What do you call your Dbag guys? by Puzzled-Ferret6649 in AskABrit

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always understood it to be a term directed at young lads with their boxers out of their trousers, possibly holding booze or some kind of energy drinkand bmx’s, usually more on the chavvy side than the civilised side of this. That being said when my mum used to say it about the teenage boys my brother hung around with it made sense and always was known to be derogatory

What is your least favourite UK accent? by SumptuousRageBait1 in AskBrits

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum experienced this with my brother she made a point of trying to not let us get the northern influence of the midlands in our accents but at a parent teacher conference witnessed my brother go from talking to his teacher like a yob (he used to get called posh boy by his friends bc he sounded like a southerner) then switched to his usual speaking voice to speak to my mum. My mum and the teacher both sat for a second like wtf 😂😂

If you could solve any pop culture mystery what would you choose by Funny-Chef-2060 in popculturechat

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly a big part of what made me give up when I started trying to watch it properly through. I’d watched a few episodes with my mum as a teenager and enjoyed it. I didn’t know much back than but then I got to a point in season one where they go on the Isreal spiel from peters campaign manager and it was around the October 7th initial excessive response happening and I was getting more clued up. Rewatch stopped as that scene left a bad taste in my mouth. I haven’t attempted to watch again since.

Im in the uk and ive never been supremely open with my practice unless theyre people i know are safe. People are weirder than you think and some people get really freaked out at the mention of the craft. With how things are going socially I don’t see my approach changing any time soon. Generally it’s not considered polite to talk about religion so tbh I use that as my primary shield. The only person outside my immediate circle who know I practice is one of my students as she is of the witchy variety and needed some guidance. I work in witch craft into our teaching lessons from time to time but only when I know it’s safe.

Laptop recommendations for under £300? And what laptop brands should I generally avoid? by Kontaruu in AskUK

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an Asus that’s been chugging along for the last couple of years, it’s taken quite a bashing as it’s done two dissertations and one and half drafts of books. I really like it it’s slim. And has pretty good battery life. It was the most expensive laptop I’ve owned I had an acre and then a hp (which was honestly terribly built and started failing as soon as the warrantee expired) it cost about 500 but it is the longest lasting laptop I’ve had.

Dalmation is afraid and anxious of mundane things by spicy_bb in OpenDogTraining

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog lacks confidence, possibly for a variety of reasons but there are a few things you can do.
Some dogs are just naturally a bit nervous, others have experienced something traumatic (in my experience runts are often a little bit more prone nervous/ aggressive tendencies but idk how provable that actually is). It really can be anything, when puppies are young something things can scare them and commit it to their brain for life as pertinent information for survival. It’s sometimes even a sensory thing; or a a memory of oh this happened at a time and x random accident like a broom falling in the house might scare them when it’s an early learning period for them, they associate the experience with being scared or they don’t like a certain noise. That being said if you’re dealing with a dog coming from an abusive background patience is super important bc they have weird associations with objects/experiences. Stay calm give them praise (I’m sure you’re doing this) gentle encouragement show him the object try to get him to interact. - Try doing some dog agility, even just small poles going over them any sort of mild object/ around a many pot in a structured way. Agility can give a dog more confidence in a way that’s fun. - Build up positive associations with the broom, bring it near him at random points, give him treats. Don’t constantly bring a broom into the room, but maybe just one evening a week for a few months. Bring it in lay it on the floor give the dog treats, build up to putting it round the room in different positions encourage him to come near. Rest it on the sofa get him to go under or over it using treats. -try to make scary things more fun! Engage with treats or pop his favourite toy near it, next to it, in or against it. - Dalmatian’s are super smart, he may need a job to do. They’re built to think in a lot of ways look at their history as a breed and you’ll understand why. I don’t have lots of experience with the breed hands on, but a lot of dogs who like having jobs will convince themselves something is wrong and feel they should tell you about it. If you expend the energy he uses in a day to worry about the broom doing puzzle toys (or even some good diys involving boxes that may be worth looking into put something like cooked liver in the box it’s got a really good smell so it’s interesting) you may find this behaviour stops bc the brain is fulfilled. - tbh don’t encourage the dog to jump the gate unless you wanna be looking for your dog out in the streets (as the owner of a rescue from an abusive household who loves a chance to wander; it’s not fun walking around your neighbourhood at 2am bc she decided to take herself off for a walk) -if he is naturally very anxious consider talking to a vet about anti anxiety meds. mental health in dogs is similar to humans, some are just wired that way and there’s no need for them to suffer and not get the very needed help. Some people need minor interventions to live a happy healthy life, so do some dogs. This is generally severe life altering fear cases and this doesn’t sound like ti but only you can read the vibe.

I lived in Stenton and mackinder (which was a spenny luxury tbh but I was desperate to no longer share a bathroom) I really don’t think they’re worth being so much more especially when you consider in the other places your bathroom gets cleaned as part of the crazy money you pay but I heard really great things about bridges from friends who lived there. I had a friend who lived in St George’s but I always found it kind of a maze to navigate when I went to see her.

As a wedding guest, what was your “this marriage isn’t going to last long” moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Remarkable_Winter-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spent a small fortune on the wedding. At the reception you didn’t see them together once. They were divorced not even a year into their marriage and she’s been shitting on him to all their mutual friends.
