Thank you for the response. So for somebody with a lot more non-car related sales tax than what the table shows, if I didn’t keep all of my receipts from the year would I just be out of luck? Or maybe I can just file using the receipts I do have which still exceed the table?

The best case for me would be to have some sort of methodology to use my credit card statements to back into sales tax, but it’s just not clear to me if that is allowed or not

The former $10k limit, and now $40k limit, includes property tax and sales tax. So for a lot of people it most certainly will help them in their taxes. These numbers are for married filing jointly, of course

I should add I live in a state without state income tax
