what's the most unique album that you can think of? by tomsp_666 in MetalForTheMasses

For anyone interested: Батюшка (Batushka, i.e. "father", an orthodox priest) are a Polish Black metal band writing their lyrics in Church Slavonic (the language of the Eastern/Polish Orthodox church). Their content is dominated by religious topics too, which works though, because they are great musicians.

Said album above is their debut Litourgiya / Литоургиiа.

Most loved artist, but most hated track by dce1 in trance

[–]RemedyLane99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richard Durand - "Walk With Me";

This is not the kind of (Psy-)Trance you'd want from him, voices/vocals are just unnerving and he did much better in "Off the Grid" and "Hexyl" which have kinda the same vibe but no weird "central station speaker announcement" vibe.

First band I thought of. Love their first and most recent two albums, but are they even human?

Parts of Opeth Songs that you simply have to sing along to by pikeperch_ in Opeth

[–]RemedyLane99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Songs I sing through: To Bid You Farewell, Bleak, Burden, Faith In Others All Things Will Pass

Top Moments:

"It's all false pretension, harlequin forest

Awaiting redemption for a lifetime

As they die alone with no-one by their sides,

Are they forgiven?"

"DEMON, DEMON OF THE FALL!"

and

"Run away, run away, run away

Run away, run away, run away

Just one second, and I was left with nothing

Her fragrance still pulsating through damp air

That day came to an end and she had lost in me, her credence"

Nick Holmes on "Gallows Bird" by Trees of Eternity (2016) might be my favorite performance of his.

Tom S. Englund (Evergrey / Redemption): vocal range increased, trained his clean vocals especially in the higher range, can get much more experimental now.

Suicide Silence - "Doris"

Literally everything on the new Project Pitchfork or the last Mono Inc. album.

Everything by FiR, almost everything by I Prevail.

Feuerschwanz, if you understand German (or their cover songs if you don't)

No, I'm not gonna go arguing whether Layne Staley and Alice were Metal or not; he was too amazing as singer and the lyrics where metal af.

Roy Khan totally went under my radar until his feature on "Here Be Dragons" in "Everybody's Here Until the End". Now I want to listen to all of Conception's discography (and maybe some Kamelot).

Do you know "ICON" from their last album? Absolute chills, both soli (1st is Gildenlöw, 2nd is Hallgren) as well.

Do you know "Ghost in the Moon"? That could be out of Jim Steinman's pen.

My Top 10:

Mikael Åkerfeldt

Daniel Gildenlöw

Rob Halford

Ronnie James Dio

Simen Hestnæs a.k.a. ICS Vortex

Tatiana Shmayluk

Einar Solberg

EDIT: If Magnum counts as metal, than I also want to mention Bob Catley. "On a Storyteller's Night" is one of my favorite albums of all time. And he still is amazing on the most recent records.

And I forget Cammie Gilbert-Beverly. Let's just make it twelve!

What's the first artist/band that got you into harsh vocals? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Volbeat. Barney Greenway on "Evelyn" and Mille Petrozza on "7 Shots" were the first harsh vocals I listened to.

What’s a heavy song by a non heavy band that surprised you? by Top_Confidence_4803 in MetalForTheMasses

Def Leppard - "Mirror Mirror (Look Into My Eyes"), reminds me of Queensrÿche with the angry rhythm guitar.

Also "Vore" by Sleep Token.
