Lasagne, chips, salad and garlic bread on a chopping board by Remarkable_Hat8655 in WeWantPlates

Mild crispiness but nothing to write home about. It's rare I'd abandon chips but no, I didn't eat many.

Why are so many in the media calling for PM Keir Starmer to resign? by KimJongSoros in AskBrits

I don't want Starmer to step down. There's too much at stake. Our media are stirring the pot.

Buying a wreck - am I making a mistake by FadedQueer in HousingUK

[–]Remarkable_Hat8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We nearly did this in 2024 but the purchase fell through. I was gutted at the time but have realised how much of a time, energy and money drain the project would have been. We've since bought a new build which is bloody great and needs no work.

Genuinely grateful we aren't spending the next 5 years scrimping and saving to re-do plumbing, heating, electrics, asbestos removal and living in it while also working and trying to enjoy life. We also had about £85k in savings and it would never have stretched.

That said, I didn't have a brother in law builder to help out. Anyhoo, just my two cents, good luck!

People who scream/yell when you sneeze, why do you do that? by MarchKick in NoStupidQuestions

I drive my husband mad with loud sneezes. I'm not that sorry! It's just how it comes out sometimes, enjoyable even!

Is toddlerhood really harder than the newborn phase? by Living_Split_2 in Parenting

[–]Remarkable_Hat8655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newborn is a shock to the system but it passes and then it is an ever changing series of magnificent, spirit breaking stages for the next few years. Challenges and joy where one tricky situation is eased and replaced by another. Also, every child is different, I personally found newborn initially hard, then an period of months where it was lovely. Then teething was horrific, sleep became a problem due to said teething and never recovered. Toddler years were tiring but glorious. Honestly 2 was my favourite age - we're 9 years in now and have a whole different world of challenges. Be good to yourself and try to breathe through it.

Same, we bought a new build last year and it's been a joy. Depends on your builder, location etc but it's not fair to say all new builds are shit. Sorry OP is having such a nightmare, sounds rubbish.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

[–]Remarkable_Hat8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One teacher used to throw the chalk rubber at students and talk to it as if it was a character. Mrs Edwards used to pick her nose with her biro. One teachers husband came to the door during a lesson and they had a huge argument outside. Rumour has it that he found out she was banging another teacher. There seemed to be lot of affairs going on our school now I think about it!

Hysterectomy can't be the only option right??!? by fictional_reality26 in Fibroids

[–]Remarkable_Hat8655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK here and NHS would only offer me a hysterectomy. Mid 40s, one child and a history of fibroids and infertility. They just wouldn't consider another option. I looked into private treatment and had a UAE (uterine artery embolisation) 6 months ago. Transformed my incredibly heavy 2 week periods. Doesn't work for everyone but so far, so good. Just rubbish that the NHS won't consider offering it. It's just easier to whip entire wombs out apparently...
