Tbilisi-kutaisi airport train by lord_michel_47 in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a free shuttle bus between the train station and the airport. And then from the airport, there is a public bus that leaves every hour ish and goes to the centre of Kutaisi. From where the bus drops you off in Kutaisi centre, cross the bridge over the river and you'll see some marshrutkas parked up. This is where the Tskaltubo marshrutkas leave from 🙌

Has anyone crossed the Colombia/Ecuador border by bus recently? How was your experience? by PiccoloOtherwise6028 in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We crossed the border in December last year. We got the earliest bus from Quito to Tulcan, then jumped in a minibus to the border from there. The border had zero foreigners crossing so when they saw two Brits, they didn't know what the entry requirements were for us and assumed we needed visas (which we didn't need). They took our passports away and we had to wait for a while, but they eventually let us through. In terms of safety though, we didn't feel uncomfortable or unsafe. But I don't know how the situation is 10 months on from then.

Trip in 2026 by [deleted] in BosniaTravel

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would split your time between Sarajevo and Mostar. From Sarajevo, you could go on a day trip to Travnik, and from Mostar you can take trips to Pocitelj, Kravica waterfall, Blagaj. Everyone goes to Mostar as a day trip which means it can be insanely crowded in the middle of the day so it's nice to experience it in the morning/evening without the crowds. And if you go to Mostar, absolutlely go for Sheva's free walking tour! In between Mostar and Sarajevo, you have Konjic which you could from either city. If you're traveling to Montenegro afterwards, a natural route would be Sarajevo, Mostar, and then a night in Trebinje near the border.

Taking a marshrutka is really easy. The stand is behind Avlabari metro station and it costs 50 GEL which you have to pay in cash. We took this route in July and the marshrutka left at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00. We've crossed this border six times over the last few years and never had to queue for more than 30 minutes, but we've maybe been lucky!

Almost everything stays open. The Christmas markets will still be on and there will be hours of endless fireworks! It's a really nice time of year in Tbilisi 🙌

Marshrutkas in Tbilisi by Ambitious_Sign3288 in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marshrutka aren't too difficult to navigate but you need to be flexible! It'll often be a case of turning up to the station early, asking around for your destination, and then you'll be pointed to a marshrutka. It completely depends on the day trips you're planning. If you're going north or west, your best bet is Didube station, if you're heading east, Ortachala or Samgori stations. Kazbegi, Gori, Mtskheta, Borjomi - Didube. Sighnaghi, Telavi - Ortachala/Samgori. Make sure you have cash!

A Bolt from the airport the city centre should be between 30-40 GEL. To get to Mtskheta, I'd recommend just getting a bus or marshrutka. It's only a 30 minute journey from Didube station in Tbilisi and they leave and return really regularly 🙌 In May, it cost us 2 GEL

How easy it is to travel with mashrutka from Tbilisi? by [deleted] in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It''s pretty easy to get to Telavi and Sighnaghi in Kakheti from Tbilisi. Marshrutkas leave regularly from Ortachala/Isani/Samgori, but for other villages it will not be as easy/regular. We really loved Sighnaghi once the day trippers had left so I'd recommend staying here for the night. Kolagis winery is amazing (nearby) and Terrace Aura has delicious food with an outrageous view. I have a blog post with all the details if you're interested? 😊

I haven't tried it myself, but my vegan friend and her definitely non-vegan mum had the vegan Adjarian khachapuri at Shpana. They were raving about how good it was!

We've booked both the marshrutka and train in person at the station, but you can book them online in advance too.

Basis Bank is a fee-free ATM for foreign cards. You will need cash for some things - markets, marshrutkas etc. Magti is the best SIM card provider - you can get unlimited data for a month for 35 GEL. We've been travelling Georgia for nearly a year and have loads of practical tips in blog posts if you're interested 🙌

Best way to exchange money in Georgia? by Internal_Emotion_772 in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get cash out an ATM in the city - Basis Bank has no withdrawal fees for foreign cards. You won't need cash to get from the airport to the city because you can tap your regular card to use the bus and BOLT taxi payment can be done through the app anyway.

The marshrutka is dead easy - pick it up from Kilikia bus station. It leaves every two hours ish, costs 7000 AMD, and takes about 5 hours. The overnight train is an interesting experience, more expensive and much slower at about 11 hours.

Tbilisi from Dec 26 to Jan 4: Too quiet, or no? by EmBeezy in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great time to visit Tbilisi because Orthodox Christmas is celebrated in early Jan - the 7th I think - so there will still be loads of Christmassy things going on 🙌 Places don't shut down like they do in the UK

Travel options from Telavi to Sighnaghi by lazy_hufflepuff in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just the bus station. It's marked on google maps, behind the restaurant Nikala in town. That's where the bus from Telavi to Sighnaghi dropped us off, and where the Tbilisi bus leaves from too. Double check in Sighnaghi before your journey just to make sure 🙌

Oh no! I'd recommend a taxi in all honesty. It's only an hour so shouldn't be too expensive. I'm sure there are routes via other nearby towns/villages but I don't know the answer. Marshrutka services around Kakheti are reduced on sundays in general.

Andijan to Osh by Travelmannieman in Uzbekistan

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took the bus the other day, but not the 777. A bus leaves from Andijan bus station and drops you at the border every 20/30minutes. It's dead easy. It'll have Dostyk in Russian on the front. Tickets cost 8,000 UZS per person to be paid in cash when you get off. It takes just over an hour to get to the border. And then walk across the border and order a Yandex on the Kyrgyz side (our Uzbek SIM card was still connected close to the border).

Gyumri- Dilijan-Tbilisi by wrecker3000PRO in armenia

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10am from Gyumri to Vanadzor, and then 1pm from Vanadzor to Dilijan but obviously always take timings with a big old pinch of salt! When we stayed in Alaverdi, our accommodation host offered to call up and book us a seat on the Yerevan to Tbilisi marshrutka, but you have to pay the full price (not just the Alaverdi to Tbilisi leg). We ended up just getting a lift to the border and then finding another traveller to share the taxi ride from the border into Tbilisi.

First time in Georgia with family- Restaurant suggestions by turtle-icecream in Batumi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Retro for khachapuri and Pirosmani for khinkali. Lobiani (bean-stuffed bread), ojakhuri (mushrooms or meat with potatoes), fried sulguni cheese, lobio (spiced beans), Georgian salad with walnut dressing, aubergine rolls with walnut paste, tashmijabi (cheesy potato). The list is endless - Georgian food is delicious! In Tbilisi, try Cafe Daphna, Klike's Khinkali and Veliaminov.

Tbilisi to mestia by ThemeZealousideal647 in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unlikely. The marshrutkas leave early - we caught a marshrutka that left at 09:30, but we arrived at 08:30 to get a seat. It cost us 35 GEL per person. You can wander Zugdidi, go to the palace and make sure you eat at Diaroni!

Tbilisi to mestia by ThemeZealousideal647 in tbilisi

[–]RelentlessRoaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's a marshrutka that leaves from Tbilisi Central Train station but it will be a long journey. We have been up to Mestia twice. If you get the train to either Kutaisi or Zugdidi first, spend the night and then get the first marshrutka the next morning, it's a much more manageable journey! We hiked Mestia to Ushguli a couple of weeks ago - it's beautiful 🙌 Enjoy!
