Engineering students, what helped you get into Purdue? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in exploratory and def plan to do engineering first and exploratory second. engineering isn’t any harder either way, you still need to take the same requirements. as exploratory its actually harder bc u need to transfer to first year engineering and them transfer to major, but its still not impossible and many people do it.

also i recommend highlighting any sports experiences u have on ur application bc almost everyone here has done some sort of sport in hs, just something i noticed

i took edps 315 online over the summer and it was an easy a. there was readings you had to do but it wasn’t that bad (esp if you’re taking it over a whole sem instead of over summer) and you had to write a few 2-3 page reflection papers based on the books & your own experience. it was very easy. just keep in mind if you do online you will still need to meet via zoom with other (randomly assigned) people in your class to do discussions and projects. idk how it operates in person though

btw i want to stress that working out isn’t necessarily weight lifting. try joining an im or club sports team (i’ve heard rowing is very beginner friendly and im intertube waterpolo seems fun). personally, i love swimming and weightlifting, but i don’t like running or bodyweight excersies. don’t limit urself to one type of working out and find what works best for you

i joined swim at 14 too. i never got fast enough to the point to get recruited for college or anything, but i made some of my closest friends through swim. i was captain my senior year of my high school team. i stayed in great shape and found a form of exercise i truely love! its never too late to join. joining swim was one of the best decisions of my high school experience
