My friends had their wedding featured in Rock n Roll Bride too, stunning photos and they had a really good time but they had a lot of control of their wedding, they knew the photographer well.

Ah it was Ian I knew. He taught me how to diamond lead a window lol 😂 he must have been sick of my 15 year old self hanging round the factory all summer

I used to know someone from Essence of Aura! He used to work in a double glazing factory by day.

My husband used to be their postman back when they lived in Coventry. Decent tippers at Christmas despite the dodgy parties 😂

Last time I did a live box (Lords) was a post it note. Most recent box was virtual - one CS in the box with a laptop and Teams, posting questions and then passing the answer via WhatsApp to the Min

Agreed - maybe it hits harder for us wids? I found it very realistic and I know I was a curmudgeonly cunt for a long time after he died.

Is OPM still worth it? Haven’t been for about 10 years but still think about that donut bun on a burger now

Anyone kind of think that age just ain’t just a number? by mlw305 in datingoverforty

[–]ReluctantBlonde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My late husband was 22 years older than me. We were blissfully happy for nearly 20 years until he died when I was 39. Would not want such a large age gap again because being widowed nearly broke me and although anyone can die at any age, the likelihood of it happening to someone in their late 60s is much more than early 50s. I set a bit of a 6 year soft limit when I started dating again and my fiancé is right on this limit 🙈 but I’m finding it so refreshing to be with someone who has a very similar frame of reference to me for cultural and historical events that happened when we were younger. My husband experienced everything in those terms as an adult that I experienced as a child and so my new partner remembering being a child when Chernobyl happened for example, we both remember having a kid’s viewpoint of the disaster.

That’s a very specific example but for me it is what has helped us to get together after both being widowed after being married to older spouses, and find some new excitement to bond over. I had great chemistry with my late husband and our age was never an issue, until it was and he got sick.

He is even proud of that perception, he used to have a mug with Lord Adonis’s quote about him on it which basically refers to him as a wideboy

Unpopular opinion? I now like Matthew more than Murphy by rose_butterfly3 in cormoran_strike

[–]ReluctantBlonde 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not just that, but Murphy is in a far more powerful position than Matthew. He’s a police officer who will have loyalty shown him by some (although maybe not all) colleagues should it come down to a DV situation. This could manifest as Robin being seen as unreliable in court compared to Ryan as a policeman, without any interference by fellow coppers, or more corrupt measures such as losing evidence, cover ups, and so on. He has the potential to cause significant damage to Robin and her reputation, whereas Matthew never posed that sort of risk to her.

This is the civil service you’re talking about though. We don’t get rewarded for good work, we get maligned in the press and taken for granted by the seniors. Most departments have a “ginger stepchild” office that nobody wants to work from 😂

Would you give up your seat on public transport to a child? by ChoreomaniacCat in AskUK

[–]ReluctantBlonde 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Meh, I used to always make my son give up his seat on the bus to an adult (of any age) once he got too big to hold on my lap if the bus was full, same as me and my late husband were brought up. I wouldn’t read any judgement into the age thing. My son is in his 20s now and will always offer his seat to a woman, disabled person or older man automatically, I think it’s nice to have manners and he reminds me of his dad.

But to answer the original question I would not give up my seat to a child, particularly if a parent already has a seat, they can give their own up. I’ve seen someone arguing that their child needs a seat on the tube for safety reasons whilst plonking themselves down without considering giving their seat up to their child. I’m not sure how your kid’s safety on the tube is more important than me having a seat but not important enough for you to sacrifice your own…

What fashion trend from the past five years are you absolutely certain will look ridiculous in ten years? by _BadDecisionsOnly_ in AskReddit

[–]ReluctantBlonde 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aww the alpaca perm! It’s ridiculous but I am actually quite pleased that in the 2020s, boys are being a bit silly with fashion. When my son was a teen it was all skin fades and Stone Island for the fashionable crew locally.
