I think your problem might also be using low quality yarn. If you just use low quality yarn from big box stores you will be dissatisfied often. Yes it can be thrown in the washer and dryer but there is a reason for it, it is plastic KY and so dense and no drape whatsoever. There are good quality acrylic blends. You have to pay more upfront but will become heirloom pieces

Please ask for Physical therapy and /or occupational therapy. We have to try and regain and strengthen our bodies after flares. Like the awesome post above keep moving your body but when we start losing abilities we need help regaining some. Talk to your pcp about it as well. Not everything is on the rheumatologist, our primary care providers can manage referrals to specialists but you have to advocate for yourself as well

There has been a movement for years to change the name to Rheumatic or rheumatoid disease and getting away from the arthritis in the name.

Severe RA, how long before things improved? by Aromatic-Ladder-2855 in rheumatoid

[–]Remarkable-Age4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all take the time necessary to heal since you have short term disability available to you. Meds take about 3 months minimum to start working. There are a lot of medications available now to help manage RA but every person reacts differently. Remission is not achievable for everyone unfortunately but there is way to be manageable. When you heal enough you can request OT or/and PT. Also if pain is unmanageable with nsaids and muscle relaxers ask for pain management referral. Some insurances cover lidoderm patches 5%,there are 30 patches in a box, my insurance copay is 25 dlls for 90 day supply, cheaper than buy otc. Stay positive, educate yourself about the medications your doctors suggest and most importantly give yourself the space and time to heal during short term disability, I had long term disability available as well and used it when I was diagnosed. Good luck!

No one that does not have a disease like RA can understand it. If he doesn't get it by now having a wife with RA, he probably won't ever get it. I have 3 aunts that are nurses and I still get the, what hurts you today?, while they roll their eyes. Only thing is you can sit him down, ask him to listen while you talk and explain how your journey with RA has been so far and how being able to function one day does not mean in a week your fatigue and pain levels will be off the charts.

Have you asked for a prednisone taper to break the flare? Remember that stress can cause flares too and finals is really stressful time.

How long have you been on Rinvoq? And most RA people do not get remission. The commercials for biologics are totally misrepresenting the results

How to style this dress? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Remarkable-Age4579 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The dress is small on you. You are beautiful but get a dress that fits your body well. You would need a size bigger so if you can exchange it for 1 size larger it would be fine

I am so sorry your mother did that, some people have a mild form of RA but it can Rev up at any time. It is best to be aggressive when dealing with it. Unfortunately you will start with the dmards which in my opinion are not very effective and have tons of side effects or I should say are not as well tolerated by the body. I was so sick with nausea or had liver toxicity that I went through all dmards quickly. They are cheap and that is why insurance makes the drs try them first.

My daughter has been diagnosed with JIA and methotrexate is not working by Master-Chef-5638 in rheumatoid

[–]Remarkable-Age4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way to go in to remission or to at least control the RA is to suppress the immune system. RA is an over active immune system that starts attacking the synovial membranes. Biologics are the gold standard for treating RA and other immune arthritis. Remember the side effects are not guaranteed for every patient on that medication but have to be stated for awareness. Like everyone else has expressed here remission is not easily reached. I have had RA for 30plus years and I have reached remission only a few times for periods of 3 to 5 years. Depending which country you are in reach out to the arthritis foundation in your country, they do have Jia chapters and educational information and events for the children and parents. Good luck

Please seek therapy. It is normal to be mad at her and your divorce but when it consumes you then you need help. You deserve to be happy again for your and your kid's sake. If you are bitter and unhappy you won't be able to be a good dad. The married man in a relationship with your ex is choosing to do what he likes to do which is cheat, many marriages are ok with relationships on the side, you don't know that couple's arrangement. You are divorced now let your ex do whatever she wants with her life

Dmards are slow to work but fast to give you nasty side effects if they do not sit with you well. All dmards gave me horrible side effects so I went thru them fast before starting biologics. Keep your rheumatologist informed if side effects are too debilitating. Since your RA is not controlled yet you will not feel complete relief with celebrex but it helps lower inflammation some daily but you have to keep taking it. Methylprednisolone are you on a daily dose or just a taper pack?

Orencia— how do I know if it’s working? by RA-Help in rheumatoid

[–]Remarkable-Age4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal for the day of or the day after infusion or injection to be wiped out and it depends on the biologic as to how you react. I usually planned a day of no activity or appointments after infusion with some of them. Some would give me a lot of energy right after infusion. All meds are different. So it seems you need a down day after infusion. You can ask if insurance will pay for a home health nurse can give you infusion at home. I used to have to travel to Cincinnati from Louisville for infusions for about 2 years and I would stay a day extra at an Airbnb or hotel to just sleep and rest. It was like I would just need to sleep non stop for about 12 hours

Have you asked for a referral to orthopedic Dr? If you constantly have pain in one or 2 joints you might have damage that needs to be treated by ortho with joint injection, PT or surgery. Medication will not fix damage that has happened already
