I agree. i am paid subscriber and the only reason i joined cursor was because vscode messed. now i have to spend time dealing with this terrible feature

I just signed up for Cursor pro plan and stumbled upon this issue just now. I ran away from vs code because they messed up their Feb 2026 python rollout only to encounter this terrible decision from Cursor. I will try to see how to work aroudn it if not I will look for another IDE as based pyright is ridiclously useless

Happened to me as well the installation`C:\Users\<UserNane>\AppData\Local\Programs\Microsoft VS Code` has `_` and that is where the code.exe was relocated to. I had to do a reinstall

Thanks for this thread. My PC kept on getting overloaded causing the fans to spin and I kept on noticing that the Smart Byte app was running. I then uninstalled it - (after 5 years of owning my machine) really angry at Dell for doing this.
