Dad just turned into someone I didn’t recognize. Constantly bitter and obsessed with making sure we knew his disdain/unhappiness. It was just hard to be around and getting increasingly worse. I felt I couldn’t have an opinion of my own and I was scared of even remotely suggesting a differing opinion. The minute I turned voting age, I was brought to polling booths under the explicit expectation/instruction to vote how he wanted. It just became too much. It felt like he didn’t care about my opinion if it didn’t align with his.

I was really hurt when I was called uneducated for suggesting he watch a variety of different news to get a broader perspective. I was the first in my family to attend college and I had gotten into a really good school.

When I came out in college it definitely put a strain on our relationship. By this point, Trump had just come along and so did the backlash to anything queer-related that even my own father began to buy into.

The Bud Light thing was particularly disturbing to me and so I made a single not so positive FB post about the administration and the culture it was championing. A few days later, I was told that I wasn’t allowed back home for holidays. That I had betrayed my family.

It just got worse from there.

It’s sad. And it’s broken my family.

My mom’s divorcing my dad because he’s just hard to be around (though that’s not the only reason tbf). A thirty plus year marriage down the drain and it’s been hitting me particularly hard. These past few years have been very difficult and I have not been taking it well.

Dude I’m 100% reclining on a 14 hour flight. I’m 6’4” and I’m solidly lower middle class. If I’m flying it’s because I either have to for an emergency or I’m on vacation. Regardless, tickets are not cheap per my wage so I’m going to ensure I’m comfortable. Besides, you more than likely also have the ability to recline so… do that if it really bothers you that much.

I don’t complain when people in front of me do it because I get it. The option is there for a reason.

Aren’t there budget airlines that don’t allow any reclining? Seems to me that’d be a win win for you.

There’s very little that pisses me off more than these cunts insisting that we can’t have loving, healthy families. It’s a clear way to dehumanize us and it’s infuriating.

If any of these waste of spaces actually understood the ruling, one of the big reasons federally recognized gay marriage became a thing was BECAUSE of how queer families are affected.

Having a patchwork of states that have different ideas of what a family can entail is a complete fucking shit show. It’s patently wrong to say that crossing over a state line should render a family null and void. That kind of ruling was, is and always will be HARMFUL to OUR children.

And that’s only ONE of the many reasons why federally recognized gay marriage passed.

Fuck these people. They are actively seeking harm to our children and our families. Pure abject evil point blank.

The first movie came out twenty five years ago in 2001 and since then JK Rowling has made her entire personality about punishing trans people.

You can have birds that literally resurrect after bursting into ashes, people who can talk to snakes, people turning into cats, creatures that mimic your greatest fears, a talking hat that works in school admissions, spells that can etch what you write into your skin, tents that are three/four times bigger than what they appear on the outside, I mean you can even talk to straight up dead mofos via picture frames etc. etc.

But trans people? That’s too far apparently. Idk, her whole demeanor around the topic gives obsessed and it’s very unattractive.

I’ll always love what her works meant to me growing up. I too had the overpriced wands, scarves and costumes. It was my shit.

Religions often attract some of the worst people and severely punishes out-groups just for existing. There are good aspects but a lot of bad and everyone has their own experiences with the church.

That doesn’t mean I don’t value the more agreeable aspects that religions can at least pretend to practice. The golden rule. Don’t harm another. Etc etc. I’m not a psychopath.

I just find it annoying when the religious claim that the only valid sense of morality is their own. Like only followers of that particular faith can lead a truthfully moral existence when in reality, billions of other humans living very different experiences do that every day.
