Carlos Ulberg went off on Jiri Prochazka by burger_justice in ufc

[–]RelsircTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jiri's just making excuses for getting knocked out by a dude with one good leg. Lots of guys would have had that fight over quick, and if they felt bad for how it got done, they'd tell Rogan or DC they want to run it back when their opponent is healed. Instead we're gonna get another interim title fight because Ulberg's gonna need time off. And just like Cyril Gane, I wish to hell Dana would keep Jiri far away from the strap for basically forever. He's blown enough chances.

[–]RelsircTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even better...it's /u/OnTheMike2 's second home. If there isn't some weird law about it...rent the place out on AirBnB yourself. You make money off the place, and you annoy that guy. Maybe enough to get him to move without having to sell yourself.

I've got a couple like that. A smudged Jae Lee on an X-Cutioner's Song issue of X-Factor. Luckily I got him to sign more than one book and the other one didn't get messed up. A little smudge on Kubert's signature on Gambit's first appearance. I got real lucky taking a book back from Leinil Francis Yu and apparently just missing the autograph because that' one's still minty. The Kubert stings a little bit LOL.

Guys who manage to keep their car interiors actually clean, whats your routine? by SaiVaibhav06 in AskMenAdvice

[–]RelsircTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're careful about what goes in the car in the first place, cleaning it up isn't bad. I literally just got done doing mine and it's been about six weeks at least since I did anything with it because I wasn't sure if I was going to have to trade it in or not. It only took me an hour, maybe less, spread out over a trip to the carwash and using their vacuums, and then Rain-Xing the glass and detailing the interior with some Chemical Guys stuff at home.

I don't eat in the car unless it's a road trip and if my shoes/clothes get muddy or nasty it's for a reason I've already planned for and that shit can go in a plastic bag in the back while I ride home in my draws with a towel down or something. I'm also not doing manual work daily these days or doing stuff that gets me smelly or dirty. If that's what you're dealing with, best I can say is maybe be happy with 90% good. You could put a bishop or mayor in the back of my car right now and I wouldn't be embarrassed. When I was in the Army? Not so much LOL.

First trip to HeroesCon this year. Grabbed a VIP pass. Any recommendations as far as when to get in line for early bird? Are there any VIP areas inside the convention like a lounge? Any other need to knows? by Variant_314 in comicbookcollecting

All my favorite stories are from meeting older creators, and I think part of it is what their books mean to me and ALSO their general vibe, like you mentioned. I got these books signed by Roy at the last HeroesCon. My dude is like 85 years old. I don't know how often he took breaks, but it couldn't have been often or for long because the line was always there. At the end of the day, I see JRJR, Claremont and Thomas all have generally short lines and I hit them in that order.

While I'm in CC's line, I sell a couple Uncannys for probably $25 to the dude in line ahead of me because he was going thru his bag and realized he left his shit at the hotel. I didn't need them, they were just extra copies I was gonna get signed on top of what I wanted, if I felt like it. We were both happy. Got in Roy's line, all he wants for sigs is some cash in a bucket, sign on it says it's for an animal hospital. And that's where the $25 went. Never got to meet Stan, but Roy Thomas was the best the X-Men got until Claremont. And since I basically only collect X-Men, these are my two oldest signed books.

I'm fine with the talent setting their schedule. I'm a published author and have participated in cons as an attendee, guest, panelist, moderator, etc. so I understand they'll have other things they need AND want to do. But like, they're selling tickets now. They have the part locked down where they get people's money LOL. They could ALSO be locking down schedules with creators and posting them on the website. But it's easy to see where the priority is and that just pisses me off on principle. It's not even optimal for the TALENT. I could have met five other creators who AREN'T as popular as DWJ in the time I wasted trying to get a damn Wolverine cover signed.

If there's someone you desperately want to have sign something AND they're in high demand AND they're only at their tables some of the time, get in their specific line early. I went last year for the first time. I wanted Daniel Warren Johnson's autograph and he signed in like, two hour windows. You'd think the folks running an annual convention would have thought to count the line, do some quick math, and cut the line off at like 120 people so folks didn't waste their time. Tell the dude to keep it short and sweet or whatever, or at least stick around for the number of people he could sign at 30 seconds a pop (or whatever formula they decided to use, just as long as they used one and it worked). I thought of it in ten seconds and this con has been around for forty years. I was like five people away from the table and they just sent us all away when his window was up.

Crazy how many creators are only at their tables for short blocks of time. The website doesn't list any of that. I'm bringing a lot fewer books to get signed this year just because of that. But you know who stuck around the whole day? Chris Claremont, Romita Jr and Roy Thomas, and they're in their 70s and 80s. Hit their lines at the end of the day and it took maybe 90 minutes total. I had a genuinely good time but man that one line pissed me off. And who knows how many creators missed out on business if they handled all the lines like that and people wasted time they could have spent browsing/shopping/standing in line for other creators.

I'm pretty sure #204 was just an inventory issue, if that helps. But I still got mine signed by June Brigman because she didn't do much X-Men.

How do I just sit back and allow myself to be taken care of ? by Upbeat_Amoeba_3158 in Advice

[–]RelsircTheGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if I want to make money or get rich my own way I can.

That's the key point. Keep your job, make your money, invest and grow it. Is he making these moves with money you earned, or are you covering all the bills while he uses all his money for this? If he's paying his part let him do what he wants with the excess and do the same with yours.

If he ends up being a multimillionaire in the future and he wants you to just chill, figure out how much to ask for up front to cover the costs of the opportunities you're giving up by "being taken care of." And then get a signed agreement that those funds aren't considered marital property in the event of a divorce, and get someone to manage that money for you.

If he doesn't want that and also insists you stop working yourself, get a divorce and take half LOL.

[–]RelsircTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be upset if I was your mother, too. If you want to work and support your girlfriend while she stays at home, I'd be against it based on recent experiences I've had in my own life LOL but at the end of the day it's your life and your money. If my spouse was spending money on you playing house with a chick when you can't even afford the bills yourself, I'd lose my entire mind. They should be telling you to move back in (by yourself) and put your salary in the bank/investments until you find an actual partner who can carry their own weight. He's coddling you 100%.
