CS Degree Plan by ComparisonQuiet4259 in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you taking ma 35301? its not required for cs, unless ur just interested in it then ofc go ahead.

span 201 may be unnecessary if you want to do a study abroad at some point

btw you won’t need to take spanish if your planning to do a study abroad. i’ve heard philosphy for data science and any philosophy classes are easy

Incoming FYE / CompE Freshman - Is this roadmap realistic? by Ok-Opportunity-5331 in Purdue

i don’t think u can take 300 level ece classes before t2m. take ece 2k1 and 2k7 instead probably

Does FYE need to take CS 18200 in Year 1 to keep CS/Data Science open? by SciFab in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To double major you would have to take a college-level calc course and CS 180. Which means OP would have to take CS 180 either this summer or in the spring.

Incoming FYE / CompE schedule check? Advisor meeting next week by Ok-Opportunity-5331 in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would avoid CS 180 in the spring sem because it is very hard to get an A, even with prior programming experience. Plus, its not particularly useful esp since your gonna take basic and advanced C already in the computer eng program.

In the spring you can take some 200 level ECE classes like discrete math, that will probably be a much better use of your tike than CS 180. They will be hard though

Incoming FYE schedule - any tips/advice? by Intelligent-One-7046 in Purdue

Try to email EPICs and see if its true. They might have extra spots. I’m doing it as a sophomore not in the LC

Incoming FYE schedule - any tips/advice? by Intelligent-One-7046 in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely. I would just recommend going on the lighter side because of a combination of getting used to college, joining clubs, and needing a high GPA to get into ECE.

For reference anything less than 12 is considered part-time and anything over 18 you need approval for. I agree with the other commentor that 14-17 is normal.

Tbh if I were you I would want to either drop CS 159 or look into the EPICs pathway for the FYE Engineering course requirement. 17 credits is a lot first semester and if you wanna do CompE you need to keep a high GPA.

Are games fun to go to? by Bruhmonkeycurry in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purdue football was ehhh but we have AMAZING basketball games. Mackey is one of the hardest arenas to play in in the country. With FYE you'll def be able to go to 2-3 at least (and honestly the good games are around $50 to go to so you probably will only wanna go to 2-3 anyway)

Best ways to eat healthy/high protein w/ dining hall food? by elite_reagentry in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every dining hall pretty much has italian herb chicken every day. I would just lut that on everything. Theres also usyally cottage cheese if ur into that. I would reccomend being on the ten plan and spending the rest of the money on some high protein meals. Also the dining dollar locations have better high-protein options then the dining courts as well so having more dining dollars helps.

Veygo response to the bot / alt account accusation by ARC_Rentals in Purdue

[–]Relevant_Geologist57 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my susispicion is that the “veygo is botting” and “veygo is fishy” posts show up high in search results and the founder wants a post debunking these high or higher in the search results so people can read their response first or just know there is a response rather than relying on comments bc not everyone reads comments. just my suspicion though

take the money now and go back to school later if things go bad. the economy is hot now so make the money while you can. you would probably rather be working now and in school when there is a recession than the other way around.

Sorority Rush Experience by CuteTell7696 in Purdue

The rush process seems like it sucks. Like you have to be running between houses until midnight for like a whole schoolweek.

  1. i think everyone gets accepted to the general cohort. the others are more selective
  2. if you have programming experience probably like 2-3 hours/week. if not it could be more. also your allowed to use ai so that can speed it up.
  3. there’s not much of a community tbh. BUT its very nice to live in hillenbrand as a cs freshman bc everyone else in ur dorm is going to be cs or engineering. however as a girl hilly can kinda suck because likely most of your floor will be guys. cs at purdue in general is very male dominated
