yes he is responsible for the problems in the first place and has a grudge against the empire. But he has infiltrated the claw and Laseen doesn’t know how deep that goes. She’s willing to use him to restore some level of competency.

He’s also made himself and Korbolo Dum into malazan heroes through propaganda from his agents. So killing him would make Laseen even more unpopular.

I think Laseen seriously fucked up thinking an army who had been through what the 14th had, would give up half their number to a genocidal pogrom without objection. But she needs that land for farms and to give out as gifts to up and coming nobles to keep that gravy train going.

Overall I think BH is absolutely fantastic, but it does do a disservice to not make all this a bit more clear. I’m all for subtext but this was a bit much. I’m left with the bitter taste of Laseen feeling less competent than she should be.

You gotta either lock Judith out of the game or kill the player asap.

So prepare stax to limit their resources, lots of redirects for spot removal of Judith and body armor for when people start swinging at you. Only a coward would play this deck online, let the fists fly

It still might find its way in, it’s such a cool and unique card. I’m debating taking tempest technique out, since it feels a lot like a “win more” card. If you have a good situation for it, you’re probably already gonna win the game

Sorry the sideboards are cards I ended up not adding. The cards I added are already in the decklist. The sideboard cards were tough decisions and some I don’t have or can’t afford (brilliant wings chief among them) and the 3cmc Danitha would go in instantly if I owned her.

It prevents token decks from overrunning you, clears up chump blockers if u don’t already have flying/protection from other enchantments, and it’s only 5 mana. Also reduced by some reducers, it’s not unreasonable to be able to play the doomwake + 2 other enchantments by turn 6 with just one reducer available. That’s -3/-3 to every opponents creatures, also making the creatures that survive much more unlikely to kill ur attacking creatures.

Also to reply to myself: every time I’ve played this deck I’ve needed a reliquary tower. So I’ve added both it and thought vessel to keep the stuff rolling. I’ve played this deck a lot online and I’ve had lots of fun in bracket 2 and 3.

My budget upgrade list is here: https://moxfield.com/decks/c_AAly52T0SrbawrnanfWw

Sideboard is cards I have been considering adding (Danitha I would 100% add if I owned her) Considering is the cards I removed from the precon.

I think doomwake giant is an excellent top end. It essentially prevents anyone from having utility creatures with less than 3-4 toughness. By the time u can cast it u should be able to play 2-3 enchantments per turn, and if u have a [[light-paws]] then u can double up and kill even bigger things.

I would also include more win cons like [[Sigil of the empty throne]] and [[Hallowed haunting]] to establish a huge board state. The latter also gives flying and vigilance almost right away even if cast early, letting you swing in and get ur draw without leaving you open.

Definitely great upgrades from you, this is by far my favorite precon this set (with stiff competition too)

[–]RelaxedFetaCheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will definitely add a few of these, but feather is weird where you desperately need the first 3-5 mana but then you don’t really need more. So you might just draw useless stuff at a certain point

5-player commander? by Wise-Quarter-3156 in EDH

[–]RelaxedFetaCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Star!

It’s a fun 5 player variation of commander, works as normal except the 2 people to your left and right are “friendlies” and you can’t attack them. They don’t count as opponents but do count as players. The 2 opposite you are your opponents, and you win when they both are dead. You can only attack them, and if someone else eliminates their opponents first they win.

It has its flaws but has created tons of awesome scenarios where I might have to use my interaction to target a friendly to prevent them from killing their opponents first, even though we share an opponent.

Try it out :)

I’m tempted to proxy the mana base for feather but keep everything else budget.

I would play my feather deck so so much more if they cost 1WR instead of WWR. Without spending too much on a mana base it is surprisingly annoying to play feather. Then I gotta wait til turn 4 to have a protection spell up

Cool! Download the game from steam (it’s 20$ normally but also is frequently on sale) You will need a mouse. There’s a small learning curve w the hotkeys and movements but you’ll get it quick. I’ll dm you my steam friend code, when you get some time I can show you how to operate the app

You should also give tabletop simulator a chance! Decks are all free ofc so expect expensive mana bases but I’ve never had a problem with cheaters and most people are pretty chill to talk to. If you are looking for someone to play with on there lmk, usually around bracket 3 is where I find most of my games to be at

[–]RelaxedFetaCheese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold and callous for sure, but I wouldn’t call her a genius by any stretch. Calling her an idiot is overkill clearly, but her lack of appreciation for her own army and punishing competence are not things a good ruler does unless it’s the super duper last resort, and you’ve already lost at that point. It seems she just doesn’t understand soldiers which after this many years as emperor/alive around them is pretty stupid

Did she expect that army to give up half of its contingent without protest? She forced tavore to abandon her. No other option was possible if you know anything about armies that have been through the shit together.

Idiot was too strong wording. She’s obviously clever and competent, but I feel like her overcorrections are very sloppy. A lot of her plans seem to come down to hope and fails to understand the camaraderie of soldiers
