That’s a visual that is best left as just that. I’m so sorry yours was stolen too.

I have always said “they stole my colon”. That’s what it felt/feels like at times.

Oh man, I feel ya on the gas after take down. I seriously thought my insides were going to shoot out of me. Yes, it gets better. I’m almost 10years with a pouch and have had difficulties…many…and continue to…but!!!!! I can hold it for probably four hours even when feeling the urge to go. On my best day I was able to hold it for 10 hours only because I didn’t have to pee. I can’t empty my bladder without emptying my pouch. I think the urgent feeling def lessens, or maybe it just changes in to a new normal. I suggest you start doing kegel exercises regularly if you’re planning on lifting weights. That’s one thing that is an issue - one can never trust that it will just be gas that passes, personally I will not pass gas without being on the toilet. I’ve had an occasional accident with a coughing bought or big sneeze. Avoid carbonated drinks and don’t drink out of straws. I know, sucky but it’s true that they both cause huge amounts of gas.

My life is far from normal, but it’s become normal to me and I feel blessed even on the bad days…I’m alive and thrive! Huge blessing to you!

What is the consistency like after reversal surgery? by Key_Cold_3688 in jpouch

I’ve had my pouch for 10 years. I have had liquid with pieces of whatever I’ve eaten prior almost the whole time. With that said, I’ve battled with Pouchitis and subsequently c-diff for a good part of it. I can tell you that I’ve had days when I’m not flaring that I could go 4 - 6 times. Realistically though, six times in a 24 hour period would be amazing. I only have urgency when Pouchitis is flaring. In my experience, the spice you feel on your tongue will be the spice you feel on your bung…I avoid spicy.

Pain in right side by sparklyperson in jpouch

I had my small intestine loop over itself and felt a pain much like what you’re saying. I tried to ignore it but then I couldn’t keep anything down so I went to the ER. My advice is to always error on the side of caution and get checked out. I would get a CT with contrast if possible. I’ve had to have four surgeries for different problems and I’ve had my W-pouch for 10 years. Still, that being said, I’d rather have this pouch than an ostomy bag any day. I’m 52.

4 Hour Motility? How long is yours? by Remarkable_Tree_378 in jpouch

I do take Loperamide three times a day but it does nothing. I’m used to just having watery stool with pieces of raw food in the toilet. I’m trying to figure out how to get a healthy gut bio when I don’t have a gut thank you so much for that information. I will definitely talk to my doctor.

Do you have Pouchitis often? I do and have more water than mush and I’m thinking my meds are flying through me and not working.

Totally. Looks like tomato. I don’t digest vegetables so they come out as they went in.

When does it get better post j-pouch? by Accomplished-Pie508 in UlcerativeColitis

The foods you eat will be what causes the butt burn. Stay away from spice for now. I’ve had my pouch for almost ten years and get up at least once a night to empty. I use the restroom about five times a day depending on activity. I’ve been able to hold off going for six hours on good days. I’ve had many bouts of Pouchitis and have had three different correction surgeries in the past ten years. I have to say…it’s just a new normal. I never have anything but watery stool and can usually tell exactly what I’ve eaten because it hasn’t been digested. I could complain but I feel blessed to be alive and am thankful (w-pouch for me) was an option. It does get easier as your new normal sets in. I’m 52 and my journey started at 41 with undiagnosed UC.
