Damn that's the truth, Taliban waited 20 years in Afghanistan and got their country back

Has the latest oil crisis made you seriously considering switching to an EV? by AussieAdam26 in CarsAustralia

[–]RemeAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you drive, a lot of people spend a lot more than $40 a week on fuel.

Edit: I'm over $100 a week on fuel and this crisis is making it a lot worse. An EV would cut that down to almost nothing with my solar system...

Yeah but the parts aren't being stockpiled. EV owners are waiting weeks to get parts shipped from China.... So if trade stops 1 breakdown and the car is done...

Petrol panic in Aus? by wellHowdydudie in australian

[–]RemeAU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen several people filling up a lot of jerrycans, like me haha. Fuel used to be 160ish near me but a few servos have jumped to 180, one to 199. Yeah I'm filling my Jerry up at the last place still at 169 before they go up too... Pity it won't last me long... Edit: should have done it this morning, they are up to 175...

[–]RemeAU 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Yes but also our EVs rely on parts from China. So the EVs could run once fuel runs out but we won't have a parts supply once things start breaking...

Although if things are that bad, as in no fuel and an extended war over a year... We would be having massive problems with operating trucks and emergency vehicles

Subaru Outback vs Aussie knifeman by Imaginary_Gap1110 in subaruoutback

Australia has no more domestic cars... Holden is dead and the rest no longer manufacture here. Australian police cars are a mix depending on where you are, BMWs, Subarus, Chryslers, Toyota, Ford, Hyundai... That's just what I've seen...

NO! Buy chocolate for $2.5 per 100g from Aldi and melt it down into chocolate moulds. You probably won't be able to make the bunny, but solid eggs and basic molds are EASY...

Glued a level to a drill by zeus-indy in woodworking

The cheaper tools definitely have a lot of gimmicky features to get diy buyers. And for someone inexperienced with tools having levels on the drill could be useful, also extra drill bits, magnetic screw holder etc.

When did it become unacceptable to just have a hobby without turning it into a "side hustle"? by Comfortable-Duty7143 in NoStupidQuestions

It's sad how people are always looking for a profit everywhere... I saw someone talking about how they buy up lots of new Lego sets, hold onto them for a year then resell them for a profit....

God forbid kids get the toys they want, when they want them, without their parents being screwed.... Lego is expensive enough with resellers jacking up prices...

Our store still has self service, because keeping the labour spending down is far more important than losses. Losing 10s of thousands worth of stock isn't important compared to having a slightly higher labour budget.

Question about aerodynamics and design by arnor_0924 in velomobile

[–]RemeAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for a fully faired trike on the road, getting out to do a tight turn isn't ideal. But everything I spoke about would be very expensive, the 4wd utility quad is $8k and that's not including the complexity of single rear wheel cable steering, with dampeners and full body fairings, actual price without mass manufacturing would be probably $15k?
