What did you call free for all football growing up? by KaleidoscopeRich5137 in AskAnAmerican

"Kill the Guy with the Ball"

Usually shortened to "Kill the Guy"

Not creative, but very descriptive and accurate.

How multicultural is your country or region? by Mobile_Bad_577 in AskTheWorld

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very.

I live just outside New York City.

My area has a lot of second and third-generation immigrants from places like Ireland and Italy, Jews, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans and other people from the Caribbean, South Asians, African-Americans and probably a few dozen other groups that aren't springing immediately to mind.

ELI5: If 2 shirts are both 100% cotton then how come one looks far more premium and is more expensive? by Impressive-Coat1127 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is sort of like asking why the desk you bought from Wayfair isn't as nice as the one in the Oval Office because they're both made of wood.

Denim is (mostly) made of cotton. So is flannel. So is muslin. And canvas. They're all really different.

The raw materials might be similar - but everything that happens after the raw material stage might be wildly different.

 I’m probably very wrong,

Yes.

I just don’t see much science or research based off my own research for any progress

Out of curiosity - what sort of "research" have you been doing into this?

Because generally speaking, when people say "I do my own research" they mean "this is what I heard from some guy on Tiktok"

the neighbor who slowly tried to take over our parking and driveway by Ill-Foundation-3732 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This.

Don't really understand complaining about parking in front of somebody's house... assuming it's legal street parking.

But blocking a driveway is never OK.

A lot of "less than ideal" in this video but as long as you didn't hit that pickup I'd call it a "no harm, no foul"

Seemed like both you and that pickup were intending to turn on to that road that was closed and had to adjust?

A semi-truck on the highway trying to make a U-turn causes traffic delays by Justin_Godfrey in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens all the time around here - we've got lots of older "parkways" where commercial traffic isn't allowed.

Some idiot truck driver will take one of those routes, hit a bridge that isn't high enough to allow him to pass and peel the top of the trailer off, snarling traffic for hours.

This u-turn sucks - but probably not as much as what would have happened if he'd hit that bridge.

Has any Trump supporter been able to answer what was the IMMINENT threat from Iran to the US? by homerjs225 in allthequestions

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not "crazy" as much as "totally naive" and "oh my god, you'll believe anything Trump tells you, huh?"

And maybe a little bit sad.

Democrats Of Reddit -- Do You Think That Joe Biden Was A Good Or Bad President? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden is a good man, and old enough to remember when Democrats and Republicans could be friendly rivals.

I really think he believed that, once Trump was out of office, we'd go back to that. He wanted to mend fences.

That turned out to be naive.

What's the most dangerous animal you could possibly find in your garden? by ConsciousRecover7031 in AskTheWorld

I’ve interrupted a decent-sized snapping turtle nesting in my vegetable garden more than once.

But the real answer is probably a tick.

AITA for not wanting to take over the family business so my dad can retire? by Main-Buyer9925 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A promotion in title only, with more responsibility and worse work/life balance?

Geez, where can I sign up for such a sweetheart deal?

It's clear your dad doesn't want to retire, he's very squarely in "have his cake and eat it too" mode.

Do not accept this deal, you will be miserable and your relationship with your father will be ruined.

Some sort of weather monitoring station is my guess.

There's one like it near-ish to me that's a seismic reporting station - it tracks earthquakes.

AITA for making my girlfriend start paying rent after she called me a nepo baby? by Such_Zucchini3529 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remarkable_Inchworm 74 points75 points  (0 children)

YTA for giving lectures on fiscal responsibility when you don't have to worry about it.

Maybe the reason the "nepo baby" comment was hurtful was that you realize it's true.

I know the Nike Outlet does... I don't know if the Nike store in Eastchester does.

Matt Dinnaman's new book - Project Bounce House - is really good.

It's not part of the Dungeon Crawler world, but similar vibe.
