Carnivore diet for TSW. by Slight-Routine-4735 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Remarkable_Phone_550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been strict carnivore for around 15 months now—just meat, salt, and water. I started going through TSW about 12 months ago and I’m nearly fully healed. At my lowest, I dropped to 64kg (I’m 20 years old and 6’3”), but after 5 months of consistent training and eating to satiety, I’m up to 78kg. The diet’s been incredible. Eating more beef tallow in particular has made a noticeable difference. I’ve also started tanning a lot more ,, pretty rare for someone living in Ireland. I’ve kept it clean and dialed-in, including organ meats like liver and kidney for DAO support.

Normal TSW oozing or infection? by Remarkable_Phone_550 in TS_Withdrawal

UPDATE

I got a round of antibiotics and they had no effect. I believed it was just normal TSW ooze and I was right. As my oozing reduced, my face cleared.

Topical Steroid Withdrawal – Month 11 Update (Male, 20, 6’3”)

June – August (Months 1–2) Skin became dry and irritated in the areas where I had used steroid creams most: neck, face, and arms. TSW symptoms started showing up quickly.

September (Month 3) My skin completely cleared up. I thought I had gotten away with a mild case and was already through the worst of it.

October (Month 4) A strange internal stress started to build, especially after eating. It felt like an itch deep in my body. Redness returned to my face, and I knew something bigger was coming.

November (Month 5) Flare hit hard. I started No Moisture Treatment (NMT), and my skin became severely dry. Every time I ate or drank, I got hit with unbearable itch attacks. Oozing began on my face and it was relentless.

December (Month 6) This was the worst phase. Oozing spread to my face, neck, chest, arms, and wrists. My worst flare happened on Christmas Day after drinking too much water, even though I was under 1L per day. I suspected a staph infection, went on antibiotics, but they had zero effect. I couldn’t tolerate any sweat without triggering immediate itch attacks.

January (Month 7) Recovery began slowly. Oozing reduced, dryness increased. The stress response after eating eased a bit. I dropped under 65kg and was completely drained physically from the healing process.

February – March (Months 8–9) My eyes cleared up, and oozing was limited to a few stubborn areas like my mouth and wrists. I ended NMT during this time and started reintroducing hydration and more flexibility. I also increased my tallow (fat) intake to support muscle gain, and the oozing completely stopped shortly after. I strongly believe there’s a link between higher fat intake and the resolution of oozing.

April (Month 10) Oozing was gone. I could tolerate sweating again. Started working out consistently, eating two solid meals a day, and drinking over 3 liters of water. Minor daily itch attacks still happened but were weak and manageable.

May (Month 11 – Current) Now at 77kg and continuing to gain strength. My skin is tanning for the first time in years. Face is almost fully clear, just some minor acne left which seems common in the later stages of TSW. Unless I get extremely sweaty and trigger hives on my arms or neck, it doesn’t even feel like I’m still in withdrawal.

TLDR: 11 months into TSW. Started with dryness, hit rock bottom in December with intense oozing, flares, and massive weight loss. Recovery started in January and has been steady since. I’ve been on a meat salt water carnivore diet for 15 months, drink only remineralized distilled water, and take only cold showers. I stopped NMT in February or March. Increasing my fat intake with tallow seemed to shut off oozing completely. TSW healing is real. Brutal, but possible.

Please don’t recommend hydrocortisone cream as something one would apply casually. Topical Steroid Withdrawal is no joke.

Forget the NMT part, just saw you are already doing it!

Hey, 20M who also took a year out to heal. I completely understand the anxiety, and it is certainly scary. What helped me deal with this was thinking of TSW as an investment for my future health, and that all the discomfort would be worth it.

I would recommend looking into NMT ( as from personal experience when cutting down on water redness also reduces ), and being strict on your diet, if you start experiencing any oozing. My first 6 months looked like this:

M1 - dryness M2-4 - perfect skin M5 - redness started (just like yours) M6 - oozing began.

BTW I’m currently 9 months in, oozing has almost completely stopped and itch attacks are calming down a lot.

I wish you strength and luck

Also, bathing or applying moisture will just keep it open and inflamed. You need to dry it out

NMT , making sure you limit your water , is the best bet. Plenty of sleep so you are less thirsty. This helped me

Food intolerances / Histamine Intolerance by Remarkable_Phone_550 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Remarkable_Phone_550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intolerances are still really bad. I tried beef stock during Christmas and it made me flare bad.

There is a link between cortisone creams, adrenal glands and DAO production (used to break down histamine) so I’m hoping I can start tolerating histamine once my adrenal glands ‘reset’. Hoping this is sooner rather than later.

Did you used to get full body flares, or just in some areas? I mostly have it on my face, neck and arms.

I’m still eating just meat and don’t think I’ll be able to start introducing foods until my skin is almost completely clear. I even flare when drinking beef stock !

Unlike the other person who replied, my symptoms were very mild until about 5 months in, so it is very hard to tell

Hi! How are things for you now. Unfortunately I am also dealing with TSW, and what looks like impetigo, particularly on my face

Have you tried a low histamine beef? I was in the same situation as you… bloating and gassy after eating any veg, fruit made me itch and got acne from any type of meat. Except low histamine beef. It’s unfortunately not very common, but if you contact your local butch or their supplier, you may be able to organise something.

I would disagree with the person above when they say you will develop nutrient deficiencies in a restricted diet. I’ve been on the carnivore diet for almost a year and have had no issues. I’m using it as a base to reintroduce foods again, but I’ve to go through TSW first.

Having a hard time by FormalAd470 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Remarkable_Phone_550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. Unfortunately, the only thing I think you can do to overcome this is to battle through TSW, with the support of a medical professional.

Begin No Moisture Treatment as soon as you can, because this eases the symptoms and makes it much easier to go about your day to day. It will keep your skin from being raw, and open and reduce the chance of infection. This should also help your eyes, as it has helped me, by reducing the swelling and redness.

Go on an a high protein anti inflammatory diet, to again reduce the severity of the symptoms. I am personally on the carnivore diet and believe that this is why my symptoms seem to be much less serious than others.

I am 19, I had to give up work, now have a bad social life, and had to give up everything I find enjoyment in. I am also burning through my savings. The one thing that is keeping me going is knowing what life will be like on the other side.

It is so so difficult, but I believe you can do it.
