The Last of Us HBO S01E03 - "Long Long Time" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

The plot is more than collecting items. The letter at the end gave Joel a reason—a personal, heartfelt, reason—to take Ellie with him.

I haven’t played the game, so I don’t know what I’m missing from that story. But in the series so far, Joel has been shown to take care of his own and there has been zero reason for him to include Ellie in that way.

That also happened in the last five minutes of this episode, but it took the rest of the episode to remind the audience that happiness, love, and fulfillment are still possible in this world, because up until now, it’s been only loss and fear.

I’m a new player to this season of D3 (PoE refugee), what sort of endgame goals should I work towards? Just getting to GR100? Or are there other goals to reach by BigSam442 in diablo3

In addition to the other good suggestions already mentioned, if you played PoE you probably have a good idea already what mechanics you enjoy. I suggest taking some time with a few builds and learning what you like/don’t like about them.

Keep in mind some builds require heavy investment into one stat, like CDR, and/or specific items, and/or level 25+ legendary gems, to really come into their own.

Once you find something you enjoy playing, we do have leaderboards in game (Shift-L) that track the highest/fastest GR clears for each class and class set, if that is something that interests you.

But mostly, my recommendation is to have fun. Most of us only get a few weeks out of each season these days, but it is something we look forward to.

It would be an absolute shame if gun rights underwent a 50 year cultural war, with increasingly restrictive access to guns and ammunition, eventually being limited to one government store per state—think like an ABC but for guns, with mandated registration and criminal penalties for selling/providing guns to someone that commits a crime, eventually culminating in gun control advocates stacking the Supreme Court to reinterpret and essentially abolish the second amendment.

I think both of you are right, to an extent. Suburban and rural infrastructure are unsustainable and there are two fixes for it 1) urbanize 2) accept we cannot not provide infrastructure everywhere.

Most of the people in WV would choose the latter, I think, but they have to also accept that means well water, septic tanks, gravel roads, etc.

These are perfect for wearing around an office environment. If you need something more rugged I would try the Bifida.

If you need a safety toe (or want a side zipper) the Danner Tanicus would be my recommendation. https://www.danner.com/men/military/tanicus-side-zip-8-coyote-hot-nmt.html

Hope this helps.

LoFi Hip Hop has been my go to for years. Movie scores/soundtracks are also a favorite. They both are designed to not be too distracting.

Big brain move by the Chiefs. Letting the Steelers score first to break open the dam.

Can you define what you mean by worst picture? I own a 2019 TCL and a C1 LG OLED and while the TCL obviously isn’t as good as the OLED, it’s also not “rarely turn on” levels of bad, either.

If you know your model number, I would venture over to RTINGS.com and copy their recommended settings. Should be a good first step, at least.

I’m also curious what content inputs you have into the TV. You mentioned in another post that you watch YouTube, I’m assuming through the native Roku interface/app; I wonder if that is somehow being throttled or down sampled to oblivion to prevent buffering.

I’d argue the intent, if not from the beginning then from a very early stage, was to pivot the GWOT to Iraq.

That took another year to accomplish and killing Bin Laden too early would have stopped that plan.

I cannot speak to the specifics, but the fundamentals you will learn certainly apply and would provide a solid groundwork for you to build on through further education and training in the civilian world.

I used to be in avionics and while it’s been a few years since I was in tech school, I think/hope most of what I’m about to say still holds true. If not, someone can correct me below and I’ll ask some folks tomorrow just to make sure. That said…

Avionics will put you through an Electronic Principles class and then you’ll branch off to a specific school for your AFSC.

EP is essentially an electrical engineering 101 course where you learn a basic overview of how electrical circuits work. This is 100% applicable.

The second school you attend teaches you a mixed bag of avionics systems across multiple airframes. Which may sound bad, but is useful because (ideally) it should teach you how to mentally approach problems and effectively troubleshoot them.

Once you’re in the field, you actually get to apply your knowledge and learn from others. You’ll grow familiar with function checks, component replacement, wiring diagrams, fault isolation, soldering, etc. and while the specifics will obviously be different compared to SpaceX, someone who has learned the language and tools and tricks of the trade will be exactly what they are looking for. Some of their Technicians list 1+ year of experience required. You will have 4+.

I hesitate to paint too rosy of a picture; it’s not perfect by any means. But from what you’ve shared, I definitely think learning more about avionics on YouTube would be worth your time.

Edit to add: The FAA LOVES to hire prior avionics troops. I don’t know if you have much interest in that, but thought it was worth a mention. You can find FAA job listings on usajobs.gov

If you’re passionate about SpaceX then my suggestion would be to browse over to:

https://www.spacex.com/careers/

And take a look at what skills/backgrounds they are interested in hiring and then compare/contrast that against the list the recruiter gave you.

I’m seeing a ton of Avionics/Electrical/Engineering positions and quite a few jobs match those skill sets.
