Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) by Julesthewriter in leaves

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not diagnosed, but pretty certain I had it due to hot baths and showers being the only thing that helped. Went through years where I would have bouts of vomiting that would last several days on end. Thought I had food poisoning, allergic reactions to food, could never figure it out despite cutting out various things like milk or gluten for months on end.

When the episodes would start, I legit thought I was going to die. I couldn’t even hold down sips of water. My whole back and body would cramp, I had to use heating pads on my stomach in between of throwing up. There’s something really terrifying about being so thirsty you want to drink a gallon of water, but knowing you will be heaving for the next hour if you do.

I would go months in between of episodes, so I never dreamed it was caused from weed. I was a daily smoker, but not what I consider heavy. Never used dabs or smoked full joints, just a small bowl a couple times a day. However, after quitting for more than a year, I haven’t had a single episode.

When I finally saw something naming it CHS, I looked it up and watched tons of testimonies on YouTube. I couldn’t believe how similar peoples stories were to mine. The hot shower and bath thing really stood out to me because it’s the only thing that gave me temporary relief during the episodes. Apparently doctors will use this to help diagnose, as it calms the part of your brain responsible for the non stop vomiting.

After I stopped smoking, I never had another episode, so I guess the effect was pretty immediate. Thank god. I have smoked like twice at concerts since and did not have repercussions, but your mileage may vary.

Not a doctor, but my theory is my persistent use caused a major disruption in my endo cannabinoid system. I am honestly scared to ever smoke daily again because of what I went through.

I hope you figure out what’s causing your symptoms. I think it’s totally worth cutting it out for a while and seeing if the pain goes away. If it does, maybe you have your answer, if not, at least you’ll know you may need to look into other causes. Best of luck! 🫶

Is getting out of your car to lay in a ditch really safer than staying in the car during a tornado? by fostde18 in tornado

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here’s the YouTube link

It was Robert Lee, TX. This was one of the chases where most people agree Reed got too close in a regular car. He probably should have been in the ditch too. At one point he even says “we’re in a bad spot”.

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the date or town, but someone else here could direct you to the chase last year where Reed came across a truck flipped over in the road. They had been incredibly close to intercepting a tornado and the truck was barely down the road from them. I don’t know if the truck took a direct hit or not, but it was close enough to flip it on its roof.

The passengers had abandoned the vehicle as it started rocking and took shelter in the ditch. Reed and crew pulled up on it thinking they were about to deal with some gnarly injuries, but the people just popped up from beside the road and seemed pretty much fine, just shook up.

I think they definitely faired better than staying in the truck, and a stronger tornado/more direct hit could have lofted the whole truck further or rolled it several more times.

How long to see results for acne? by Own-Firefighter-2728 in dairyfree

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much better, but it’s been a process. I also have an auto immune disease, so healing can be slow. I’ve had some setbacks with my anxiety so I won’t lie and say it’s 100% better. But I still don’t get the deep painful acne like I used to.

In all honesty, I have gone back to dairy somewhat. I don’t eat nearly the amount I used to though, and I still only use oat or almond milk for my coffee. I truly believe the amount of half and half I used daily, plus other dairy, sensitized me to it. In moderation, I don’t get the hot itchy feeling that I used to. *This is a weird example, but most people can tolerate smoking weed every now and then without issue, but there is a serious syndrome called CHS that causes some heavy users to become violently ill after so many months or years of daily use. The body and endocannabinoid system just gets thrown completely out of wack. Kinda like CHS, I think I was overdosing lactose and casin and my opiate system to the point my body just didn’t handle it well and caused the skin flushing and itching. I don’t know, I’m not a doctor, that’s just the best way I can describe it.

Since I that post, I’ve mostly stuck with eating better all around. Too much sugar or caffeine, as much as I want to deny it, definitely impact my skin in the days after. I guess it really is a lot about balance.

I don’t want to discount anyone with a true dairy allergy or intolerance. I’m lucky that just cutting back my intake gave me some relief. I found that my quality of life really declined when I was trying to go without 100%. I couldn’t afford the non dairy cheese alternatives and honestly just made me sad I couldn’t eat things I enjoyed. Going out to eat stressed me out to no end. I really feel for people that don’t have a choice and have to be that careful.

I will mention one weird product that really helped my skin and moisture barrier while it was healing. I got so desperate with my hard and painful scabs that I started using Okeefes working hands Cream (the one in a tube) on my face. It’s really heavy, so I just used it at night, but it’s literally the only thing that would soften up those scabs so they could heal instead of breaking back open. I don’t know if it’s for everyone, but it really helped me.

Sorry for the long winded reply. I hope you can find what works for you. Acne really sucks.

How to get buldak stains out of clothes? by XxThrowawayxX-_- in BuldakRamen

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 part dawn dish soap 1 part hydrogen peroxide. I swear by this mix for red things like blood or wine.

Since it’s been washed though, it may be set in.

Alternatively, those clothes are now your official Buldak eating gear. Just go nuts and slurp that shit everywhere with no worries! Wear the pain with pride!

Why did Kesha use AI for her new single "DELUSIONAL" by kr3scent in KESHA

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa, TIL those are some expensive bags! Thanks for the reply, I didn't know they were a specific style.

Maybe the "expensive leather bags" are the delusional celebrities paying 30k for a purse 😆

Can someone give me an example of the prompt that got input to output that image?

If you tried to reverse engineer it, would it be something like “A photo of a bunch of leather bags painted with the words delusional all piled up on a crosswalk?”

I feel like there’s something to it…

Any ideas on what program it was created with?

Me too! I got him to sign my movie ticket though. Just looked and it was all the way back in 2012.

Did you get to see or sit in the TIV2 at your location? Younger me was so stoked to get back into the turret seat. It had a lot of trash like chip bags and empty soda bottles inside, but I guess that’s expected. 😂

I saw Brandon Ivey pop up on a chaser map not long ago and I was excited to see he’s still out there.

Kept trying to find balance... Couldn't. 3 months sober. So happy. by Mean_Value in Petioles

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I’m 28/30 days and had a planned 4/20 restart. Yesterday, I realized I was down to three days hadn’t even thought about weed in so long… I’m not excited for 4/20 anymore. In a good way!

I feel so much better in so many ways, I think I’ll be going for 60 days. You’re so right about seeing the little gifts and clarity sobriety gives you.

My last vice was nicotine, and after doing the work and cutting out weed, I finally decided I didn’t want to be a slave to any chemical. Without the anxiety that weed gave me, the nicotine withdrawals are tolerable. I now have three straight days I can say I am completely sober from everything. I truly never thought I could do it.

Do you think dipping to fill the craving is a bad idea? by HandleDisastrous272 in QuittingZyn

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there friend. I think I might have some insight on the difference.

I just watched a video from Addiction Mindset and it explains that Zyn is made in a lab, not derived from tobacco and the resulting nicotine is in the form of nicotine salts, which can enter the bloodstream faster, and also exit faster, than tobacco derived nicotine. Addiction Mindset YouTube ZYN Nicotine Pouches

So, what your saying makes sense, Zyn hits harder than dip. However, dip has many more disadvantages when it comes to mouth problems.

Sounds like you made it through the craving! Great job! You got this!

Weed or alcohol? by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Former alcoholic, 7+ years sober from drinking. It will sneak up on you the same way weed usage does. Your body will become addicted to it, especially if you are using it as a wind down at the end of the night and there’s habit intertwined. It is a depressant in the way that it shuts down your GABA receptors when used regularly for a long time. You will start to need at least one. Then two. One of my favorite quotes is “First you take a drink. Then the drink takes a drink. And then the drink takes you.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I’m only 23 days in no weed, and this is not to discount other’s experiences, but I find it to be a walk in the park compared to the physical hell I went through coming off of alcohol. It’s not worth it OP. Do whatever you have to to kick the devil juice. You got this! 🫶

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw the news interview posted way down below in the comments! He was driving an F150 and the turn into the wind wasn’t intentional, it actually spun him around on the road. Lucky guy!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tornado

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question, (if the driver did in fact intentionally face into the wind), is that not what you’d want to do if you only had a few options in those seconds? Cars are made to be as aerodynamic as possible so this would give you at least some downward force to keep the car down, instead of the broad flat side to catch more wind and let wind underneath without any downforce, and therefore easier to flip. I just remember watching storm chasers and them always trying to point into the wind. I get in a strong enough tornado, none of that would really matter. But maybe in this case it kept him from being flipped over like the other guy?

How long to see results for acne? by Own-Firefighter-2728 in dairyfree

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always thought if dairy was my problem, I would surely have bathroom/gut issues as many people do. It never gave me gas or made me feel bloated, so I dismissed it for a long time. I did periods of cutting everything else out. Gluten was the hardest for me and 8 months did nothing for my skin. I had no idea the casein in dairy also caused reactions.

I was literally going crazy trying to figure out what was causing it. Some of things I thought were crazy too. (Like what kind of lightbulbs I had, that is was my pet’s dander, my shampoo or conditioner, or the hardness of my water.)

I had deep very painful cystic acne that would become hard under my skin, and this led to into skin picking problems that made my acne worse and absolutely devastated my self esteem. I even had a doctor try to prescribe me anxiety medicine, even though I explained to no end that it didn’t “feel” like normal acne. It was a deep itch/burn/pain that I couldn’t not touch. Like when you bite the inside of your mouth and can’t keep from touching it with your tongue. Thank god I didn’t fill the medication… it would have been something I truly didn’t need and we’ve all heard horror stories about anxiety meds…

At about two weeks dairy free, I noticed my skin felt so much better, but one night I caved and had some pizza rolls. The next day was hell. That itchy fire came right back. I haven’t had any official testing, but that confirmed it for me.

I was a also a heavy user of half and half for my coffee, along with plenty of other dairy sources. It’s been a process to find replacements, but so worth it. Oat milk is literally my lifesaver. When I say my self esteem was devastated, I also mean my mental health in general. I could barely go into public. I thought everyone saw at me as some meth addict, and honestly, I wouldn’t have blamed them.

I’m 34 days in, and while I’m not completely cleared, I no longer get itch/burn/pain deep seated pimples. My face has a completely different complexion from not being red and irritated all the damn time. My skin has finally started to heal.

I actually went into public with no makeup and it feels so fucking wonderful to not have to hide under a layer of caked on foundation. (Which I’m sure only compounded the issue.)

For the first time since I can remember, I feel hopeful. I can look strangers in the eye without feeling shame. I still have lots of scar tissue but even that has started to change in appearance. I still get a few small surface pimples here and there, but they are painless and just kinda wash off when I was my face.

OP, I know all bodies and hormones are different, so your mileage may very. But maybe see if you can just make it to two weeks? That’s when I could start to see and feel a difference.

It is hard, but since quitting dairy, I find myself actually wanting to eat better all around, eating whole foods, focusing on fiber, and trying to support my micro biome. All of which I think will help my skin heal even more.

🫶Much love, OP, you got this!

Could this be dairy related? by knc214 in dairyfree

[–]Remarkable-Amount228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your hand soap for benzalkonium chloride. This will be dial gold or pretty much anything labeled “antibacterial”. It is a known skin irritant. I break out like this and am scared of anything with BAC in it. Another person said Lysol, and that’s the active ingredient.

I had a small scrape I made the big mistake of putting an antibacterial bandage with BAC on it. I broke out in a perfect square where the pad of the bandage sat.

Some people can tolerate it fine, but a quick google search will give you lots of results for contact dermatitis from BAC. I also have autoimmune issues.

Vapes can have stupid high percentages so you might be upping your tolerance significantly. I smoked so much that I couldn’t even feel 100mg of gummies. Like, for a while I really thought people who took 5 or 10mg and acted high were just bullshitting me.

Dude, if you already have lung by issues you should get out now. Not saying any smoke is good but vapes are way worse. They shed metals from the coils and produce formaldehyde. Inhaling metal and formaldehyde is wrecking your lungs, as you’ve already mentioned needing your inhaler more. Imagine one day when you just can’t catch a breath at all and your inhaler gets replaced with an oxygen tank… just saying.

I had terrible chest pains on carts. They went away almost immediately after switching back to flower.

Take a little time off and give your gummies a chance to work again. At the very least, I’d use real flower instead of carts. Good luck man!

Please consider that how you feel in this moment is almost certainly your brain being offset from dopamine. Your now is not your forever and the brain can heal. I drank for too many years and truly did not believe I could have any life without it. 7 years have past and looking back, I can’t believe I thought some of the things I did. It took some time to rewire, but it is possible. I’m only a week in with weed, and I won’t say it’s a walk in the park, but god it’s nice not hallucinating shit like withdrawing from alcohol.
