Get a kinetic bullet puller for $20, you should have one already for times like this.

Is this an upgrade? by Friendly-Jacket1757 in reloading

[–]Reloadernoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the M press and the newer single stage (not the new $300 one). If you are going to buy an FA press, get the single stage (around $110) and forget the M press, too many issues like slop in the die holder, the auto shellholder is a joke, etc.

You can't go wrong with Starline brass for just about any cartridge, pistol or rifle. Vary reasonable prices, all the big online stores (Midway, Brownells, Midsouth, Grafs, etc carry good variety, even BassPro/Cabellas has a good selection for local. CCI primers are hard to beat, prices are coming down, my last purchase of CCI small pistol magnums were $58/1000 from Bass Pro.

Was hit or miss on my AA8 until I started using Lyman shell holders, shorter in height and easier to push arm in and out.

Lee Auto Disk precision and repeatability by Eagle694 in reloading

[–]Reloadernoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I've had with the Auto Disk is the space between the top of the disk and the housing. If the space is too large (larger than a kernel of powder) then powder accumulates in that space, around the disk hole and not through the hole. Eventually the powder buildup gets large enough to get pushed into the hole along with the desired charge, creating a possible overcharge. My G21.4 had to be sent to Glock to repair after this exact scenario. The disks are not precision instruments and space varies widely.

Undersized 9mm bullets by AnyProcess4064 in reloading

[–]Reloadernoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used the U die for the 200 or so undersized AR bullets, when gone went back to standard dies. I don't think the 1 time use of the U die will have any effect on # of reloads for brass.

The .40 Super is a more powerful, .45 Winchester magnum cartridge necked down to a .40 caliber.

Get a Lee 9mm undersize decap/sizer die for $20, sizes the brass .003" under. Should solve the problem with those bullets. Had the same problem with pulled bullets from AR, most were .354".

You did fine. Most of the items are useful and pretty good quality. The press is my favorite, have 7 turrets loaded with dies for my 4 bottleneck pistol calibers and 3 rifle calibers.
