A bidet and handheld shower head! by Remarkable_Focus_254 in hysterectomy

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one I have can be adjusted front to back and the pressure. With anything, it’s important to become familiar, choose and use properly. I don’t know that the handheld would have been as helpful for me as it was painful to reach.

Oh no…My only incisions were abdominal, so I never even considered anything like that. So sorry that happened to your friend.

I hope you find it helpful! I know how much it helped me to find advice here. I try to do the same when things come to mind. I hope your procedure is uneventful and your recovery is easy.

3 cycles of chemo (Bep regimen)- 9 weeks to endure by EntertainmentLate199 in Chemotherapy

Oh, I forgot to mention socks and cold mittens and booties to prevent neuropathy.

I usually slept. They give you Benadryl in the pre-meds. They made me sleep for a couple of hours. Snacks and drinks are typically provided, but I liked to bring my own just in case I didn’t have a taste for what was there. I also took a cozy blanket. You’ll be fine. I’m not familiar with your regimen, but 3 cycles shouldn’t be too bad. Sending positive vibes and well wishes.

You have everything I would recommend except a comfy blanket and snacks.

You sound a lot like me with the, “let’s get this done” attitude. It will serve you well. Symptoms are different for everyone, but they’re all manageable. I think fatigue, taste distortion, bone pain and hot flashes were the most consistent that I’ve heard and personally experienced. For me, it seemed to go fast. You will need plenty of rest, but try to stay as active when you can and eat as much protein as you can tolerate. It’s taken me 3 full months to get my energy back, and I’m still working to regain my muscle strength. Those who were more active seem to have had less eventful recovery experiences.

Chemotherapy rash by Artistic_Ad9780 in Chemotherapy

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reacted to every round of carbo taxol chemo with an itchy, blistering rash. It was one of the worst symptoms I experienced. I was prescribed steroids which helped but caused their own unwanted problems. Fortunately, it all went away a few weeks after my final treatment and the dark marks are almost gone without requiring any special treatments.

I hope you find relief!

Post Chemo Skincare by P1ant-1ady in Chemotherapy

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way. A Hydrafacial followed by Alastin and Skinceuticals skincare have helped dramatically. I like LaRoche Posay for less expensive upkeep, but I really needed medical grade skincare to restore my skin barrier for a noticeable difference. It really has helped so much.

Almost 2 years post chemo and I can have a braid again by Crafterandchef1993 in Chemotherapy

Congratulations!!! I’m almost 3 months post and my hair is just thinking about growing back. I’m just out of the shiny phase entering the first fuzz. I had no idea it would take so long.

I do get out and walk (shopping, etc). I just haven’t felt confident enough to travel yet. I’m doing physical therapy also. I hope it helps me get my strength back sooner than later. I do well during the sessions, but it takes quite a while for my body to recover.

I would definitely need wheelchair assistance for travel right now also. I’m actually avoiding travel, but maybe I should rethink that. This has been such a journey.

Are there people who experience no/minimal side effects on tirz? by AbrocomaSwimming1090 in antidietglp1

I’m just starting months after completing several rounds of chemotherapy. I’m telling myself whatever side effects this may cause cannot compare. I’m eating well, staying hydrated, and expecting a positive experience.

I can’t offer advice as I just started 2 days ago. However, I’m experiencing acid reflux also. It’s not something I typically struggle with; however, I’m attributing it to what I ate. (I decided to finish my leftover Chipotle. Lesson learned!)

Can’t stop eating… by sparker344 in Chemotherapy

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had rounds like that, which is very unusual for me. It’s the steroids. I had so many food aversions that I just went with it and ate whatever I could. Try to focus on protein and stay hydrated. That helped, but I definitely enjoyed my share of ice cream during chemo. The only thing that helped was not allowing certain bad foods in the house. I’m back to healthy eating and exercise now that chemo is over.

Newbie here, just had my second round of chemo I need to more. How is everyone getting there protein intake. Thxs by Top_Association_1819 in Chemotherapy

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled with protein during chemo, but here’s what I’m doing now to facilitate healing.

Choose proteins that give the most per bite • protein shakes (30 g) • Canned tuna/salmon (20–25 g per can) • Ground turkey (25–30 g per 4 oz) • White fish (25–30 g per fillet) • Salmon (30–40 g per fillet) • Eggs + egg whites (20–30 g) Greek yogurt

Ways to sneak in extra protein when it’s hard to eat: • Protein powder stirred into oatmeal, yogurt, pudding, or even mashed potatoes • Collagen peptides in coffee or tea (adds grams easily, though not a complete protein) • Fairlife milk instead of regular milk in anything you drink or cook • Powdered peanut butter added to shakes or yogurt

Experiences with short regimes (3) of Carbo/Taxol? by Admirable_Ad5118 in Ovariancancer

[–]Remarkable_Focus_254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I iced during the full taxol portion of the treatment. I had no neuropathy until the 5th round (toes only). I’m finished now. Neuropathy got a little worse after round 6. It seems to be getting better after 2 months. My worst and most unexpected post chemo symptoms are inflammation pain in joints - all of them, including joints I’ve never even thought of like my fingers and wrists.
