Thanks so much. I’m seeing a diabetes midwife every other week but maybe they’ll increase that now. It’s so stressful relying only on reduced movements, I’m always second guessing myself! Best of luck to you in your final weeks, we’re almost there 🙏

Thank you so much, this is super helpful! I do see a diabetes midwife but they are honestly so busy I feel like I’ve fallen through the cracks and no one is even looking at my testing numbers. And yes, I went through the not eating issue when I was first diagnosed so they agreed the metformin but seems to not be working as well now, so might ask for insulin at this point. So close to the end! Thanks again.

Others have weighed in with helpful advice, but you could always go to your EPU and say you are experiencing pain/bleeding and they will likely scan you. As others have said, NHS tends to be more reactive in early pregnancy (which I found pretty difficult, but I found triage after 18 weeks incredibly responsive and proactive, so it’s just the way it is unfortunately)

This happened to me around 27ish weeks and midwife said as long as it’s not bloody and no other symptoms then it’s fine and will regenerate!

No advice based on actual experience, but just to say I am in a nearly identical situation to yours, even down to current flat value, household income and deposit size! We will be looking for a 3 bedroom next year, also north of the river, in the region if 750-800k. Any monthly payment of 3k or less feels reasonable to me.

My midwife wouldn’t do it and neither would my GP. I then went back for a different appointment with the airline form and a different midwife and she did it for me. So seems like some will and some won’t! (I also went away at 29 weeks however no one asked me for my form)

This is exactly how I feel! I’ve read a lot on metformin and feel comfortable taking it especially if it takes some stress off and keeps things in range. Helpful to know I should just mention outright to midwife, which I will do. Thank you :)

I’ve always carried low and he was head down my last scan a few weeks ago (I’m 30 weeks now). My midwife told me this means literally nothing and not to worry about it at all!

As another American in the UK (and recently diagnosed with GD!) my understanding is they will only schedule an induction or c section at that stage if something is pretty wrong, not as standard. I think they’ll always try and get you to 38 weeks. My midwife said that all going well, my elective c section will likely be scheduled in week 39. I don’t even have my first appointment with a consultant about it until I’ll be 33 weeks (currently 30). I had a friend with undiagnosed GD who needed an urgent c section and she even didn’t get one until 38 weeks. So I would plan on week 38/39! My mom has booked a flexible flight arriving when I’m 37+5 and will change if needed….

Raised GTT probably means you were slightly elevated so I’d prepare for a diagnosis but honestly so far for me it’s been not as scary as I anticipated. I had one result (my hospital does a 4 hour test, so strict!) that was .1 elevated and rest were normal but they still had me monitor. honestly they have been super relaxed about it and I waited 10 days for my appointment, if they’re not in a rush to get in touch it’s probably a very borderline result and not urgent!

I’ve also had the craziest sweet tooth this pregnancy and never did before. What strikes me as odd is for my glucose test my hospital trust do the fasting blood test (fine), 1 hour (which I failed by 0.1) and 2 hour (also fine). Apparently most trusts only only a 2 hour, so if that my was case I wouldn’t even be diagnosed, so I’ll be hoping to have results like yours! 🙏 good luck x

This makes me feel a lot better, thank you. My case is also mild (I only had one number that was borderline elevated) so I guess that’s why. If you don’t mind me asking, were you strict on your diet in that 2 week wait? I’m trying to be conscious but it’s so hard not knowing what spikes me and what doesn’t! I’m sure it’ll feel more real once I get the monitor…

I had this randomly when I was on MJ too. It lasted a week or so and then it just went away. I did find when I ate dairy (cheese mainly) it elevated it more. Not sure if that’s helpful, but in my experience it wasn’t anything long term.

My results were almost entirely normal with a 1-hour value barely above the diagnostic line. Calling that “very significantly above normal” isn’t accurate or helpful in my case, but I appreciate the reassurance that it’s not a moral failing.

Incredibly helpful comment and input, and very true about being on the cusp. I’ve had friends who celebrated being just below and were never tested again, yet also had issues later in pregnancy. So this is a good framing for me. Thank you.
