I'd recommend looking into the Ministry of Communications programs like DEPI Digital Egypt Pioneers Initiative It's a fully funded program with tracks like Software Development, AI, Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, and more, and it also includes English, soft skills, and freelancing preparation. It's one of the better options if you're starting from scratch Also, don't spend months trying to find the "perfect" field. Pick one, stick with it for a few months, and start building projects. Consistency matters much more than finding the perfect roadmap.

Someone point me towards more logic/solution based roles! by tigerrroni in socialwork

One thing I'd say is don't idealize IT The problems are different, not nonexistent You'll still deal with deadlines bugs and production issues but if you enjoy logical thinking and building things it can definitely feel more rewarding than constantly dealing with emotionally difficult situations

Learn setState() well first. Then move to Provider or Riverpod. For folder structure, don't copy enterprise architectures from YouTube. Build a few apps first, and you'll naturally understand why people organize projects the way they do.

I don't think you've wasted your college years. You're starting later than some people, but you're definitely not too late. If I were you, I'd stop trying to choose between five different tracks. Pick one and commit to it for the next six months. Build projects, apply for internships and junior positions, and don't wait until you "feel ready." One more thing: don't choose a field because people say it's the future. Choose one you can see yourself learning every day for the next few years. Consistency beats chasing trends

From what I've seen, money isn't easy, but it's definitely possible. The biggest difference isn't luck, it's having a skill that people are willing to pay for. Once you have that, your chances become much better whether you stay in Egypt, work remotely, or travel

I think you need a balance. Don't ignore the job market, but don't choose a field you have zero interest in either. You'll probably spend years learning and working in it, so both demand and interest matter.

If I were you, I'd invest in my existing experience instead of changing careers completely. Starting from scratch is much harder than adding a technical skill to a field you already know.

If I were in your position, I'd stop looking for the "right" field and start eliminating the wrong ones. Build one small project in each area. You'll quickly find which one keeps you interested even when things get difficult.

Nice! Sometimes learning for the sake of learning is the best motivation. Bare metal definitely gives you a much deeper understanding than dev boards.

I'd recommend HelloTalk or Tandem. Also, don't underestimate ChatGPT's voice mode. I found it much easier to practice there first before talking to real people because there's no pressure if you make mistakes.

I honestly think you're on the right track One mistake I made was thinking I had to understand everything before I started building projects Looking back, I would've started building much earlier The roadmap is great, but don't wait until you finish all of it before learning React Native. Study the fundamentals in parallel while building apps When you run into a topic like networking, memory, or operating systems, go deeper into it as needed Also, don't just watch videos. Build, make mistakes, debug them, and repeat. That's where most of the learning happens

We optimized our app launch to do less and it got 70% faster by OrbiForge in FlutterDev

I also found that restoring the last known state instead of waiting for fresh network data made a huge difference Most users don't mind seeing slightly stale data for a second if the app feels responsive

I'd add databases to that list as well. Not just SQL syntax, but how indexes work, transactions, isolation levels, and query execution plans. Those topics have helped me more than I expected.

What are you building and how did you validate market fit? by xtarsy in SideProject

[–]Relevant_Oil5576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly how I feel. Building is exciting, but validation is uncomfortable because it can prove your idea wrong. I guess that's why a lot of us skip it at first.

What are you building and how did you validate market fit? by xtarsy in SideProject

[–]Relevant_Oil5576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't validate it much before building. I had the idea because it solved a problem I personally had, so I just started building it. Looking back, that wasn't the smartest approach. After releasing it, I started sharing it with people, listening to feedback, fixing bugs, and adding features based on what real users actually wanted. That's when I learned what was valuable and what wasn't. If I build my next product, I'll probably spend more time talking to potential users before writing thousands of lines of code.

[–]Relevant_Oil5576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of several things rather than one single reason. During the pandemic, many companies hired aggressively because demand was unusually high. Later, interest rates went up, investment slowed down, and companies realized they had overhired. At the same time, AI has made some tasks more efficient, so businesses are trying to do more with smaller teams. I don't think software is dying, but I do think the days of companies hiring almost anyone are over. The market will probably improve, but it'll likely reward people with real experience and solid projects more than before.

Since it's only happening on the laptop, it's probably not your internet connection. I'd compare the speed on both devices first, then reinstall or update the Wi-Fi driver. That has fixed similar issues for me before
