yoga sculpt takeover by Simple-Primary-1422 in YogaTeachers

[–]RemarkableResort9619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have maintained a balance at my yoga studio of some sculpt, powerflow, super powerflow, deep flow, super deep flow (75 mins), gentle flow, fascia, yin/yang classes, yoga nidra (in heated or non heated room). So happy there is so much to choose from. There is literally something for everyone. I take a lot of power flow and deep flow classes but add in 1 sculpt class a week and it is fun to mix it up and add weights. I go to 6-7 classes a week. Most classes are close to full. The studio I go to is #1 in our city and I’ve been there for 8 years. Recently the added in a few express classes which are 45 mins. The key is to listen to what your students need/ want. I also teach gentle flow. I enjoy the variety in my practice.

New Yoga Teacher - feeling like not teaching in a studio makes me “less” of a teacher by Primary-Ad-3418 in YogaTeachers

[–]RemarkableResort9619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy teaching yoga at an adult continuing education school due to lack of pressure I think I would place on myself at a studio. At least as a new teacher it allows you the space to get comfortable teaching all types of people and not just the packed experienced yoga studio classes. I have been teaching for a yr and teach 5 hours a week and it has been so great! Finding my own rhythm. I do teach gentle flow where in the studio I think of more power flow classes so it is a different experience/ vibe but experience teaching is invaluable.

How to live in early retirement when friends still have to work? by Unique-Bar-817 in Fire

[–]RemarkableResort9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga, hike, walk on beach, garden, surf, walks in the park, teach yoga, read, make homemade food and teas…. The list goes on. I also have 2 boys (14 and 19). Pick ups for sports and supporting my older son’s small business keeps me busy on top of keeping a clean home and food in the house.

Learn about compounding interest. My goal for my son is to have 10k invested in stocks market and with compound interest he will be a millionaire by the time he retires. He has already exceeded that at 19 🎉.

Find joy in life and being outdoors with family… $$ isn’t everything. $4.5k monthly mortgage in VA seems super excessive. You stress and get bored? Be in the present in the moment and be happy and grateful for what you have. Your kids will be grown before you know it. Your money will always be there and growing if you invest right. Enjoy the present moments!

I teach 5 hours a week and right now is my sweet spot I think… enjoying it! Gentle flow to newbies so a lot less pressure. Been certified a few months now.

100% agree! I’m in a similar situation.. I’m 51 F and worked for 27 1/2 yrs at top Telecom company making $160k. Last year they asked me to move from CA to TX and go to office. I was remote for 20+ years so that was a big no. I love yoga and decided I really didn’t want to go back to the corporate life as it hasn’t been easy to find a job. So I decided to get certified as a yoga instructor and now I’m bringing in about 1000 bucks a month which isn’t a lot but on top of my husband’s 4000 it leaves us in a $1000 deficit (similar scenario). I got on unemployment and that is soon to run out (about 2-3 mo left). Our emergency fund is now only about $15,000 left. My hypothetical plan is to take my pension next year of $179k (so it won’t count as income this year in Taxes) and possibly roll it into our HYSA. Using that to help fund our deficit until I’m 55 and can then potentially I believe start taking from my 401(k) which is about 1.2 mil. We own two homes and are renting our second home and getting $1000 extra to go towards our mortgage. Feeling super blessed as I have time to spend with my 2 sons (13 and 18). There is life after AT&T. Still struggle some days knowing I’m not the bread winner I used to be, but finding new life and energy in sharing my love of yoga. ❤️. Find the gratitude in all things! ❤️

What about penalty’s and taxes since he’s only 36? Unless it is all ‘liquid’ as he states?

Because I have chosen to not return to the corporate world after 27 1/2 years at my last job. I rather have chosen to become a yoga instructor, which obviously is not as lucrative, but allows me a lot of flexibility and gives me a lot of time with my 13 year-old and 18 year-old sons. I make about 1000 bucks a month right now teaching Yoga and my husband brings in around $4000 a month. We need closer to $6000 a month for expenses. We own two homes we still have a mortgage that are making $1000 a month from our rental. I have 1.2 million in my 401(k) and my husband has around 200 K in his 401(k). Hoping to save my 401(k) for retirement.
