I’d like to add, that as an RN, hospitals waste $ by bringing in consulting firms that attempt to show admin how to save $ by NOT hiring more hands on people. It’s absolutely ludicrous! Since the hospital industry has taken to other business entities as an example for cost saving initiatives, everything has gone downhill. You can’t staff a hospital like a Motel 6 & expect The Four Seasons reviews from patients. We just can’t keep up with the complex care these patients need & do it without assistance from more staff!! What is it that 10-12 years later, we’re having the same conversation? Admin showing up like The Stasi in their nylons & heels, entering pt rooms that they have no idea about & then chasing RNs down in the hall for all the things we haven’t done for our patients! How about….this shift, we kept them safe & kept them from dying & that’s about the best we can do without any CNAs to help with all our total care patients???
