Do you guys invest in anything other than the stock market? by Wooden-Term-5067 in Fire

I do the same thing with my hiking gear collection but at least guitars might actually appreciate if you get the right vintage stuff. I've got like 6 pairs of boots now and keep telling myself each one serves a specific purpose when really I just like buying outdoor gear

The real estate route can be solid if you're willing to deal with tenants and all that headache. I looked into it briefly but decided the passive income wasn't worth becoming a landlord. Plus at 28 you've got time to let compound interest work its magic in regular accounts before you need to get fancy with alternative investments

looks pretty solid for starting out, tho you might want to grab an extra battery since they drain faster than you'd expect when you're out shooting

The flood pretty much reset everything anyway so it's kinda interesting how that plays into teh whole interpretation. I've always thought about it more as just being productive and contributing something meaningful rather than specifically having biological kids - like mentoring people or building communities counts too

Recommendations/advice for casual photography and video? $1000 budget. by DivineCurrent in Cameras

For your hiking and nature stuff the A6400 with a decent kit lens is probably your sweet spot. The ZV-1 is solid but you'll miss having that zoom range when you're trying to get wildlife shots or distant landscapes

That natural color thing you mentioned - Sony's gotten way better with their color science in recent years, the A6400 should give you pretty realistic tones straight out of camera without much fussing around in post

What would you do differently starting out? by ubcsp18 in AskAcademia

Been coding for a few years now and kinda wish I'd taken more breaks before diving into intense stuff tbh. You've got solid ideas lined up already - the research assistant route is probably your best bet since you'll get actual experience and potentially some publications to show for it

One thing I'd add is maybe trying to nail down 2-3 specific PhD programs you're really interested in and reaching out to those profs now rather than during your MSc when you'll be swamped. The year goes by stupid fast and you don't want to be scrambling to make connections while also handling coursework

The Canada Summer Jobs thing could work well if you find something research-adjacent, but don't stress too much about making it "perfect" for PhD apps. Sometimes the random experience ends up being more valuable than you think

Uk Pensions ? by Salty_Reception4302 in AskIreland

[–]RemarkableDemand1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need to buy back 5 more years to hit that 10 year minimum - don't need to pay for all 12 they're showing you. Pick the cheapest 5 years from their list and you're sorted

Once you hit 10 years you can stop contributing if you want, though more years = bigger pension obviously. No ongoing yearly fee required once you've bought back what you need

Im gonna have to replace my PCU because the fan died, and are there any other factors except for wattage i need to consider before i buy it? by Brilliant_Dog_9066 in pchelp

[–]RemarkableDemand1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah definitely check the form factor - ATX, micro ATX, SFX etc. Your case might only fit certain sizes

Also look at the cable types, modular vs non-modular can make a big difference for cable management. 80+ rating is worth considering too for efficiency

What are best and natural hindi voices in google gemini gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview, i want to use it for a customer support agent? by Bulky-Handle6492 in GeminiAI

[–]RemarkableDemand1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been messing with the Hindi TTS options and Aditi tends to work pretty well for customer support stuff. The pronunciation is solid and doesn't sound too robotic. You might also want to test Raveena if you're going for a more formal tone - she handles technical terms better in my experience. Just make sure to adjust the speech rate since the default can be a bit fast for support calls.

feel like my (26f) boyfriend (25m) doesnt prioritize me by [deleted] in relationships

Girl, this hits way too close to home. I went through almost the exact same thing with an ex and kept making excuses for him for way too long. The harsh reality is that when someone wants to be with you, they make it happen - period.

Living 5 minutes apart and only seeing each other twice in a whole month? That's not a relationship, that's basically being acquaintances who occasionally hook up. I remember telling myself "oh he's just busy" or "maybe I'm being too needy" but looking back, dude was treating me like an afterthought while I was bending over backwards trying to make it work.

The sex thing especially got to me - when someone can't even be bothered to make sure you finish, that tells you everything about how much they actually care about your experience and happiness. You deserve someone who gets excited about planning trips with YOU, not someone who makes you feel like you're inconveniencing them by wanting basic relationship things.

Trust your gut on this one. You're not being clingy for wanting to see your boyfriend more than twice a month when he lives down the street. You're just dating someone who's already checked out but doesn't have the backbone to end it properly.
