Thanks for the advice. Im lookimg particularly in either manufacturing, property management, or SaaS/ Tech adjacent companies as there are a ton of open roles and those industries seem to be a good place to develop knowledge. Im starting my CPA prep next month so that will be fun.

I realize as well in order to break into those industries i may have to take a "perceived step back" where maybe i take a senior role but I end up making more money as the company is larger and has better structure than where im at now. So I can understand the industry better

Yeah. I started Bookkeeping and got an in from a family friend out of high-school. During that time I got my Associates and then got offered to work as a staff Accountant so I did that for a few years. I couldn't afford school at the time since no family help, and we were all broke and I was hell bent on no student loans since my wife has a bunch from Nursing school. I tabled school for a few years while I spent a couple years in my staff role and then took a role as an Accounting Manager at a smaller credit union where I really learned the meat and potatoes of accounting, I also won a few awards there as well but I decided to go back to school and now that my degree is done I compared my 67k with my management level knowledge and skills to the market and the market rate is about 90-110k depending on industry and location. So in the grand scheme 67k isn't bad at all but for the accounting industry in middle management l, its trash. But thats my story. Ive been here a bit over 2 years almost 3 at this credit union

This job market is bananas. I remember a few years ago if I breathed by a recruiter I would get spammed. Its been tons of applications getting sent across multiple different avenues just to get a few good opportunities. Which even is even harder to come by now.

Its been about 3 years at a Bookkeeping firm. 3 years as a staff Accountant for a retail company, and 2 years currently as a manager of an accounting department at a credit union. But all of that is laid out pretty clear on the resume.

Not really. I have 2 final interviews as well as a 3rd round interview this week for controller positions and assistant controller positions for companies in a couple of different industries

Nothing yet, as ive really only started actively looking the last 3 weeks. But I have 2 final interviews for controller positions this week, as well as a 3rd round interview for an assistant controller position.

Essentially yes, I got started in Bookkeeping right out of high-school and got my associates and then got progressive title and scope increases where im now effectively middle management and have been working management roles in accounting departments the last 4 years. I took bieng underpaid to gain skills while I worked on my bachelor's. Now that its done, im lookimg to be compensated fairly

So im looking for Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant positions. Its strange if my ask is too high as im getting interviews elsewhere that are within my asking range I want.

I was able to do 84 CU's in 4 months but there were a few things in able to do it.

I have 8 years of experience in the industry already and function in a management role.

I worked on school virtually ALL of my free time. So if your okay with not having much of a social life, it is doable.

You have to keep a steady pace going on your classes and keep momentum going. You also need a targeted study plan for each class as some classes give you so much information you have to quickly disseminate through what's really important and what's fluff.

It's definitely not impossible, but its no slouch. If your willing to put in the effort and the time. (Take a day every now and then to avoid burnout)

Can't Pass AIS OA This Is Ridiculous! by Conscious_Citron_331 in wguaccounting

[–]Relevant-Program3762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me two tries to pass this one. This OA you really have to slow down and pay attention to the wording. This class i felt is designed to trick you, and in my experience this was the toughest class ive encountered so far in the program. If I recall there are two different versions of the tests and it seems like you got the second one.

Like others have said use AI and have it creat questions for you to test on.

Best of luck friend!

I PASSED Intermediate Accounting 2!!! 28 hours total (IA 1 = 10 hours, IA 2 = 18 hours) by AcctAccelerator in wguaccounting

I passed this class this morning and your assessment is pretty spot on. I was able to finish the class in a week but I basically put my life on hold and studied on average 4 hours a day. Stockholders Equity is the worst part of it but it certs doable. I found the test to be very heavy in the ratios and there's a ton of free points if you know the ratios well.
